Yes- Scott Cohen was sigining players while the GM search was still going on after Tanny got axed.

The New York Jets have signed WR Joe Collins, WR Emmanuel Arceneaux, DE Claude Davis and SS Bret Lockettto futures contracts. T

Re: Good site that lists all 2013 NFL Free Agents

1st and foremost have to shore up that O-line:
Gosder Cherilus-O.T
Kory Lichtensteiger-OG
Ramon Foster-OG

2nd-in no particular order
Chase Daniels -QB
Chris Ivory-RB
Delanie Walker-T.E
Malcolm Floyd-WR
Anthony Fasano t.E/Or Logan Paulsen
Maybe even Titus Young in June {but the guy needs a good sit down talk-Could very well be Mourningwig's DeSean Jackson for this offense}

3rd-I'd go defense
Connor Barwin-OLB
Ryan Mundy-FS
Kenny Philips-SS

This team needs help on the offensive side of the ball desperately.  I'am very confident in John Idzik that he will have many new faces on this side of the ball with a possible splashes on defense to help the pass rush.
I know many want LaRon Landry back, but that achillies issue he has is one wrong turn away from snapping. I dont want this team investing a ton of cash towards him while larger holes remain unfilled.
Unlike last year, the O-Line must be the prime focus to help Marty's system function.  Yes, Mark has been irradic to say the least, but when your back up gets his 1st career start and gets concussed after getting pumbled 10 times to the ground, there's a reason for such a down spiral of regression.
We need a RB with explosion with a solidified O-Line; Chris Ivory or Reggie Bush fill that need.
I'd love to see Braylon Back.  Though Malcolm Floyd isnt a bad alternative either.  Deceptive speed and a big body at 6'5".  Also would like to see how Marty works with Stephen Hill.
Tight end imho has to be a focal point as well.  The WCO always finds a way to amplify the use of this position. Paulsen looks like an up and comer and may come cheap.  Ditto with Fasano. I'm ready to cut ties with Dustin.
Connor Barwin-i know many are laughing here but hear me out; I feel Idzik will finagle his way to chat with his own players to quite possibly restructure their deals in order to add some quality to special athletes to this squad.  Even the guaranteed $$ many players will be owed this year , maybe can be dispersed through a contract extension.
I'm truly looking forward to the beginning of free agency.  I think the Jets will be players and will change many faces on a squad that have led us to two disappointing season.

+1 LIJETFAN, unfortunately I think much of the fan base still chooses to ignore the fact even after we cut players & restructure deals and possibly trade Cro we will still have a limited amount of cap room to sign a lot of players...better off building through the draft that's how successful teams do it...I'm seeing what I'm going to call "Tannen-holm Syndrome" from a lot of Jets fans, since they want to continue to run the team the same way that got us in trouble in the first place by spending loads of money in free agency and making other questionable moves like the GM everyone ran out of town wouldve made them...I'm just baffled by some of the ways the Jets fan base thinks at times

It's like basically saying "I wanted a guy with a new name b/c I got bored and I want to make the same moves and run the team the same way Tannenbaum wouldve"

Whoaw easy there ILDUCE24 . I'm pretty aware of our cap situation and not ignoring it by any stretch.  Though it is a wish list and more importantly, it's the position we need to address either via free agency or the draft.  So many place 90% of the 2012 campaign soley on Mark Sanchez but refuse to acknowledge the fact that it goes above and beyond that kid's arm.
Also, the way our cap looks at this moment may not look the same in two months.  No one including myself has any clue what Idzik has planned to free up cap space.
Out of all the players on this list the one that may command the most cash may be Connor Barwin.  Though it won't be Holmes or Revis style cash.  Idzik is deemed by many as a "#'s"  guy.  I'm going to give this guy a huge benefit of the doubt in that he can make a splash here or there by adjusting some of our own to acquire certain services of athletes that can contribute to this squad.
Let's keep in mind that the players that will free up our cap number and a large chunk of it is Jason Smith who is owed 12mil. Pace-Eric Smith-Bryan Thomas-Bart Scott-Brandon Moore-Mike Devito-Lex Hilliard-Chaz Schillens-Dustin Keller will not be retained by all indication thus freeing up space as well.
Cro, Holmes and Revis are potential trade bait that can also be dealt.
Also there has to be players on this squad willing to restructure their respective deals to clear some room for $$ to help this team for '13.
Make no mistake, there will be enormous discrepency from the Jets in Rex's 1st year than there will be in '13.  A NYJ Face lift is bound to occur.  Coaches-Management and ownership know they need to make this happen in order for this team to be re-directed into a winning path.
There is six months until training camp; From this point onwards, i and no one else can fathom what product will be competing for jobs.
Shifts and player movement/contracts in creating cap space are on the horizon.

Honestly, I'd be happy if we resigned Landry and added Walker TE 9ers.  If we can steal Jackson OLB Redskins I'd fall off the table (4.5 sacks and 4 INTs filling in for Orakpo last year, a 265lbs that can cover and get to the QB, sign me up).

Rest of the holes will need to be addresses through the draft.

RE: Good site that lists all 2013 NFL Free Agents

Yeah I didn't mean anything personal nyjetdan16 but you're incorrect that DeVito, Moore, Keller, Thomas or any other free agents will free up cap space...that 19.4 million over the cap is not including people who no longer have deals, and like I said even after we cut all that dead weight we'll be about 10-20 million under with a lot of work to do plus a good amount set aside for the draft class...just go to nyjetscap.com and read up a bit b/c that guy knows what's going on and how we will free up cap space, actually a lot of people do b/c it's obvious...like I said restructuring deals like Mangold, D'Brick, maybe Holmes or Harris and trading Cro (8.25 mil in cap space) would free up more room but you also have to take into account dead money on the cap that comes from cutting some guys as well as the fact that NO ONE would trade for Holmes and take on his entire salary, we'd be paying at least half still...also it may be difficult to understand but trading Revis would actually cost us cap room and add $9 million in dead money to next year's cap and I think $3 million to this year's...but yeah I've said it in other threads plenty that all that dead weight will be cut we'll restructure a few deals and maybe trade Cro and end up w/ a decent amount of cap space but it's stupid to sign all those players you listed...we need quality inexpensive free agent signings not throwing money at big names like we used to...guys like Victor Butler or Rob Jackson are more cost effective moves over a guy like Barwin although I'd take him if he's asking for a reasonable deal but we'll only sign a few guys from the huge list you had

We shall see my friend.  Like i said, we as fans have no clue how Idzik will attack this off-season.  Hopefully the product is much better than what we've seen here in a while.
Here's a good article on how quite possibly there may be a way to create more than expected cap space.  I really paid no mind with the Flacco part, but the body of the story can be imho what Idzik may have in mind:
{http://www.ganggreennation.com/2013/2/7/3961724/br oadway-joe-flacco}
There has to be a plan going into this season.  I feel it's really not "that stupid" signing players that can make an immediate impact. Hell, we've sigined inexpensive free agents last year just to go 6-10.
I know it just looks surreal at this point and remotley impossible.  Though that's why the new GM is getting paid big time bucks here.  I'm more than sure this was discussed in the interview process as well on how to fix this 2013 cap nightmare.
In saying so, from the article, The Ravens are in a worse position than us and no one in the NFL is talking about it.

Demetrius Bell just got released by the Philadelphia Eagles.  If the price is right, he would be an upgrade over Austin Howard.

RE: Good site that lists all 2013 NFL Free Agents

That's the point nyjetdan16...we had a bunch of overpaid washed up vets and went 6-10...why? Because that's NOT how successful teams and consistently winning teams are built, we're not going "all in" for one more ride trying to get over the hump and win a SB, this team needs a MAJOR OVERHAUL and INFUSION of YOUNG TALENT...it would be a mistake to throw money at a bunch of guys in free agency and trust me, there is no way we'd sign all those guys you listed since they certainly wouldn't come cheap, not to mention teams never sign that many starters in one free agency period...go to nyjetscap.com and read the articles about cap management, we're not in a bad situation once we make the right moves but signing a bunch of vets is a stupid move, signing maybe a starter or two, re-signing a couple of our own on the cheap and then drafting starters is the way to go...it's time to get creative so don't be surprised when we don't sign any big names when March rolls around

And I really don't want to be an a-hole, but did you watch any Eagles games this season? Demetress Bell (who has only played on the left side btw and been pretty bad) was absolutely disgusting and lost out to King Dunlap who is definitely worse than Howard...OUR OL WAS RANKED 3RD IN THE FRIGGIN NFL BY PFF...Howard was DOMINANT run blocking and coming along in pass protection even being on an island by himself (which Morhninweg will fix by giving him some more help like he did w/ his tackles in Philly)...Howard is not the issue at all, he's athletic as a former tight end and projects to fit MM's system pretty well...Sanchez is the problem dude, watch the tape...the dude can't make a read, holds onto the ball forever, hesistates...that's why he got sacked most of the time, so give it a rest, we don't need a right tackle, esp not one who is worse than the guy we have

RE: Good site that lists all 2013 NFL Free Agents

You're just further proving my point of "Tannen-holm Syndrome"...you wanted the guy run out of town yet you want to continue to build the team the same way we did in 2009-11 by trying to win now and blowing money on free agents, I'd much rather re-sign Revis than sign any of the free agents on the market this year...look at a team like the Eagles, they went all in and they're picking 4th, the Raiders liked to blow money on free agents and waste picks in trades and they're picking 3rd...the Bills everyone's offseason darling b/c they looked so good on paper w/ their free agent signings are picking 8th...free agency should purely be to supplement your roster and sign a starter or two here or there, not a player for every position you need to be a starter like you suggested, that's irresponsible and just a bad way to build a team...there's a reason most players make it to free agency in the 1st place, they either want to much money or they're not worth keeping

RE: Good site that lists all 2013 NFL Free Agents

And in response to the GGN article (a site I normally respect), it was written by someone I haven't read on that site before...likely because he was in an alley somehwere hitting a pipe...the genius fails to realize that the Ravens are going to let most of their FAs walk...they'll re-sign or tag Flacco, re-sign Ellerbe, put RFA tenders on Pitta, Dickson, McClellan & Bynes, re-structure/extend Boldin and maybe re-sign McKinnie to a cheap deal...Paul Kruger, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis (retiring), Cary Williams, Art Jones and Kemoeatu will all be allowed to walk and sign elsewhere...doesn't take much logic to figure it out, the owner has already admitted he will pay Flacco and that Flacco has earned his money...the Ravens are a smart franchise and they know a franchise QB is worth more than any of those free agents combined and they will keep their guy...it's just BS speculation since bloggers are bored just like the Jets had a shot @ Brees last year, do yourself a favor and don't listen to the pipe dreams like this, you'll just get your hopes up unecessarily and be inevitably disappointed

Edit: also the article is so friggin wrong on so many levels...the defense carried the Ravens? Their D played relatively bad this year, he must've gotten hit in the head and thinks it's the 2000 Ravens D...Flacco went 5-1 since Caldwell became OC with some pretty impressive stats, and similar to the way the Steelers did things, they replace the vets with unknowns that they have sitting behind them who fit right into their role...Paul Kruger, replacement: Courtney Upshaw...Ray Lewis, replacement: Jameel McClain...Ed Reed, replacement: Jimmy Smith? or a draft pick (that one is the one unsure spot)...Ma'ake Kemoeatu (although they could prob keep him for vets minimum), replacement: Terrence Cody, and pretty much everyone else has a replacement already on the roster...Flacco is the guy you can't replace he's the one you sign, and then Ellerbe is your 2nd priority, RFAs get tendered, and that's that...a lot of times it's just a next guy needs to step up type of deal

Fair enough, always respectful of course, don't get me wrong I agree on some of the points you made, I just think the proven formula is building through the draft and it being supplemented by smart quality moves in free agency...wouldn't mind signing a couple of guys on your list but even if we had the cap room don't think it would be smart trying to get all of them

Completely agree. As i said in a previous post, i just feel those are the position of dire need.  The team must { and i think they will} address them.
If its through the draft or free agency, the product must get better to help every unit.
The overall aspect this team needs imho, is heart. Hopefully with the right combo of acquisitions, we can get that.  We've been waiting a long time as fans brother wink

Dannell Ellerbee LB 6'1"/228 seemed very active for the Raven Playoff run. Granted he is small for a 3-4 LB, but very aggressive.noidea
