Did our OL quit on McElroy ?

Did our OL quit on McElroy ?

Conspiracy theory here, when it was announced that the Jets would start Greg McElroy QB over Mark Sanchez & Tim Tebow, did our OL roll over and play dead ?

11 sacks with some being vicious hits, it looked like a totally different line than I'm accustom to ? We 3 All-Pro OL in D-Brick, Mango & Moore and they all had terrible games as well as Austin Howard RT and Slauson & Ducasse rotating @ LG.

Being an Ex LT in H.S. and TE in College, I have seen the "hidden message" of let's get this QB or RB killed in the game, to make them look terrible.

Was the 11 sacks a message from our OL that they prefer Sanchez.noidea

Seems unrealistic. May be the best thing. Its clear that this team has way more problems than just QB. WR dont get open, poor pass protection, poor play calling, etc. Even though McElroy held the ball a little too long, 11 sacks and at least 5 hits is way too much. We need big changes!!!'

If that really happened (the OL made an unspoken agreement to let McElroy get killed) then the problems on this team are far-reaching and require major surgery. You can't replace the entire roster, but you can replace every coach. That may be necessary. The OL performance was absolutely disgraceful, and if that happened due to a dark conspiracy rather than just lack of motivation, then we have a very rotten situation. In either case, there's an argument for a new HC.

i doubt it.  with the exception of brick and mangold, everyone else on the line is playing for their job next year.  the unit played like crap, but i can't see them going into the tank at the risk of their own livelihood.

McElroy/WR's and play calling were to blame for that 11 sack performance and I'm sure the tape would prove it.

Re: Did our OL quit on McElroy ?

With the way mcelroy was getting sacked and hit, it would appear they did quit but I dought it. I think mcelroy was just being to careful with the ball, holding it to long and our wr's didn't help at all. The one thing I did like was mcelroy stood tuff in there and took the hits, didn't close his eyes and throw the ball to avoid hits and tried to escape when he could. He may not be our future but it was nice to see a real qb with heart play ball. We all know tebow has heart but isn't a real qb and sanchez is just a punk behind center.

Re: Did our OL quit on McElroy ?

McElroy looked oblivious to rush as in not even glancing at it and his movement in the pocket was pretty bad. That being said he didn't attempt to throw errant passes when he was pressured or sacked which is a sanchez trademark.

My take is he was in over his head and this should be a learning experience for him. He needs to learn to move shift in the pocket. when he actually had time he had slightly better accuracy in sanchez but the continuity and decision making are clearly not there yet (int into triple coverage).

He is one tough SOB though because he was taking brutal hits on his runs and sacks.. The officials let alot of those hits fly including the last one where he looked like he was picked up by the facemask or shoulder pads and flipped on his head almost.

Worse part was that was the 25th worst pass rushing team in the NFL.

how many of the sacks saw Vlad on the field? Howard is a mess at RT.......and I saw Vlad playing....but both in the lineup is idiotic.

Maybe it wasn't a conspiracy, but it sure as hell looked like the entire O-line rolled over...
