The Jets and Chargers have a healthy rivalry, and a topic has come up on our forum that I thought I should send an invite to you guys for discussion.

My argument is that a big problem with our team is that our D has a complete lack of an Intimidation Factor.  We have zero identity, and zero players that are feared in the NFL.

My personal hope is that we can lure LaRon Landry from the Jets, and I feel that he will test the market.  Ever since we allowed Rodney Harrison to go to the Patriots, we have never been able to adequately replace him....  I feel that Landry is that guy.

So here are my questions (and feel free to drop by using the link below to join the discussion):
1.  Some feel that Landry is a "huuuuuge liability" in coverage.
2.  Most feel that Landry's style of play draws "waaaay too many" penalties.
3.  Some feel that he did not contribute to the Jets' top 5 pass defense and that it was all because of your top CB's.

Any truth to these arguments?

Do Jets fans want to keep Landry?

How big of a loss would it be if Landry moved on?

As far as Landry is concerned, I'd love to be able to resign him, but I don't think we'll have the cap space. He does play better around the line of scrimmage than in space, but he did make some plays in coverage for us. He cut down on the penalties as the year went on.

His heel is a concern, but I also believe PED use should be as well. There is supposed to be HGH testing this season for the first time. I would definitely include language in the contract to protect the team.

Landry rates out at the 10th spot in a safety-deep FA class.  Not good timing considering the depth of safeties coming out in the draft is similarly impressive.

That being said, I would love to see Landry come back to Green and White.  Rumors are afloat that we will move on from Revis while we can cash-in on his value...not a bad thing considering our combo of Wilson and Cro helped contribute to the league's #2 ranked pass defense.  However, a huge part of that, I feel, was the intimidating presence of Landry.  Sometimes "attitude" alone is a contributing factor that cannot be measured in statistics...and Landry has attitude in folds.
