Tim Fulger was already cut,  when we added LeQuan Lewis.   A lot of other players will be cut before Dowling .

You mean Troy Davis ....  he ain't going nowhere  !!!!   Rex loves this kid, speed quickness, great instinct, a fierce hitter. and can cover a TE . if he is not on the roster for special teams only , Rex will hide him on the Practice Squad.

What about Barnes being cut? Is he fully healthy?

That's something we don't know.  I suppose he could get an injury settlement or go on revocable IR

Antwan Barnes is on our PUP list. He doesnt count as a roster spot.

Shaq Evans and Dexter McDougle will be put on IR.

Dowling not getting cut in this first cuts.

If we don't, we'll have to cut The Turk!

Wow a list I  100 percent agree with .... from today's Newark Star Ledger

http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/2014/08/13_players_the_jets_could_cut_by_tuesday_when_roster_must_be_trimmed_to_75.html

TE Colin Anderson

The Jets’ top four tight ends are clearly Jeff Cumberland, Jace Amaro, Zach Sudfeld and Chris Pantale, in that order. In the fourth preseason game, at the Eagles, Pantale will get a lot of action, as the Jets rest their starters. Pantale probably won't make the final cut, though. Anyway, there is no need to carry five tight ends into that final preseason game. Anderson, an undrafted rookie last year, signed a future/reserve contract with the Jets immediately after last season.

OT Bruce Campbell

He signed with the Jets earlier this month after they cut injured linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. Campbell, a fourth-round draft pick in 2010 by the Raiders, was initially passed over by the Jets when they invited him for a tryout at their minicamp this spring. The Jets have dealt with depth issues on the offensive line in camp, because of injuries to young backups Zach Thompson, Markus Zusevics and Brent Qvale. Campbell helped fill in some of those reps.

WR Michael Campbell

An undrafted player out of Temple in 2011, he spent most of last season on the Jets’ practice squad, after they signed him in August, though he was on the active roster for much of October. The Jets are crowded at the receiver position, even after Evans’s injury. Campbell is the odd man out.

LB Steele Divitto

The Jets grabbed him off the undrafted free agent pile this year. But another under-the-radar linebacker has performed better this summer, and has received reps with the starters in preseason games – A.J. Edds, a fourth-round pick in 2010 who signed with the Jets after a tryout during rookie minicamp.

K Andrew Furney

He never had a shot of making this team, no matter how well he kicked (and he has kicked fairly well). The Jets this season are paying incumbent kicker Nick Folk, coming off the best year of his career, $3.6 million – including a $1.5 million base salary. Furney’s time with the Jets was always going to be an audition for his next team.

DE Anthony Grady

Like Divitto, Grady was signed as an undrafted free agent this year. It seems, to the untrained eye, that Grady has been outperformed this summer by Kerry Hyder, another undrafted free agent defensive end who has drawn praise from coach Rex Ryan.

CB LeQuan Lewis

The Jets just signed him last week, after they cut linebacker Tim Fugger. Lewis was brought in when the Jets’ cornerback depth was limited by injuries. Yes, McDougle is still done for the year, and starter Dee Milliner is nursing a high ankle sprain. But Dimitri Patterson, Ras-I Dowling and Jeremy Reeves have returned to practice. Even though Lewis had a very good practice Wednesday, he is expendable now – unless he somehow manages to outperform Reeves in whatever action they get Friday night against the Giants.

OT Brent Qvale

The undrafted rookie from Nebraska dealt with a concussion during training camp. The Jets’ top backup tackle is Ben Ijalana. Converted guard Oday Aboushi can also play tackle. Zusevics was listed as the second-team tackle opposite Ijalana for the Jets’ second preseason game, at the Bengals. Patrick Ford and Qvale were the third-teamers.

P Jacob Schum

Ryan Quigley seems to have a solid hold on his job, though not as secure as Folk. Like Furney, Schum was signed by the Jets after a tryout during minicamp.

RB Michael Smith

He was a camp signing, like Lewis. The Jets released injured safety Brandon Hardin – their first cut of camp – and picked up Smith, a seventh-round pick in 2012. It was simply a depth-related signing, for training camp purposes. The Jets’ top three running backs are set: Chris Johnson, Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell. Daryl Richardson and Alex Green are competing for the fourth spot.

DE Zach Thompson

Another undrafted rookie who finds himself at a crowded position with more proven players and an undrafted rookie who has played well, Hyder. Thompson missed some time early in camp with a shoulder injury.

FB Chad Young

The Jets are going to keep only one fullback. It seems pretty clear, based on playing time allocation, that Tommy Bohanon will be that guy for the second straight year. Young was part of the undrafted rookie free agent class that also included Divitto, Grady, Hyder, Qvale and Thompson.

OT Markus Zusevics

Like Edds, Zusevics landed with the Jets after a rookie minicamp tryout. He was initially picked up by the Patriots as an undrafted rookie in 2012, but his career has been plagued by injuries. A knee injury hampered him during this camp.

I think Dixon will be kept around and then practice squad.  He is very raw, but has ability and they won't give up on him this quick.

Dixon looked really rocky. He can probably safely make the practice squad. Just hope he develops some.

No surprises in the 1st 7 cuts. I don't think any of them played vs the Giants. Zusevics just has bad injury problems, he might still have a shot in the NFL. Furney needs to keep working - he has potential.n

I don't think Dowling gets cut. Being a CB, they need all the help and depth they can get at that position.

No way Mcdougle was getting cut. Why would you say that? Doubt seriously Evans would have either.

The 2 kickers have been cut, Folk is safe but Quigley should be very worried.

Without a doubt.  Those 25 yard shanks were putrid and it was great weather. ohlord

I think we are getting our cuts done earlier than others,  so we can watch the waiver wire..... we must have an eye on a few CB's that may be cut by other teams....
