Who should replace Rex if fired?
I say if Rex were to be fired the guy I would want here is Bill O' Brien of Penn State. I know he has a huge buyout but so what he would be the perfect guy to fix this. Look what he stepped into at Penn State and the job he did there is nothing short of incredible. Plus his NFL experince under Bellichck doesn't hurt either It is time for Woody to go big or go home!

If he goes, I want Gruden.
*Will not mess with the defense. *Will immediately upgrade the QB position. *Satisifies the fanbase who want a real OC.

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
Tony Sparano, he did such a good job with the offense I think deserves another opportunity as HC. If not him then Bruce Coslet.

He had Brad Johnson in TB for superbowl run, then struggled mightily after Johnson left (or pushed by Gruden.) In Oak, he had Gannon who already had 10 yrs experience. I like Gruden's attitude but don't know if he's the best fit for bringing a young offense together. FWIW - I don't see Rex leaving unless they totally bomb the remaining games.

No HC has won 2 SB's with 2 different teams...add in our own long SB drought and it doesnt sound like a great fit. .

He runs the perfect offense to battle the Pats. A ball possession passing game that keeps Mrs. Brady off of the field. iangillan, noted on developing young qbs...if Sanchez stays, that's not really developing; it's more of a transformation...Gannon & Johnson were career "I guess we can start him" starters before Gruden.

RE: Who should replace Rex if fired?
Nobody. Replacing Rex would be a huge mistake. At a glance of our schedule should have had us at 10-6 or at the worst 9-7. Had Sanchez not been so terrible, we would have gotten in and sneaked into the playoffs.
We have a 9-10 win coach with a 2-3 win quarterback.

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
San Francisco 49ers' Greg Roman. What he's done with Luck, Smith, and Kaepernick is very (very) impressive. I can't think of another OC better at developing a QB, honestly. And he's as fiery and demanding of his players as Harbaugh. Seen it with my own eyes. We should see his name thrown out here for head coaching vacancies in the coming months.
Oh, and anyone that followed PSU's coaching search, closely, around this time last year would probably tell you like I will right now that if it weren't for Penn State's BOT wanting, badly, their winning candidate to be a graduate of an academic powerhouse, Roman, who had interviewed for the job, would probably be their head coach today.

Kelly would be my first choice, going the CF route.

I don't think Kelly or any other very top college coach would leave the security of their program for 3 or 4 years with the Jets.

Actually, if you look at the Jets history I think everytime they had given the HC to a former NFL HC the results have been very good. Weeb Parcells Kotite..err

I like Moore, but he is too old.... I like Billick.... but we need a developed QB with him. Cowher...he wont do it and I dnt think he was that great anyway.. Gruden..... i dont think so..... Tressel could be interesting though

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
I think you need to keep Rex, he is one of the best defensive minded coaches out there. You need to move Tanny to bean counting and make him figure out a way to bury Sanchez's salary cap. Hire Bill Polian as the next GM, and pick up Norv Turner as the offensive coordinator. If Rex was smart he would make Norv an offer when he sees him this Sunday! Move Sparano to OL Coach or cut him.

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
Make Norv the Associate Head Coach for Offense - like Gibbs had Petibone for defense once upon a time, I think.....
Keep Rex, but Norv develops the QB and runs the offense. Rex talks for the team - Norv hates talking anyhow
Polian to handle talent evaluation - Rex and Tanny out of that role - Tanny, handle the cap as instructed by Mr Polian.

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
Not that this goes under this post, but once you shore up the front office my first move would be to:
1. Trade Tebow for what ever you could get, probably a 4th from Jacksonville. 2. Trade Revis, hey you know what he is in his prime and with him out all year we still finished 2nd in passing defense! 3. Trade Revis to Redskins for Cousins and Kerrigan.
Let Sanchez, who you cant get rid of because of CAP issues fight with McElroy and Cousins for the starting job. You also now have (3) SOLID LB's - Davis, Harris & Kerrigan plus a new QB in Cousins. Also with the subtractions of Pace, Scott, Greene, Shilens, DeVito - the Jets will have money this year in Free Agency for a Veteran WR, OL....

Re: Who should replace Rex if fired?
I think Josh McDaniels is going to end up being a pretty good headcoach in his next stint. he is a young creative mind i would try to go after rather then the accomplished coaching dinosaurs.
I think he was given a bit of a short leash in denver due more so to the controversial GM decisions then anything else but the majority of his decisions possibly aside from the Tebow draft pick are solid players for the broncos Eric Decker,Demariyus Thomas, 2 starting OLinemen and 2 starting DLinemen in denver were drafted by him. He knows how to coach up an offense which is apparent in his tenure as patriots head coach.
Mcdaniels would also give you an advantage when you play the patriots, I know some people still have nightmares of Mangini when he was here but it would be a mistake to group him toghether with Mcdaniels who is a much better offensive mind then mangini ever hoped to be..
Oh yeah one possible setback to hiring mcdaniels would be he may decide to keep tebow around to develop and possibly start which would cause Pandemonium around here.lmao
