Difficult Decisions ?

Difficult Decisions ?

Idzik has some very difficult decisions ahead of him. Tannenbaum left us in salary cap Hell. Here are my thoughts:

QB's
McElroy - Bring Greg back to compete.
Sanchez - We are financially tied to Sanchez. I would trade him for Flynn.
Simms - Baby Simms has a cannon of an arm & great Genes.

RB's / FB's
Baker - H-Back, special teams.
Greene - If we can bring him back cheap, otherwise see ya.
Griffin - This is the Mass. kid I know nothing about.
Hilliard - I liked him better than Conner, but we can upgrade here.
McKnight - I'm still waiting on Joe to break-out.
Powell - Looked very good near the end of the season, but is he our "Bell Cow" ?

WR's
Edwards - I would sign him if he's cheap, otherwise go younger.
Gates - He a 4.2 but is he worth keeping ?
Hill - Hope he turns into our # 1 WR this year.
Holmes - One more year before we can move away from Holmes contract.
Kerley - He's our slot WR.
Schillens - Chaz you never lived up to your hype.
White - He was injured all season, but is he our next Cotchery ?

TE's
Cumberland - I'm waiting for his break-out game / season.
Epps - After Tebow got this guy's knees destroyed, I'm not sure ?
Keller - I see Keller wanting huge bucks based on his 3 previous years, instead of this one. Let him walk.
Reuland - If cheap, he is a keeper.
Smith - He should go back to Rugby.

OL
Mangold - Sign him for life.
Moore - I would like a one year deal to cover our bases.
Schlauderaff - He is a LG only, but can play back-up center behind Mango.
Slauson - He's gone. did not like Callahan leaving, then splitting duty with Vlad.
Ducasse - Give him one more year before we cut bait.
Smith - I wish he would come back with a cheaper contract, but I'm afraid he wants to start somewhere.
Ferguson - Great LT and long term keeper.
Howard - We have so many other holes to fill. I think Howard looked pretty good once he got comfortable.

DL
Coples - He might be All-Pro this season. Great # 1 pick.
DeVito - I think DeVito loves Rex and the Jets; however, it's up to his agents. He could be a Patriot if we don't sign him ?
Wilkerson - The other All-Pro bookend.
Ellis - He stands up and gets blown off the ball. Is he tough enough to play NT in our 3-4 or better suited as a 4-3 DT ?
Harrison - Hope the Pillsbury Dough Boy is in the weight room as we speak. Sloppy fat.
Pouha - I love Sione but I'm afraid we can't afford to re-sign him.

LB's
Bellore - Great special teams player.
Davis - Our youngest & fastest LB.
Harris - Needs to re-negotiate and have a bigger year.
Mauga - Can he make the team ?
McIntyre - I'm not jumping up & down over him. Big & strong but not fast.
Pace - Thanks for the memories @ Wake Forest and as a Jet.
Sapp - He's close with no cigar. He's had plenty of chances.
Scott - Can't wait to see who you are playing for next season ?
Thomas - Solid career, just nothing great. Enjoy retirement.

DB's
Revis - #1 Queston, do we re-sign him or trade him.
Trufant - This smurf is a good player against the slot.
Berry - Showed potential before his injury.
Cromartie - If we sign Revis, then we might trade Cro. I doubt we see Cro & Revis play together anymore ?
Lankster - Another smurf who is fast.
Wilson - We drafted him as our #2 CB not a nickel back.
Bush - After playing 3 years as CB @ Wake, he might be a good FS.
Harris - I know nothing about him ?
Fletcher - I don't know a lot about him ?
Walls - N/A
Bell - Old as dirt but he can still play.
Landry - He will NOT be a Jet next season. It's all about the $$$.
Smith - I won't be surprised if Reach is on our roster again because rex loves him ?
Allen - He could be huge against TE's this year in a hybrid SS/LB spot.

ST's
Folk - Unless he wants a bigger contract, I would keep him.
Purdum - Long snapper, enough said.
Malone - I liked our new punter.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Nick Folk (1 year deal)
Austin Howard (tender)
Brandon Moore (cheap 1-2 year deal)
Isaiah Trufant (ERFA tender)

Jeff Cumberland (non-tender)
Mike DeVito
Braylon Edwards
Dedrick Epps (non-tender)
Shonn Greene
Jason Hill
Lex Hilliard
Dustin Keller
LaRon Landry
Josh Mauga (non-tender)
Calvin Pace (cut)
Tanner Purdum
Chaz Schilens
Sione Po'uha (cut or restructure)
Bart Scott (cut)
Matt Slauson
Eric Smith (cut)

RE: Difficult Decisions ?

And just to put it out there I wouldn't mind bringing Braylon back at vets minimum for a year or signing DeVito to a cheap deal worthy of a rotational lineman but I don't see bringing them back as absolute necessities at all, and I think DeVito in the end will be too expensive while Braylon did get cut from Seattle which makes it hard for me to see him coming back under a GM from the team that cut him mid-season

RE: Difficult Decisions ?

At this point I'd rather cut Pouha and give his money to DeVito. In those games where Pouha was injured and Devito played some NT he looked pretty good. He could rotate with Ellis, anyone here think Pouha's back problems wont resurface for a nosetackle in the 3-4. He might be damaged goods, he injured it in preseason and was never fully healthy for the whole season.

RE: Difficult Decisions ?

I don't see any scenario that involves trading Sanchez working out....the cap hit is double the salary and precludes them from doing other things that the purpose of trading Sanchez is intended to do.......fixing the team. They have to ride out Sanchez. I seriously doubt Flynn can give them productivity that equates to the $17 million cap hit they absorb for trading Sanchez.

Still haven't heard a good reason why Seattle would want Sanchez over Flynn.

RE: Difficult Decisions ?

Yeah we're not trading Sanchez and certainly not for Flynn or Smith...just like people got all over McElroy like he was the second coming of Namath, fans just want what they don't have thinking he'll save the franchise but if a team is trading a guy who couldn't win their starting job he usually isn't worth trading for aside from the occasional exception...Flynn or Smith as FAs, sure why not...but definitely not giving up picks for them, I've had enough of wasting picks on trades for crappy backups *cough* TEBOW *cough*

Definitely low cost free agents, maybe a mid round rook if he can excel in the WCO, but no trades please
