Re: My current odds on the Jets 1st round draft pick

Would be shocked to see us taking a KAllen at #9, so the odds there have to be 50:1.  Mingo makes the most sense to me because of need and projected availability at #9, so what are the odds - 4:1? Using the same logic as Mingo, how about Fisher 6:1 and Warmack 7:1?  Jordan is an intriguing athlete, but seems awful light for his height.

I would have said 50-1 on Allen if Sparano was still OC, but with Mornhinweg, I think a WR is in play at #9 - we'll have to see if anyone emerges as a threat to Allen as #1 WR at the combine

I like those odds, still holding out hope that Damontre Moore doesn't put on a show @ the combine or 4 QBs go before us and push the top stud edge rushers down like Moore or Werner

And I think Cordarrelle Patterson ends up being the first WR off the board come April

No way 4 QB's are picked before 9. Also very little to no chance that Moore will still be there. I could see maybe Jones OLB falling to us. Please NO Mingo !

I agree that Patterson will go before Allen; however, the draft experts are thinking Allen.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Food for thought my friend Cy...QBs get pushed up the board every year, who knows maybe this year is different but KC, Jax, Oakland, Philly, Cleveland, Zona & Buffalo could all be looking QB before us...Pick any of those 4 teams and throw Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, Mike Glennon & Tyler Wilson into those slots and you have 4 QBs going before we pick...for example, Geno Smith to KC, Barkley to Oakland, Glennon to Zona & Wilson to Buffalo (I won't include Nassib b/c that speculation of Nassib to Buffalo is just too lazy for me but I'll admit it's also a possibility)...of course it all depends on how free agency shakes out and how the rest of the pre-draft process goes, just saying you never know, I don't think anyone thought 4 QBs would go in the top 12 in 2011, but it happened...Ponder was considered a 2nd rounder and Locker was considered a late 1st or early 2nd all throughout the process up until draft day, people thought Dalton was the guy who was going to sneak into the late 1st...although I had a feeling Locker was going to Tennessee b/c there were whispers out there that they were enamored with him

QB or Star. The Jets will be in on the QB frenzy or have Star pushed to them because of it.

RE: My current odds on the Jets 1st round draft pick

Yeah, too early to really get a great read on it...but I say pass rusher is their top priority so that's their pick...could be a guy like Vaccaro @ FS or Star @ NT...don't see them taking a QB though, I still believe when it comes to draft day 2, 3 or even maybe 4 QBs go before we pick, and they will be total reaches...however, I will admit it seems slightly possible only 1 QB goes before we pick and I'd just hope we don't pull the trigger on a 2nd or 3rd round talent @ QB in the top 10...so who knows, anything goes on draft day, I guess they could take a QB, just hope they don't, think we need to see how free agency plays out first

I also like Vaccaro at #9 if he passes the speed test. Star could start at the nose or DT, he will have more value than a 34 OLB. Idzick also can't just pigeon hole himself to Rex's defense, his vision must be beyond Rex's make or break year.

Wonder what are the odds of the Jets trading down a couple of spots and getting more picks?

I've never bought into the adage of we have too much money invested at one position when it's referring to the offensive line. There's nothing more important to a team other than the QB. If Warmack is the guy, if Fisher is the guy then take him and don't look back.. Protecting the franchise is job one.

Re: My current odds on the Jets 1st round draft pick

While I understand there is a need at LB, this team is so deficient on the offensive side of the ball that find it hard to believe they wouldn't go offense say 3 of the 1st 4. Obviously if they were to trade Revis for picks, giving them maybe 5 picks in the 1st 3 rounds, that would change things

RE: My current odds on the Jets 1st round draft pick

Our D was also extremely deficient in the pass rushing (sacks) and run D dept...despite us not giving up as much yards as other teams we still gave up A LOT of points which makes our "8th" ranked D very misleading since we gave up 23.4 points per game ranking us 20th...

I just feel the right thing to do is take the best impact player available @ 9 and then focus on filling holes later...also depends how free agency goes, but we have a lot of holes on both sides of the ball so I don't see how anyone can predict how we'll use a certain amount of our picks on players on one side of the ball, you take the best guy on your board that fits your team...would not mind trading back for more picks

Also, since everyone has a man crush on Warmack, how will you feel if he ends up being a bust and a dominant pass rusher goes soon after us? How sure are YOU, personally, that he will be a perennial Pro Bowler, not just regurgitating what you hear the draftniks say? Guys like Jason Smith & Aaron Curry were super safe picks in the 2009 draft, that turned out well didn't it? The Jets will be endlessly mocked if they draft Warmack and he busts...and just to throw it out there since 1989 only one OG has gone in the top 10 and he went on to be a solid but not special player whatsoever and never made a single Pro Bowl...since 1985 there were 5 OGs (1 in 85, 1 in 86, 2 in 88 (one of them being a Jets pick - Dave Cadigan) and 1 in 97) drafted in the top 10 and only 1 ever made the Pro Bowl...so just keep that in mind

Best player available, or trade back please. Don't think I want Mingo.

I like this pool of players for us.  It's early and I haven't done my due diligence in scouting yet, but right now I want either Warmack, Jones or Jordan.  I wish we had two picks in the top 15.

I think #9 might be too high for Warmack-that being said I think we could trade down a few spots, pick up a 2nd or 3rd and still get him. If we got him at #9 I would still be good with it.
