That this is spun to be the Jets' fault is humorous.

Further evidence that Pettnine was the unnamed source in every leak to the hacks Mehta and Cimini. In my opinion.

Seriously....I heard this on Joe and Evan also......Pettine is a Joke......I've been hating on him for some time now....Hope he has great success with the Browns.....NOT.......
I think Manish is moving there to get the scoop on Johnny.....
Rex gave this guy everything, and he throws it in his face........
If this was a Godfather movie, he wouldn't have made it 5 minutes into the movie........

what's silly is that since Pettine left the Jets, we have replaced both our offensive and defensive coordinators.  so any playbook that Pettine references is very dated.

End of the day, Pettine coaches the browns. Whom, aside from having a nice draft, really haven't done anything. He needs some sort of time in the light. He's a media attention whore, hence the whole possibility of him being the leak when he was with the Jets.

According to the article Saban is the culprit, not MP. MP is the reason that this story was written, reinforcing that he was the leak in the past w the jets.

Agreed. I don't see how this is currently relevant, though the defense may be more relevant than the offense.

There was no specific info given about when the play book fell into NE hands outside of Welker's wedding, whenever that was. Pettine's isnt the reason the playbook is in NE, its Saban and Rex's trust in him. Pettine's tunure here is not the "landmark" telling us it the time when the playbook was in NE. Its actually welkers wedding. All Petrine did was inform the media about what he heard.

Just looked up Welker's wedding date... 6/24/12. So it isn't up to date. 3 for 33 on third down over the course of 2 games against the jets in 2013 reinforces that.

It didn't seem to help them too much last season. They barely beat us in NE, and we beat them at home. That was with a rookie qb leading a gutted roster.

Rex: "It sounds like everybody's got to talk to Pettine because it seems like he's got all the information." #Jets

Rex on New England: "They never had an advantage..."

Rex: "Every year your play book changes, the way you play things...we will be way different this year than from each year." #nyjets #nyj

Rex on Pettine: "I don't understand what he's trying to gain with it." #Jets

Rex: "Your playbook, if you study your opponent, is based on your preparation." #Jets

Rex: "This thing has probably been blown out of proportion a little bit." #Jets

Rex, will you speak to Pettine? "I don't need to. I'm going on vacation."

Rex: "To me, this is a lot to do about nothing." #Jets

What kept out David Harris today? Rex (joking): "The playbook issue." #nyj

With number of Jets & Pats who switched sides in recent years, I'm guessing both teams could've pieced together playbooks if they tried.

Belichick on the #Jets playbook stuff: “Talk to Mike Pettine. I don’t know.“ (via @hbulman)

So much for that.

#BOOM RT @KevinGArmstrong: Alabama staffer says the playbook Rex Ryan gave to Saban is currently sitting in Saban's office in Tuscaloosa.

Folks, if you missed Rex's presser, be careful reading some of the quotes. Lots of tongue-in-cheek stuff mixed in with genuine frustration.

Having another team's playbook is such a huge advantage that the #Jets and #Pats played a pair of 3-point games last year. Get serious...

Re: How? Pats copy of Jets playbook?

Ehhhh, if not for Geno's 4th quarter meltdown last year, we would have swept the Patriots despite them having our play book with a rookie QB and young defense...obviously had no impact when you add up the scores of the two games, which we split, we played New England even last year.  If there was an advantage to having the playbook, they weren't smart enough to capitalize.  This is more exciting to the media than to me.

Also, Saban saying it is in Alabama means nothing, there's a thing called fax machines and scanning into a PDF and sending.  Where it is today means nothing.

Pettine wanting the Browns in the media?  I don't know if anyone noticed, they drafted Johnny Manziel, they're in the media all of the time; usually, for teh wrong reasons.  He may be an attention whore though (Pettine and Johnny).

In the end, interesting read and quotes, but much to do about nothing.

Also, Saban invited Rex to speak at one of their coaching clinics a few years ago and he considers Rex a friend. #nyj
