Can we please sign Braylon Edwards (12/11 - Edwards a Jet)

Can we please sign Braylon Edwards (12/11 - Edwards a Jet)

I don't care what he said about mngmt. He is just pissed that he is not a Jet. Say what you want the guy loved it here and played hard. He got released by Seahawks ? Correct ? We lost Hill today and our Wr core is the worst. What could it hurt???

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

I agree 100%.  He would probably been a probowler if we would of kepted him which means Sanchez would of been playing alot better.  Naw, maybe thats to far fetched but he would be a drastic improvment from what we currently have.  Hill's injury looked pretty bad, is he gone for the rest of the year?

This move would cost the Jets nothing. I don't understand the hatred towards Edwards. He always showed up to practice with Sanchez in the offseason and had chemistry with him. Still perplexing to me

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

I don't think there is any hatred.

He simply priced himself out of the Jets plans.  They wanted to go with Holmes (questionable)

Mind you... Braylon hasn't done squat since he left, so it's really hard to question that decision in hindsight.  I think the kid is pretty banged up at this point and his health is holding him back.

If we had signed Braylon instead of Holmes and we'd be no better off.  People would be calling for Edwards head because he was hurt all the time.  noidea

I agree.  He's hurt, slower, and too heavy, IMO.  He doesn't get the separation he used to and we're fortunate to not have gave him the big contract he asked for.  Jets did a good job of understanding his value and making him an offer = to his market value.

If he's healthy, I'd give him a shot for the remainder of the season.

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

According to NFL.com; the Jets tried to trade for Braylon as soon as Holmes went down for the season.  The report states that the asking price was too steep.  I guess Seattle looks dumbfounded for not accepting anything since they let him go.
Though, at this point with the season and playoff hopes on the line, it would be prudent to swallow as much pride as Tanny possibly has and make Edwards an offer.  If Hill is out for an extensive amount of time, why sign an unknown from the streets?
Braylon must sign with the Jets by Wednesday.  IMHO, it would give Sanchez a player he is completely comfortable with.

Come to think of it-when the Jets 1st acquired Braylon he made his debut on a Monday night vs Miami.  It would, if signed, be his 2nd debut on MNF this time around as well.  Hopefully we get a win.

+1 Agree on both counts.

Right now, he's the best available option by a long shot. This phone call should have already been made......

Besides the song, this video is Braylons highlight reel with the Jets.  Mark Sanchez looks like a completely different individual when he has some sort of trust & repor with his WR.  Gotta sign im off the streets now:

Was that Sanchez throwing the ball !!!!!

Braylon probably has a serious chip on his shoulder after just being cut by the Seafish. With Hill going down, this signing should be a no brainer, which means Tanny will re-sign Jason Hill or Patrick Turner.eek1

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

braylon edwards gets a lot of love on this board for a guy who has done pretty much nothing and been cut by playoff-contending teams two straight years.

that said, if hill is indeed done for the year, i wouldn't have a problem signing him for the rest of the year since there is already a comfort level between he and mark.  but i'd also want to get some looks at jordan white and maybe some of the other young guys.

+1

Although, it doesn't say much for White and the others when we keep bringing in guys like Jason Hill and Gilyard instead of elevating them to the active roster.

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

I'm shocked you say Braylon did nothing? He had some of the biggest catches when it mattered most. I feel quite frankly it's the opposite,,, a lack of love on this board.... Not saying he is elite but he is beter than the crap we have now. Everyone bought into Tone-Time. Forget the money issue now,,, obviously that was mishandled by him, his agent, and Tanny.

i said he has done pretty much nothing the last 2 years with SF and Sea, both of which are contending, playoff-caliber teams that cut him towards the end of the year.  last year he played in 9 games and had 15 catches for 181 yards and 0 TDs.  this year he played in 10 games and had 8 catches for 74 yards a 1 TD.

I want the Jets to sign Braylon, just so I don't have to deal with any more threads about how the Jets should sign Braylon.

Note that in his last 4 games he was active and didn't even get a pass attempt thrown his way...that's not a good sign with Russell Wilson scrambling around and Edwards couldn't get open enough to even get a ball thrown his way.

Also, Rice suffered a concussion and they still cut Edwards.  Another bad sign.

I should think they'll at least work him out this week.

Re: Can we please sign Braylon Edwards

Don't get me wrong...

I have no issue with the Jets bringing on Braylon under the current situation.
I just for the life of me can't understand all the hand wringing over the fact we didn't sign him a couple of seasons back.

I would get it if he had gone out and killed it elsewhere... but he's been injured or ineffective his entire time away.

Not signing Edwards to the big contract he wanted is probably the smartest move Tanny has made in the past few years!!
