I gave him a B, not that I don't like him I want to see how the offense progresses before I give him an A.

We literally cannot do worse than Sparano, so that automatically gives him a huge curve.

Re: Marty Mornhinweg Grade

He was my fifth choice out of the available candidates. i'd say B+/A-. He builds offenses to his qb's strengths and has had success in SF, Det, and Philly working with all different types of qbs. He brings a wealth of experience and success that can't be overlooked. Jackson, Norv, Hamilton, Lombardi, and Morningwig were my top choices, in that order, anyone else and I would have been disappointed. At least we got one of the top candidates, IMO. My ONLY reservation was that Reid didn't bring him with him to KC despite all of their success together (however, Reid stating he was going to be HC and calling all of the plays may have nullified any desire Marty had of going there). Can't wait to see who he and Idzik use at qb and what our offense looks like.

I went with a B plus. He was my third choice but certainly has a great background developing QB's and play calling which is the total opposite of Sparano. It will be interesting to see if he can or even wants to revive Sanchez's career. It will be interesting to see who we bring in to compete, I am not a fan of bringing in Vick. It didn't take long for Myers to rip the pick in the News today, what a jerk.

I gotta believe that his track record with QBs was the big selling point to Rex because of Sanchez.  If he can get him back to average, we will have made the right choice.  My concern with the MM/MS marriage is that a WCO demands accuracy from the QB, not exactly MS's strongpoint.

the wco and mm version of it may be a struggle to implement with Sanchez. MM calls a lot of screens within his wco. How many screens have you seen mark throw that were picked off by d-lineman? a lot, that's why i think we stopped calling those plays the last couple years. also, wco has a lot of short passes for catch and run opportunities. How often were sanchez passes batted down this year?

Im not sold sanchez will start the season as our starter.

I actually love this hire. Mornhinweg is a creative OC that is diametrically opposed to Sparano. However his West Coast style offense does require a qb that needs to think quick and be accurate.  Hopefully Sanchez or whoever is our starter next year is up to the task.  In the end in comes down to the ability of the players to execute.

However I think his creativety on offense will be a refreshing change for us.

It's a good hire take away the failed Detroit years and look at the mans overall body of work and it's pretty friggen impressive.. He's a West Coast Offense guy that will lead us out of that "Three yards and a cloud of dust" mentality.

He is a proven loser. Eagles had a good year or two? Sure. I could have coached team that loaded to good numbers. He failed miserably last year and wherever he was before that. Eagles are LOADED team.....their skill players are tops in NFL on any list.....we are at bottom of those lists and barely have any.....no reliable QB....no explosive players......Sure Eagles had injuries on O-line but even our healthy O-line is not that much better.....

Then you go out and get a West Coat Offense guy for a team where every pass completion is a miralcle?

Only success Jets had was with groung-n-pound....but they decided to change that without a single player in place and they are assing that task to a PROVEN LOSER.

What this indicates is what offense indicated last year......NO PLAN NO VISION.....

They needed someone....they got it....I am sure MW needs to make mortgage payments like rest of us so he took the job.....fact we are trying to fit a square peg in round hole is not important......

Jets' front office is luckiest front office in the world.

When fans are ready to delude themselves at drop of a hat.....then FO get away with anything.....

Like having no vision, no plan, just getting through another season.....and next year Rex will be let go.

Then what......oh I know hire SPARANO back and EVER SINGLE FAN HERE WOULD BE SAYING of ground-n-pound is back.....Rex held him back....here we go.....Super Bowl is hours.....

If you don't like him....well you are not a real fan.....you are bashing......whatever.

RE: Marty Mornhinweg Grade

How does this indicate we have no vision? Rex said he wants an attack style offense. we get a guy who runs that. Short passes, eats the clock off, keeps control of the ball.

Being so negative must not be good for you. Maybe you should become a Patriots fan. They always win a lot of regular season games, but it's been 8 years since they won the 'big one'. I'm sure you'll be happy though.

how is he a proven loser as an OC?  i posted this on the other thread, which of course you haven't responded to.

MM has been calling the plays for philly since the 2006 season. here is the team's ranking in total offense over that period.

2006 - 2nd
2007 - 6th
2008 - 9th
2009 - 11th
2010 - 2nd
2011 - 4th
2012 - 15th

that's an average ranking of 7th in total offense in the nfl.  so how is that the resume of a proven loser???

(i won't hold my breath waiting for a response...)

Everyone says that his offense had a horrible season this year and they were 15th. When was the last time we were as good as 15th? After last season I'll sign up for 15th right now. The nice thing is that is that is a bad year for MM.

In 2010, we did have the 11th rank offense in yards per game, but yeah, 15 sounds real good after the last two seasons.
