Re: JCO Family Announcement Thread

Congrats NYDreamer. Kids are the best. And whoever mentioned the thing about making your kids become Jets fans-I tried to do that to my 9 yr old who lives in Miami and it lasted until I moved from there. I had him trained good - Jets fan, Mets fan, Knicks fan and now he has gone astray and likes the Dolphins, Heat, and Marlins. At least he still loves the "U"!! I also have a 2 yr old son who has no choice but to be a Jets, Mets, Knicks, and the "U" fan.

Just wanted to say what's up to tvoman, nyjets28, hobson54, jetman10, jetman83, flex and whoever else I had good discussions with on here.

I'm a life long Jets fan, married to a lifelong Redskins fan, living in the MD/DC area.  We just had our first child, a son, 7 months ago.  He's worn both Jets and Redskins clothes, and I was fair enough to make sure he wore Skins clothes late in the season and playoff time.  We've decided to let him choose; but I've made no secret of the fact that I really want him to choose the Jets.  When my wife gets mad about the Skins doing bad, I tell her how I'd have killed to have enjoyed one super bowl Jets team, let alone 3 in my lifetime.  I wasn't born for the Namath days, so I've basically only known heartbreak.  I still have the Strat-O-Matic Football game of the Mud Bowl year, which I spent many hours as a kid playing, trying to change history (despite the Jets great team in the game, even then they somehow didn't win for me).

Having endured all this suffering, I still think it would be great for my son to be a die hard Jets fan.  When they finally win it all, it will be sweeter then any joy he'd get from another Redskins Super Bowl.  There's something artistic about being a Jets fan.  To have endured all that suffering and still loyally come back for more is amazing.  I can think of no greater father/son bond then sharing the highs and lows of the Jets with him.  I just hope they win it in my lifetime.

Strat-O-Matic Football game of the Mud Bowl year?!! Holy cow I'd kill to be able to play that Jets team! Strat-O-Matic Football was a blast.

Yeah, I guess I'll let him decide. But part of me still thinks I should chase hime away... after all, I wouldn';t wish being a Jets fan on anyone ;)

My daughter has arrived and is so beautiful.  My wife and baby are doing great and I just brought them home.  My almost 2 year old son is adjusting as well.  Thank you all for your kind words.

Congratulations Dreamer, you must be thrilled.

I guess you'll have more late night board sessions in your future (feedings and teething  )

Yesterday my wife had an ultra sound scan (5 months pregnant)

We're having a boy :)

My wife wants Justin as his first name
I want Edward as his middle name (my Dad's name)
And with my family name of Thornton, well, I got my very own little J.E.T on the way :) :) :)

112 days to due day
Go Jets!!

That's so awesome!!

I hope you're getting out of the house now, while you can.  In three months you'll be a sleepless zombie.

If your pregnant wife is anything like mine was; you'll get REAL good at golf during the third trimester.... that's a four hour "time out" from the hormonal craziness.  Good luck, brother.  It's worth it in the end.

Dreamer,

Better late than never. Congrats man!!  No wonder you've been in and out lately.  I just figured it was the off-season blues.  You already have a kid, so you're probably a great golfer  (otherwise I'd have given you the same advice as Shanghai).

Enjoy your babies why you can still hold them; I wish my tot was still cute and fragile and would let me cradle him... now he's just a cute little monster.

congrats jetsfanshanhi and thankyou Greenseed. I try and pop in usually around 5:00 in the morning before work or at night after the kids go to sleep.  I'm enjoying every moment of watching my 2 year old son interact with our 2 month old daughter.  It's great.  At least my son is already doing the Jets chant with his hands when my wife and I say J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
