Feel bad for McDougle. We just spoke to him yesterday and he talked about how emotional Thursday night was for him. Brutal... # NYJ

Well, CB just became more concerning. What a tough injury for McDougle and the Jets. I felt he had a legitimate chance to challenge Patterson. I really hope Milliner just sprained that ankle, or we're in deep doo-doo at corner.

Re: McDougle torn ACL. Out for the year

Idzik rolled the dice on McDougle as someone who was coming off a season ending shoulder. At first it looked like the gamble paid off, but now it just looks like a wasted pick. This draft has the potential to move into disaster mode if things don't turn around. Almost inconceivable with 12 picks in a pretty stacked draft year.

Re: McDougle torn ACL. Out for the year

Didn't Arizona give Cro a 1 year 2M deal ? That's chump change. We really couldn't have given Cro that type of deal, a proven veteran who's been in Rex system for 3 seasons? Was it worth letting Cro go ? The answer was always no and now the secondary's situation goes into red alert with the mcdougle and milliner injuries. Not saying fire idzik but clearly he made a huge gaffe that might be the reason this season becomes a failure whether we want to admit it or not.

how is it a wasted pick?  his torn ACL had absolutely nothing to do with his previous shoulder injury.  he had no history of knee injuries as far as i'm aware of.  any single player can tear his ACL at any minute.

draft classes aren't evaluated on year 1 results.  it's a tough break for the kid and the team, but his career isn't over.

Why do you think Cromartie signed for a chump change contract?

Re: McDougle torn ACL. Out for the year

Assuming we keep 6 CBs, we are looking at

Milliner, Patterson, Wilson, Walls, Lankster

Then these 4 guys fighting for 1 or perhaps 2 spots

Patrick, Dixon, Reeves, Dowling

From that group Patrick and Reevs have been called out by Rex for their play so far

Our secondary is going to be so bad. No depth and no number 2 really. Yikes. Stafford, cutler, Rodgers , all due up in Sept. Sure hope all the sudden out pass rush is bananas.

Because Cro signed in Arizona for 2 million bucks. With 21 mill in cap room it's embarassing we didn't sign him when a deal that small would've been enough

Cromartie was coming off a below average year and is getting older. I don't blame Idzik for going younger. And for those who think Idzik didn't make an effort at other CB's, think again. Idzik made offers to other FA's like DRC, but wouldn't overpay. That's not whiffing in FA. That's being smart.

Knee jerk, emotionally driven over reactions are inevitable when we experience adversity. It's how some fans cope with bad news like this. Blame the GM. We can't just call it a bad break. We have to attack somebody.

And how much will a rookie CB actually contribute??

Re: McDougle torn ACL. Out for the year

Hobson,

I'm not an Idzik basher; I actually am a fan of his. But, fair or not, injuries are a part of a GM's evaluation. McDougle had some durability concerns and they rolled the dice on his talent. I take no pleasure in saying this: this draft has the all the warning flags of an atrocity. Still early yet, but i am looking hard to find silver linings.

Last year's draft was a banner class and that does earn Idzik some forgiveness in my book, if this class doesn't turn around.

Lakerfan - window open for Reeves?  I wouldn't mind seeing him make the roster.
