also - rumors that the bears may fire lovie smith, but nothing official yet 7-1 collapse is a tough pill to swallow. Also, in Charlotte everyone is saying Rivera will be fired since he was a lame duck coach any way and they hired a new GM mid season that will want his own guy. Everyone is saying they want an offensive minded HC to work with Cam (I could see Andy Reid landing here...but th elocals kind of want Gruden). Nothing official yet though. Hot rumor in Phili is Chip Kelly.

Go Jets...Cyborg He should be...I don't know if he will be though. Remember, they fought hard last year too and was in almost every game. The owner expected to be in the play-offs (or at least in the running) and was very pissed when they started so slow (hence, firing the GM, his long time personal friend). You could be right but I think th locals are restless.

Wonder why Rex's press conference for 4:45 today has been cancelled ? This was where he was going to announce Sparano not coming back ?
Go Jets...Cyborg

Re: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
Just my opinion. I think the presser happens when they are ready to announce all the firings as it pertains to coaches. It's going to be a hot topic so I can see Woody and Rex are going to wait til all are told. I gotta believe the firings will be pretty extensive so wait til you have all your ducks in a row.

Love to have him as our DC! They had a bad OL but at 7-1 and get beat out by Minny makes it tough to bring him back.

lovie has always been a 4-3 coach. not sure he's a fit for DC for rex 4-3 and Cover 2, right? Not a fit with our personnel either if it is cover 2. Cromartie's career was falling apart in SD when they changed defenses and he had to play zones.

RE: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
How about Lovie Smith as Our Defensive Co-ordinator and Norv Turner as our Offensive co-ordinator...

Norv Turner, Pat Shurmer, Chan Gailey, Ken Whisenhunt - Some good offensive coordinators right there

RE: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
Rex's Jets lost to Norv and Chan the last two weeks. We almost lost to Whisenhunt/Lindley in our own building if not for the QB change to McElroy. Lovie is a much better coach/person than Rex also. If those coaches are gone, it's not unreasonable for Rex to be gone as well. I hope the postponed presser that was scheduled for Rex today is a sign from Woody that he is having second thoughts.
Clean house, let new GM pick his coach, let the two of them work together to figure out the QB situation. Build through the draft and collect picks wherever possible.

RE: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
With all due respect, how do you know that "Lovie is a much better person than Rex"?
Lovie missed the playoffs with a lot better pieces in place than Rex has had these last 2 years (not an excuse, just stating a fact).

RE: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
The perception around the league is that Rex is way too confident and brash and causes many distractions for his team by praising his staff and players way too much and treating the fans/media like idiots with his postgame pressers after bad losses. Fair or not Rex's brother and father also don't help him either. I lost a lot of respect for Rex when he essentially dissed Norv before last year's Jets/Chargers game, saying he'd win titles if he coached there with that talent, and of course took on Belichick before his first game here. Every other teams' fanbase hates Rex for a reason, calling him a blowhard like Buddy. Rex is a very good defensive coordinator and his players like him. He can be funny when the team is winning. But the team has gotten worse under his watch and his pressers are actually sad now.

RE: Black Monday (NFL Coaches and GMs Fired)
Can't remember the last time there were so many quality coaches available. Whisenhunt runs a 34 and would be a nice fit, Andy Reid would be my first choice, but how could you say no to Lovie Smith who somehow manages to go the Superbowl every few years. The only problem with Lovie would be if he embraces our 34 defense, because changing to a 43 would be complete overhaul and would take several years.
