Introduction and site transition info

Hello Jets fans, my name is Sean Deegan, publisher of JetsInsider.com.

We are very excited to announce JetsInsider.com is going to be taking over this Scout.com Jets site. Some of you may be familiar with us, we've been covering the Jets for over 15 years and have been a credentialed media outlet with the Jets for over a decade. We look forward to taking this site to the next level.

Rick has done a great job with thejetsbeat.com for the past several years and is moving to run the Giants site full time. We thank him for all of his excellent work. I look forward to meeting all of you and making a smooth transition.

If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me at sdeegan@jetsinsider.com

We're all Jets fans. If everyone has a positive attitude it will work fine.

Just a note...we have over 20,000 members, average between 600-1200 users at any given time and have accumulated over 5MM posts in the past decade. Rarely do we have to moderate. Our community for the most part polices itself and that's why we've been the most successful Jets and one of the most successful NFL boards for years. Don't knock it. It works and our community of Jets fans is robust.

i'm familiar with your site.  you do have a much larger group of posters and it is a very active board.  i commend you on that.  and i'm sure you have some very knowledgeable posters and content providers.

however, i am speaking only for myself, but there is a reason i chose to post here and not on other jets sites.  and that's because we have a (for the most part) respectful community that promotes intelligent dialog and tries to avoid (as best as possible) childish attacks and trolling.  in the thread you started on your board announcing this merger, you already have people trying to stir up "fights" and attacking the post 51 made trying to ask for civility.

so i am speaking as someone who put a lot of time and energy (all uncompensated) in establishing and maintaining this (small) community that we have here, that i feel that this is the end of the nice run we had.  i hope i'm wrong...

Well, they don't need to moderate there. Trolling is welcome. They have their very own Pats fans who regularly troll their board and derail threads without anyone stepping in. It's great. Personal attacks too. Starting several threads that deal with the exact same topic. It's all good. They do have a ton of members though.

Yes, I can tell by the passive-aggressive way in which you tell the gentleman running the new site how you'd like things to continue being run.

On his introductory post.

Very civil and respectful.

No, we are Jets fans bitching about how other Jets fans are sitting over here in this very quiet forum passing judgements on how we choose ot interact with each other. And other Jets fans. Does that make sense?

Nope. Not a bit. And yet here we are.
