Another famous Jets fan declares - indirectly

In the movies and TV famous people often declare their favorite sports teams as part of scene dialogue.
In many cases it's one subject where actors insist on inserting their real-life favorite team - sometimes at odds with the setting of the piece itself or it's context when a more geographically pertinent team would better fit the script - though not in this particular case.

One of the more recent to "come out" is Aaron Sorkin - via Jeff Daniels, in his role of news anchor Will McAvoy in the HBO series "The Newsroom".

Born in Georgia, raised and educated in Michigan, (Chelsea & CMU), transplanted to NYC where he has starred in many on & off Broadway plays for a time, Daniels now resides back in Chelsea, MI.
Daniels is just repeating, (The West Wing/Moneyball/A Few Good Men), Aaron Sorkin's script lines, and has stated he promised he wouldn't change a line in the script - that being a Jets fan is Will McAvoy's choice, not his.

I take that to mean he isn't a Jets fan, but I ALSO take that to mean Sorkin IS!
As a Manhattan-born, Scarsdale-raised, & Syracuse-educated native New Yorker, I suppose it shouldn't surprise anyone.

Anyhoo, hear it for yourself, beginning at 2:00 into the video clip.

(You REALLY should stick around after that line, because what follows may be the most honest 4 minutes of TV ever produced, but that's for another forum.)

Re: Another famous Jets fan declares - indirectly

Sorkin has done this in the past. In The West Wing, he had Josh Lyman as a die-hard Mets fan, while Toby Ziegler was a devout Yankees fan. I'm not sure which Sorkin is, but it would not shock me if he was Jets/Mets. He even has McAvoy dating the head of the Jets' cheerleaders briefly during The Newsroom.

At least if he is Jets/Yankees it eases the pain of being a Jet fan a bit...I know it helps me lol

Being Jets/Mets is brutal, I can assure you.

Then again, the Yanks have largely underwhelmed the past decade in October.

True, Yanks kept me entertained when I was young, they have plenty of issues though...kind of remind me of the Jets w/ all their overpaid washed up players...my pops is a Jets/Mets fan, so I did like the Mets when I was little and went to several games @ Shea...still don't mind the Mets but it was tough for me not to be a Yanks fan when they started winning those World Series when I was like 10...

Lol yeah I saw that a few days ago...just means they have no majority of likes on facebook in the NY/NJ counties besides Nassau or Queens whichever one is green lol...but that's not surprising considering the Gmen won the SB last year and plenty of casual people are just fair weather fans and like whichever team is winning at that time

of course it was aimed at me.  and i was ignoring it until now.

for some reason, jetman55 thinks we have some type of rivalry, be it posts on this board or our respective colleges.  but, to play along, i'll take my michigan degree and the michigan football and basketball teams over those from state college any day...

we are... blah2

I don't think it can be a rivalry since I don't then PSU has played Michigan since 2010 (could be wrong but I'm pretty sure). BTW, we won that game 41-31.
