Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

Here are our 7 round picks, who do you pick:

9) Jarvis Jones OLB  (if gone) Damoster Moore OLB, Chance Warmack G, Dion Jordan OLB or Star Lotulelei NT.

39) Ziggy Ansah DE    If DeVito leaves, we don't have rotation @ DE. This guy is a freak !

72) Baccarri Rambo S   If Landry & Bell leave, we need the best safety on the board.

103) Marcus Lattimore RB   I'd take my chances with this stud.

134) Omoregie Uzzi G    Has potential as an NFL guard.

167) Michael Williams TE   Biggest, baddest, 6'6"/270 TE in the draft. Great blocker and tough to bring down.

198) Zeke Motta SS   Mean SOB here !

Go Jets...Cyborg

Re: Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

Unless there is a bonafide pass-rushing OLB at #9 I would trade back a few spots, pick up another #2 and select G Chance Womack. Rebuilding the offense starts with the OL IMO. We also need to grab a playmaker at RB. Gotta come out with an OL, RB, OLB and S with the first 4 picks (of course this will be determined by resigning or not resigning Landry, Slausen or Moore, Greene).

Here's my 7 round mock with the assumption we resign Landry. This is very premature since we haven't had the Combine and Pro Day results:

1. Barkevious Mingo OLB LSU-we need someone to get to the QB.
2. Barrett Jones G  Alabama-I think he will make a fantastic G which he was in 2009-10.
3. Andre Ellington  RB  Clemson-big play potential and good at picking up the blitzer.
4. Ryan Swope WR  Texas A+M-productive WR for Johnny Football.
5. Michael Williams  TE  Alabama-terrific run blocker. Can catch but blocking is his forte.
6. Tyrann Mathieu CB LSU-let's take a chance at this point with two CBs coming off IR.
7. LeAndrian Waddle T Texas Tech-we need depth and maybe he's an upgrade at RT.

Love it.  Ellington I like more than some, but not as much as Taylor, Franklin, or Ball...but I like him more than Phillip.  I like Mingo more than most too.  Yours is prolly more ralistic than mine.

Also, I ALMOST put Waddle as my 7th rd pick but I liked the idea of Hurst because he went against Mingo and Montgomery in practice every day, but I like Waddle too because he went against Okafor and Jeffcoat.

Re: Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

If we don't resign Landry (which is a possibility) then Lester in round 3 would be not only be a steal IMO but gets us a very good player. I would be happy with Moore and Cooper too. Both fill needs and could be the BPA at the time we pick. Dysert in round 4 could happen if we pull the trigger on a QB. Nice mock!

55, I really like your draft board. Not sure Moore will be there @ 9 ? If Moore & Jones are gone, what about completing our All-Pro DL ? The 3-4 starts in the middle, and Pouha @ 33 has a bad back, and Ellis can't stay on the field ? What about Star Lotulelei 6'3"/325 NT / DT falls in our laps ? That would complete our 3 man front. They Star plays like Suh or Nghata.noidea

RE: Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

DL is probably our unit of least need, so spending our first pick there will deliver the least bang for the buck over the next few years. Down the road it will be good but we have to decide that he was BPA at a position on need and I'm not sure Star is. I'm also not sure he's at the Ngata/Suh level.

I love this draft too.  I am a huge Warmack fan, not as high on Nassib as everyone else (but he looks like an AFC East QB, I'll give him that...but in a Kerry Collins/Drew Bledsoe way), Lemonioer for Auburn would be a good pick, but I'll be shocked if he falls out of rd 2.

For the record, I'd scream out loud if Rambo fell to rd 5 AND we drafted him there.  Great value and one or two safeties are gonna fall.  Rambo is the player I've seen the most but Elam is the guy I predeict falls.  I still hold out hope we resign Landry and that's why I had us taking Laster, who would compliment Landry perfectly.  Elam and Rambo would replace Landry, IMO, though Rambo has teh range to play either spot.  I really like this safety class and hope we land one.

Phillip Thomas is a name I'll be keeping an eye on as a sleeper safety pick this year too.

I like star and Phill loves Star.  I like Short from Purdue and Jenkins from GA is a natural 3-4 NT where I'm not sure Star is a 3-4 NT or a better fit for a 4-3.  I think if Star is sitting at #9, we should trade back with someone who falls in love with him.  I'd honestly be happy to move back a few spots, add a 2nd rd pick, and draft Short.  Short is 315lbs (Star is about 320lbs), Star had 9 TFL and 1.5 sacks...Short had 17.5TFL and 7 sacks.  I know we don't need our NT to get sacks, but Short demands a double team, works extremely hard, and is an effort player that produces.  Star's biggest knock is he takes plays off.  For Star to be in the Pac 12 and Short to be in the Big 10, and Short's #s to be so superior, I like him a little better.  Neither is Suh or Ngata, IMO.

The kid stands in teh pocket, takes a hit, and delivers a mean ball.  I can tell you that.  I worry him being a little like a young Bledsoe and Collings where they stand in the pocket and take some big hits.  He does pat the ball a couple times before throwing at times as he reads the defense, which scares me a little.  But the kid has the tools with the right QB coach...I just like Bray's tools a little better because he has tremendous confidence and is a classic gun slinger that slings the ball any and every where.  if someone could tinker with his brain, he has a crazy skill set that few rival...maybe Cutler.  The problem is no one knows if he's Jeff George/Jim Everett or Matt Shaub/Jay Cutler.

I like Phillip Thomas as well...unfortunately, I think we definitely need to draft a safety unless Allen/Bush starts across from Bell who will be cheaper to re-sign because Landry will want ~$7mil/year so unless we make some drastic changes to get cap room he will likely be somewhere else come 2013...I like Landry but he was the 65th rated safety in PFF I believe and I think we got lucky that he stayed healthy for all 16 games this season

Love this draft, all the picks (even the one I am about to argue with you about)...except, and Cy you do this crap to me all the time, but why with a team with so many damn holes would you draft a back-up DE with the #39 pick?  Sometimes I don't know about you.

No one will pay him $7 mill because of your last post, everyone is shocked he made it 16 games and what's the chances lightening strikes twice?  This is also a deep safety draft and free agent class.  Let him play in Jax for that money and 10 games a season...I think his price comes down to $4-5mill after he sees there's no suckers out there and maybe we resign him.  If he wants to play for Miami or Jax for $7 mill...see ya.

Watched film of Nassib, he is awful.  Misreads coverages, overthrows receivers - sounds familiar doesn't it.

Really like this group as well, but would substitute and OL like BJones at #39 or 55's guy Bray as QB.  I really think we need to draft a developmental guy like Bray/Nassib/Dysert this year.

RE: Jets 7 Round Mock Draft ?

Let me take a crack at this since I've been thinking about the Jets draft since November lol

9) Damontre Moore (OLB/DE, Texas A&M) - personally my favorite player in the draft would be OK w/ Warmack or another OLB if Moore is gone

39) Eric Reid (S, LSU) - if we get lucky enough for him to fall...I like Vaccaro also but he's probably a 1st rounder also like Eddie Lacy in this spot

72) Travis Kelce (TE, Cincinnati) - wouldn't mind giving Ertz or Eifert a look in the 2nd, or Dion Sims or Levine Toilolo in the 4th either

103) Alvin Bailey (OG, Arkansas) - also like Gabe Jackson @ OG if he's here at this point, wouldn't mind RB/WR/QB in this spot too

134) Christine Michael (RB, Texas A&M)

167) Marcus Davis (WR, Virginia Tech)

198) Dustin Hopkins (K, Florida St)

Personally, I know some people may disagree, but I'd love to see if we can get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Cromartie because we could definitely use a mid round QB or OT or take a RB/WR earlier than I did in my mock...would also like to see if we can ship out anyone else and maybe get another 6th or 7th...such as Tebow to the Rams maybe since they were interested last year, or maybe move Holmes or Sanchez somewhere for a 7th and eat a bit of the salary...

Don't get me wrong...I'd be super-psyched if we can get him back at a reasonable salary, I'd probably be completely fine giving him $5 mil per year...I just have a feeling someone will give him a contract like 4 years $28 mil and $16 mil guaranteed or something along those lines...haha it would be pretty funny if he went to Jacksonville b/c it would be LaRon & Dawan the Landry brothers playing next to eachother lol
