Re: June Prediction for the 2014 New Yorks Jets Season

My predication is another really good defensive year and Geno something like 20 TDs 12 INTs and 5 rushing TDs.   The front 7 is going to be trouble with coples having a better year and Pace not being last year's form but still sold, 6-8 sacks.  I think the dbs are going to make mistakes but also be super fast and have a wider range than historically.  I am betting our safeties be more alive in the game plans in stopping the run and blitzing.  Our CB depth should help Ryan with exotic coverages.   I am hoping for 10-6 and grabbing a wild card.

Re: June Prediction for the 2014 New Yorks Jets Season

Very early but my "hope" is we make the playoffs. WE have a young team and there is a lot of talent just need chemistry to build and flourish.  I think one of the things that was missing the last few years – besides the lack of talent on O – was leadership.  Reports that I have read say Geno is stepping up and we have Wilk and others on the D… That is big and was missing.  I think they will be competitive and not vacillate like they did last year.  Now that doesn’t mean they will make the playoffs but I believe they will be more competitive if the Jell as a team.

One final comment, Idzik is the right guy for the team. This team is much better today than when he took over… sure there are still holes but think about the last three years and this team today. Plus, he has had a very positive affect on Rex which I think makes him a better coach.

I see the Jets winning 10 games this year atleast. The defense should be just as good if not better and the D is why the Jets primarily won 8 games last year. This year Geno or Vick has some weapons and hopefully its Geno. I see Decker catching 60-70, Kerley and Amaro catching 50-60 passes, I see Nelson, C. Johnson and Cumberland catching 30-40. Question mark is Hill, if he steps up he can open this offense wide open with 50-60 catches himself. If he doesn't hopefully one of the rookies steps up. Not mentioning the running game that the combo of Johnson, Ivory and Powell should be good for 1500 yards at least, with Geno or Vick running for another 400-700 and a couple of TD's. With these numbers Geno or Vick should lead this team to 10 wins at least and a wild card playoff bid.

Everything depends on Geno Smith's progressing and to a lesser extent the secondary staying healthy. If both happen we will make the playoffs (10-6). Not sure we can unseat the Pats unless Brady gets hurt.

Amaro added to the offense and that DL is good enough for a playoff spot IMO.

Decker's addition should not be ignored as his impact will be immediate and Amaro's may take a bit of time.

Well, IMO, the TE is often the easier target and could open up the field better for Smith rather than the other way around.  Not sure Decker's presence opens up the field for the TE whereas I believe the TE opens the field for the WR.  The TE is an easy, short distance target.  IMO, it gives the QB confidence to have "safety valve" target.  I think that's what Smith needs.

It's really riding on Geno. If he can reverse his TD/INT ratio this year with better weapons, we're built for the playoffs. Strong defense and running game, and "good enough" secondary and o-line.

We also have one of the better fall back options at QB if Geno doesn't get it done. That cannot be overlooked. For that reason, this is a minimum 9 win team.

We play some gunslingers and high powered offenses early in the schedule. If we run and control the ball and our secondary matures quickly then we have a very good shot at 10 wins and a playoff spot.

I'm starting to think our run D will be top 5 our pass D wil be bottom 5 our offense will be much improved but a stage overall (about 15-16) which sounds like an 8-8 recipe to me. A bit more pessimistic than I was 2 months ago, but we're still a 1 wr team with a worse defense.

Hasn't our defense got worse every year Ryan has coached us? I think that continues and we're closer to 15-20 than top 10.

I fully expect our pass D will be in the low 20's (no matter who is back there), simply because I think 65-70% of all opponents plays will be passes....that will be their game plan. I anticipate the back 4 will be better than last year (with Pryor).  Milliner and Cro were awful last year, and I'm not high on Landry.  Milliner and whoever will be better than last year (due to Milliner being better and whoever being the same as Cro).  At this point, I would consider Walls or better yet McDougal.  Let the rookie grow....just as Milliner has grown.  And replace Landry with Pryor.... I think the real problem is going to be Rex trying to deal with TE's in the middle of the field.  His D's have never been able to master that........

Re: June Prediction for the 2014 New Yorks Jets Season

Call me a Jets homer but after watching what I could of the first pre-season game, I believe the Jets still have it in them for a 10-6 season.  Our pass defense is suspect I will admit but I think we will have enough to be ok at the # 2 CB spot with McDougle or a combination of Wilson, McDougle and Patterson.  Patterson did look horrible I will admit and Wilson wasn't impressive either.  I was very very impressed with Milliner though.  Our WR's are an issue and I hope they can get that together.  Decker will do his thing with 60-70 catches atleast.  Kerley, Cumberland and Nelson will contribute as well. Question marks are Hill and Amaro.  I think Amaro will do his part and probably become our # 1 TE.  However; Hill worries me a lot.  I didn't see all of the game but from what I'm reading, he played 3 quarters and wasn't targeting ONCE.  That is very disturbing.  Is he not getting open or do all the OB's not have confidence in him.  Reports are he beena stud in training camp.  I believe overall the defense will hold its on and the o-line and running will be stout.  Question mark is will Geno find away to make the passing game a factor and get Hill involved for 30-40 catches atleast this year?  If not Hill, then will some other WR step up in his place.  I still believe stronger the Jets have a 10-6 season in them.  J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets

My concern is when the Jets play an elite QB (Rodgers, P. Manning, Brady x 2, Rivers, Big Ben, Stafford, and Cutler all on the schedule this year) I have concerns with what they're going to do with this secondary.  Now granted, there were probably very few exotic coverages thrown out by rex yesterday, but Rex isn't going to keep it too vanilla versus Luck either.  It was likely some place in the middle.  Luck only threw 1 incomplete pass yesterday, that one Milliner tipped (that was a very nice play that could have been a pick 6).  Other than versus Milliner, Luck played pitch and catch like his WRs were his kids in his back yard until his center started snapping the ball over his head.  I am worried about the two Brady games.  He just wont throw at Milliner too.

Can't argue any of your points. Secondary has to pull it together or that 10-6 can easily be flipped to 8-8. WR's also need to step up or that 8-8 will be a 6-10 record.
