I'm done being pissed off, now it's time to plan our recovery!!!

I'm done being pissed off, now it's time to plan our recovery!!!

Here are the moves I make..

1. Make Sanchez inactive for the remainder of the season
2. Promote McElroy ! Sorry Tebow, time to grow up your not a QB
3. I like the idea of bringing in Parcells as an advisor to help Rex, if Peyton was a HC possibility I'd chase it vigorously
4. Fire cavanough!!!!!!
5. Fire sparano
6. Look hard at trading Revis- due to cap issues we need starters from the draft, two 1s could be a rebuilt OL
7. Let green walk
8. Let Keller walk, if his demands are high
9. Find a way to dump Sanchez as soon as possible!
10. Cut Bart
11. Cut pace

I agree with most of that, but I think Pace has played pretty well. Of all the problems we have, Pace would be pretty far down my list.

I'm not sure how rebuilt the OL needs to be. Not many teams have Pro Bowlers in their prime at the two biggest positions, LT and C. Some changes need to be made, but not a full "rebuild."

The pace cut is more for cap space, if he came back for vet minimum sure come on back..

Moore is getting old, Howard is not great.. We don't have cap space to sign many FA players.. Even if we take a top OL player in the draft, may be take a top RB.. Then look at WRs.. We need a lot of players on O, and have little cap space..

We are going to need cap space to either resign Landry, or sign another safety ..

  1. Cut Sanchez.
  2. Cut Tebow.
  3. Cut Holmes.
  4. Cut Pace.
  5. Cut Bart Scott.
  6. Demote Tanny to Cap Guru.
  7. Keep our D and O line intact.
  8. Upgrade our LB Core around Harris.
  9. Keep Revis.
  10. Fire Cavanough and our WR Coach.
  11. Seeing how terrible Sanchez has played over the past 4 years and being the #1 worst QB, Rex and the Defense need to be given medals for winning that many games.

Rex gets one more season to make the playoffs.

Get a new OC and QB coach.

Invest all draft picks on offensive players-especially WR, TE, RB

Demote Tannenbaum to cap guy and bring in a GM from another team with scouting experience

Trade Revis and anyone of value that isn't young and has hardly been here for draft picks

Cut/trade Sanchez and Tebow

Sign a Matt Mooore-tpe FA, draft QB in 3rd/4th round, and compete with McElroy

I agree with most, but it starts with taking any football responsibility away from Tannenbaum and bringing in a new GM. We need a solid football person to evaluate everything and then make changes.

I want Rex to be the head coach but with a solid offensive mind as assistant head coach. Sanchez is done in NY. I think he can be successful some place else, but I finally agree with the talking heads. He is mentally shot. No fire, no motivation. Even with his horrible play, we had a shot until the end of December. We don't need a Brady. . .we need a competent QB, good running game and top 5 D.

I like almost  all of this but we must keep Revis he is the best defensive player in football and there is no way we would ever get market value in return. The problem is the QB position and that situation is a disaster. The problem with bringing in and advisor for REX is twofold 1 He is already the smartest guy in pro football (just ask him) 2 Who would really want to work with this guy

By the way,
Is anyone else afraid that they won't do any of this?? I'm serious. Even with their pants pulled down on national TV three times this year, they have a habit of being in denial. Especially Rex.

My greatest fear is that they tweak a little but do not make any real change. Possible?

Bill Barnwell from Grantland has nailed it.  I like the Norv Turner idea...

1.) See you, Mark.
2.) See you, Timmy.
3.) See you, Sparano.
4.) Hire Cam Cameron, Norv, but favorabley, Dan Henning
5.) Re-sign BEast & Keller
6.) See you, Greene
7.) Promote #29 & #25 as full time backs.
8.) if cut for cap reasons, sign the guy in the link.
9.) DON'T LAUGH
10.) be honest & think back to '98 when Parcells got Vinny...when you read #8, didn't make you feel the same way. How did that work out.

Where would we be if we had Palmer's #'s at QB ?  We're not that far away. Those changes make us better than a lot of current PO Teams.

you know...that's not the worst idea (Palmer)

do we have an idea how much cap space there will be?

will it ultimately come down to Revis or Landry?  With having Cro, is Landry more valuable to hold and Revis to deal?

Re: I'm done being pissed off, now it's time to plan our

1. Hire the best GM candidate available-one with a proven track record of success. Let him select his own scouting and player personel staff.

2. Demote Tanny to capologist.

Hopefully the new GM is on board with these moves:

3. Hire new strength and conditioning coaches.

4. Hire Norv Turner to run the offense and let him hire his offensive staff.

5. Cut/Do not resign E. Smith, Pace, Thomas, Scott, Greene, Keller, J. Smith, Moore, Schilens.

6. Trade Tebow, Holmes (may have to restructure his contract first), Sanchez (easier said than done-maybe he stays a year with Norv), Revis (will want too much money and we can get a 1st in 2013 and a conditional 2014 pick that can go up to a 1st).

7. Resign Braylon, Landry and Slausen.

8. Have a successful draft and FA period.

Fire, fire, fire , fire.

These threads are funny.

w/o being in the meeting rooms these decisions cannot be made.

Sounds like rex was responsible for the Tebow 3rd series, where I think the game totally turned out of our favor.

To me the discussion should be about who is responsible, and I'm not so sure I know.

Drew-IMO it starts with Woody and goes down to the players. The whole Jet organization is to blame. The fans should do what occurred in the last home game of the 1996 season-stay home! I think there were less than 20,000 people in the stands that game and it sent a message. We got Parcells in the off-season.

For what it is worth, this is the unsolicited advice given by El Errian, co-founder of the world's biggest bond-fund with Bill Gross:

http://www.businessinsider.com...he-jets-2012-12

First, nurture what works well: The Jets’ defense is good and can get even better. It kept the team competitive despite huge failures elsewhere. And it did so despite big injuries. Everything must be done to maintain and reinforce its quality.

Second, exit a failed experiment: The attempt to run an offense with both Sanchez and Tebow has been a disaster. It confuses matters, making one plus one is a lot less than two.  It is time for the Jets to cut their losses.

Third, seriously revamp the coaching of the offense: The game plan for the offense has been awful.  There has been virtually no attempt to course correct. And, as one of the MNF commentators brilliantly put it last night, “every time you look at the Jets sidelines, it is as if they are trying to solve a complicated calculus problem.” It is time to replace some coaches on offense.

Fourth, do not wait: The temptation will be to limp along to the official end of the season and then take actions. That would be a mistake.  The shortfalls are clear; and they have been well documented for weeks. It is time for the Jets to move forward.

  • Okay, after a night to rest and digest this mess, I had a moment of clarity that I think offers perfect 20/20 hindsight. One person is to blame for this, and only one person. Woody Johnson. Situation: You have a GM who is a Capologist, an offensive coordinator who is a kid and has never groomed a new QB. You are going into a draft where you will be selecting and grooming the face of your franchise for the next 4-10 years, and you choose, a defensive coordinator with ZERO experience as a head coach on the college or professional level, and ZERO experience on the offensive side of the ball. Add the pieces together and you have where we are today, a building full of people who have NO idea how to draft, develop, protect, or groom a franchise quarterback. Sorry Woody, luck and hope wasn't the right approach here. If you loved Rex and believed he was your guy, then you get the best free agent QB available and give him the first round pick for his next defensive star. OR, you higher the best offensive minded head coach available, who has actually had experience developing a young QB, and you let them draft the player they want. I love Rex, but he knows as much about developing a franchise quarterback as I do about fixing a helicopter engine.
Now with all that said I suggest three things. 1. Demote Tanny to assistant GM or President of business affairs, or whatever. Get a FOOTBALL guy in for all FOOTBALL decisions. That guy gets to decide Rex's fate after one more season. 2. Get the bes t offensive coordinator available. One who DOES have experience grooming a QB. I like Tom Moore or even Norm Turner. Introduce him to Greg McElroy and get the hell out of the way. 3. Trade Sanchez and Tebow for as much as you can get for them and draft as many O-lineman and Linebackers as you possibly can, and grab a promising RB or two late in the draft. Good night New York.

But is a new GM going to want his own coach to start fresh?
