Hakeem Nicks available via trade

Hakeem Nicks available via trade

PFT is reporting as the Giants continue to fall, and knowing they do not intend to resign Nicks, they are considering trading free agent to be WR Nicks.

Would you trade a 2nd or 3rd rd pick for Nicks or play it out with Holmes, Hill, and Kerley?

Gotta say with 2 3rd rd picks next year, i'd consider the trade knowing we cant land anyone in the 3rd rd of next year's draft for that kind of talent.

pending free agent looking for a big payday who has an injury history makes me weary.  don't know if he puts the jets over-the-top this year.  and not sure I want to pay him #1 WR money, which is what he probably wants.

3rd: yes, I think I would.

2nd: absolutely not. Nicks has been dropping some pretty catchable balls and just looks like he's not into it this year.

Ivory for a 4th is looking like Idzik's worst move so far.

NO.....I would not give up draft picks.....at least nothing higher than a 6....for Hakeem Nicks.

Save those precious picks.

He's worth a 3rd rounder for sure, but the Giants have had a lot of trouble keeping him on the field. I think that is part of the reason they are souring on him. Also, as Hobson points out, he is not a #1 receiver.

I'd rather see what Spadola truly has before the Jets begin to look into players with a history of injuries.  If its for a 5th, then sure.  Though i'm sure the Giants wont bite on it.

If the Giants lose tomorrow the price goes down...sharply.  Even in that scenario, I wouldn't give up much for him.  A 6th?

Nicks looked much better @ UNC than he has with the Giants. Give Spadola a shot and wait on the draft.

Man, I really wish he didn't drop that easy ball week 1.  Hopefully he gets another shot.  He can only drop only so many balls when the lights are on before he is typing posts on this site like us.

I hope the Jets know that it wasn't a drop, rather a punch out through Spadola grasp.
I hated the fact that Gates was activated last week and 85 was deactivated.
Gotta give this young kid a chance.

Gates-GREAT SPEED and no hands

Spadola-average speed and good hands=good route running

No.  Idzik is trying to get the Jets younger and cheaper.  That means staying the course and not trading picks for pending free agents that will not get better, and probably get worse.
I would accumulate picks, not trade them away.

A late round pick maybe. I don't see Nicks as a different player than Hill, shows up every couple of games, drops some catchable balls but looks like he should be awesome. I say try to develope some chemistry with the receivers we have and address in the offseason.

I'm on board with Idzik's philosophy, seems to be working so far.  Also, we are gonna be paying big to lock up Big Mo long term, so no quick WR fixes.  Remember this a semi-rebuilding year, let it play out and see what we can get in the upcoming draft.  I think a Marquise Lee type WR and a stud TE like the kid at Oregon.

Kenny Britt is available too.  I'd rather have him in for a late round pick for a half a season tryout with Geno.  If he is good resign him...

Re: Hakeem Nicks available via trade

I would like to see Geno throwing to Braylon Edwards because Geno throws high balls, and that is Braylon's specialty.

Also cut Gates and bring in Josh Cribbs KR, PR/ WR. He was the premier KR in the NFL for years. Gates is afraid to get hit. He catches everything in practice because they're not trying to kill you, but in a game, he plays like Jane ! Cribbs can play WR & RB & Wildcat.

Throw to Ben Obomanu WR #15 more. He reminds me of Cotchery.

Go Jets...Cyborg

RE: Hakeem Nicks available via trade

Wouldn't shock me to see the Giants franchise him at seasons end. I believe he wants to return to Carolina which is his home. Could be a perfect match and he's worth a ton at only 26 years old. The Giants best receiver would be far and away be the best receiver on most NFL teams.
