Re: Game Thread: Jets vs Tennessee

prediction, we're 7-7 and Gruden proclaims the New York Football Jets back in the play-off hunt lead by their defense and rushing attack after the game.  Back to Rex Ryan football - ground and pound and a top level defense.

Re: Game Thread: Jets vs Tennessee

I hope the Jets take the Titan's seriously, because they can beat any team in the NFL if they play without turnovers. Plus the game is always a sell out in Nashville.

One more victory and we're back to .500 @ 7-7. With the Flipper's, Bills, Steelers, & Bengals all losing yesterday, the Jets are back in the hunt.

Go Jets...Cyborg

Jets sign Vince Young and he is active as the backup QB. Makes hometown fans happy and Sanchez won't have to fear McElroy coming in!!!! What??? In Rex's fantasy world it worked yesterday!

I don't care if we win ugly, I just want a win.

If ground and pound works, while stay away from ground and pound? It eats up clock and it wears down defenses.

Truthfully I don't even care if we win. Our coach is clueless. Sanchez sucked yesterday and I don't expect that to change either .

Lets just hope that the "D" can sustain it's level of play in this next game. If it slips even a little and lets up a few points, that means that Sanchez will have to throw the ball. We all know what happens when Sanchez throws the ball more.

MJG, Come on now, you promised me that you would be more positive about the Jets ? You do care if we win, you know Rex is better than Mangini or Herm, and you know if Sanchez rang your door bell, you would date him in a NY second ! LOL

Go Jets....Cyborg

Cy, all Rex cares about is his defense. At the end of the year he will brag that we finished decently after losing both of our best players. It's a joke, the guy is going down with the Sanchez ship.

I'm scared now that the QB postion has become a political tool.....and as such McElroy won't be allowed to be an option. Rex gave one hell of a lame excuse Sunday......he stammered and you could see it on his face he couldn't shovel fast enough. He ultimately gave up and said (Paraphrasing)...'I give up Rich (Cmini)...what do you want me to say'

And therein lies the problem...he doesn't have answers for the whole team just the D.  For me his slection of Tim over Mac was unconscionable and as you stated stammered or like last week when asked about QB stood there dumb founded for what seem like forever... well he is our HC  and it seems that sanchez is our QB, sigh.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a switch made for McElroy happens in the Chargers game. Especially if Sanchez doesn't light up a pretty bad Tennessee D.

I don't know why; but I just have the feeling that McElroy will start for the Buffalo game and be insanely successful, including into the postseason.

I would highly doubt it. Rex has set the precedent. Sanchez can play horribly, and not get benched. McElroy can play well, and won't even dress for the next game.

RE: Game Thread: Jets vs Tennessee

McElroy will get the start vs the Chargers only if Sanchez stinks it up against the Titans next Monday. If he plays poorly and we lose that game there is no way that he could see the field with the hostile home crowd calling for his head. The season would be essentially over at that point, and putting Sanchez out on the field at home would be a PR nightmare for Woody.

Re: Game Thread: Jets vs Tennessee

Well, last week we ran 20 pass plays (19 attempts and 1 sack) and ran 42 run plays.  Not too many teams deploy such a strategy in today's NFL but with our QB situation, we have no choice.  If we can find a way to stay with this strategy, and I am 100% sure that's the game plan, then I think Sanchez finishes the year as starter unless he completely implodes despite barely ever throwing the ball.  I just think the Jets have decided to throw it only when we absolutely need to...and only 50% of the time then.

Then why is he in? You're telling me Mcelroy or Tebow is that much worse. THis is why I'm getting real sick of Rex.

There's ground and pound which compliments the playaction, and then there's being forced to run the ball.  I think Sanchez can do it but he's just mentally out of it right now.

I predict that Sanchez manages to fumble only once this game.  However there will be at least three drops by receivers.

I would add that Mac can hand off just as well as Sanchez...maybe better...eek
