Chris Ivory traded to the Jets (for 4th Round pick)

  1. Jets traded their 4th round pick to Saints RB Chris Ivory. Like that move.

    Expand

Jets traded for former Saints RB Chris Ivory -- now official.

would have rather given up a 5th, but I guess they like him more than the RBs that may have been on the board

Good trade for Ivory.  He and Goodson will make a good 2 back system.

should have held out for the 5th. worst move of the day, imo. saints would've taken the 5th once we used our 4th.

I hear ya Hobs, but there isn't a RB left in the draft that can punish opponents like Ivory in the 4rth round.

I honestly feel at this point in the draft, we have 5 starters on both sides of the ball-including Geno Smith.
Bravo Idzik, building through the draft as he said.  Now Ivory needs an actual contract.

Good pick. We have a bunch of new starters.
Still need TE. WR OLB S.
TE and S are the biggest need!

banghead

I just get through saying how this might be the Jets' best draft ever, and they go and do this.  The Saints just wanted to unload Ivory, so giving them a 4th is too much.  They would have been better off drafting a RB there.  Ivory is just another guy, another mediocre RB like Goodson.

More than I wanted to give up but a good need player and a big help to a young QB. So a positive trade

With the 2 new RBs new QB and new lineman we are already a vastly better O than last year

QUESTION:
Do you like Marshawn Lynch?  If you do, your going to love Ivory.  The few touches he's had he has shined.  He has fresh legs and is abeast running.

This is the right kind of move for Geno Smith. Get him some good support player. The guard will help out with this. We still may need more playmakers on offense but we have enough to know Geno's talent. I would like to get a TE and then call it a day

Chris Ivory = Thomas Jones as far as having limited tread used up throughout his first few seasons, ready to become a beast.

Jets & Hawkeyes. I must enjoy torturing myself. >.<

I feel Idzik, with the restructuring of D'bricks contract and possibly releasing Tebow to free up some more cap space, he may opt to sign a free agent Tight end as in Kevin Boss who is still out there.

We're worse at RB on paper (Greene is better than either Goodson or Ivory).  At QB, Sanchez will have to improve, or Smith will have to start and play well as a rookie.  I will give you that the line is better.

We're better on defense, I think, even with losing Revis, but I'm not sure if we're better or worse on offense yet.  We are better at OC (can't be worse there!)

RE: Chris Ivory traded to the Jets

Not a huge fan of this move

Jonathan Franklin is still on the damn board

Injury prone RB that had a few good runs in a spread formation where defenses were constantly playing the pass...Jets front office better know something I don't

Would've settled for a 5th but a 4th?  We were clearly desperate for this guy, which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing

There could be a reason he was 4th on the depth chart, but here's hoping there wasn't...

Jets now expected to sign newly-acquired RB Chris Ivory to a long-term contract, per sources. Deal called "likely."

Sanchez is history already IMO it's Smith starting

So what does it mean for Powell and McKnight? I'm not crazy about either. Do we just keep Powell as a backup or McKnight as a kick returner?

Re: Chris Ivory traded to the Jets

He hasn't shown he can carry the load but he still has fresh legs and is probably less of a risk than any 4th rounder we take (I agree a 5th is more in his range considering the Saints can't carry all of them). Great move. I think we will be upgraded at RB tbh. Great competition bt Goodson, Ivory, and Powell
