What position are we most likely to still look to fill?

What position are we most likely to still look to fill?

Barring injury, what position is Idzik most likely to still make a move - either by signing a remaining free agent, making a trade, or looking for a waiver pick up?

QB
LOW
Geno and Vick are 1 and 2, Simms and Boyd will fight it out for #3. If both Simms and Boyd struggle, that could lead to a move

RB
LOW
Johnson and Ivory will do the heavy lifting, Powell is solid, Green, Goodson, and Richardson might contribute.

FB
LOW to MEDIUM
Bohanon was solid, Young has potential, but there are some good veteran FBs out there, so you never know

TE
MEDIUM
Cumberland and Amaro seem like a good 1-2, but maybe Sudfeld can be improved upon - if the right player is waived, Idzik might pull the trigger

OL
LOW to MEDIUM
Hard to see any major moves being made on the OL. There's a lot of depth and some promising younger players. But, maybe a veteran backup at tackle or a veteran that can play 3 positions could be an option

DL
LOW
Barring injury, we are set on the DL - always a chance a guy will be signed as a camp body, of course

LB
LOW to MEDIUM
We have a lot of athletic LBs on the roster, but a lot of question marks. A veteran back up or a promising younger player who gets cut might be worth a shot

CB
LOW
We signed a free agent and drafted 2 CBs, plus we picked up Patrick off waivers, so we have an influx of bodies. Maybe if the right player is released on the last cuts, that could be an option

S
MEDIUM to HIGH
Pryor looks promising, Landry was okay, Allen can play - he's not bad, Bush and Jarrett are just sort of there. Miles has potential. Would not surprise me if a remaining vet free agent is brought in to the mix. I'm not 100% convinced Ed Reed won't be back

Punter
HIGH to VERY HIGH
Was Quigley horrible, no, but there is an army of veteran punters out there, one of which will be brought in - the UDFA Palardy might be an option

Kicker
LOW to MEDIUM
They like to bring in a kicker in camp to keep Folk focused, so that will probably happen again

Snapper
LOW to MEDIUM
Always good to Have a back up around just in case

WR isn't on the list, but that may be one place where the team looks. I don't know, though, after the draft. Aside from specials, I think the Jets may seek help at OLB.

It's more likely to find a cut OLB than a legit top two WR. A good WR would require dealing picks. And since Idzik is more likely to pick up a cut than he is to trade picks for a player, I would put OLB over WR.

Oh yeah, forgot WR!

I would say LOW to MEDIUM

Barring injury, with the signing of Decker and Ford, return of Kerley, Nelson, and Hill and drafting 3 WRs, not to mention 3 or 4 decent back up prospects (eg Salas, Gates, Hakim), we should be okay at WR. But, there are some decent veteran free agent WRs out there and it's always possible a player Marty loves will become available

I still think CB is at the top of that list the two guys we picked up are nice depth guys and I can't see depending on a rookie paired with a second year kid..There will be corners cut come June 1st I think the Jets will pick up a veteran to play opposite Milliner..And should a quality WR get the ax for cap purposes they might jump there too..

Pass rushing 3-4 OLB has to be the #1 priority left for Idzik.
Calvin Pace has been in HYATT™'s crosshairs for several seasons now.

Both OG slots also need improvement, another prospect contender for RT is certainly not beyond question, and as hard as it may be to swallow, the Jets REALLY need to start developing THOR's replacement, (and backup in case of injury), at Center.
Is there really a suitable replacement for 'Brick, if heaven forbid, should he incur a season-ending injury?
OL is truly a place where improvements can and should be made for both starters and quality depth.

HYATT™ is certainly not sold on any of the 4 in line to wrestle for the franchise QB position either but for right now Vick & Boyd will do.

Well, there's a difference between where we need long term help and where we might add someone this season.

Yes, we could use an elite pass rusher, but it seems unlikely that we could get anyone better then what we have right now for 2014. Barnes, Pace, and one of the rookies (IK or Reilly) will have to do. Maybe a hot shot younger player who a team tries to stash on their practice squad might be a target as better than our #3 guy

This discussion demonstrates the sound organization of this year's Jets offseason effort. There is no position where one can say we must take action. This means we can go in any one of a number of directions - go where the quality appears and bargain from a solid posture and not desperation.

CB is a possibility only because of Patterson's injury history. Nothing to do with talent. He is starter material.

WR could be an option if a really good receiver becomes available, kind of like Boldin becoming available via trade when Baltimore didn't want to pay him.

Other than that, I think the Jets are ready to go.
