Would you trade Michael Vick for Sanchez? (Vick to the Jets?)

Would you trade Michael Vick for Sanchez? (Vick to the Jets?)

Rumor mill is that Vick is asking for a trade.  Let's have some fun and debate the Sanchez for Vick swap.  I believe Vick's cap number is less onerous than Sanchez's. Both have troubles that are well documented.  Would you make this trade?

no.  vick will be 33 before next year.  no reason to believe he will ever be able to lead a team to a title at this point of his career.

while obviously the same questions apply to sanchez, i'd rather start fresh if/when we move on from sanchez.

I thought Vick was a free agent after this year.  I hear no way is he back in Philly next year...... especially if reid is gone.   but to answer the question... Yeah, I would take Vick over Sanchez in a heartbeat....   Trade Sanchez to the Chiefs or Jags for a 4th..... and sign Vick.  This years draft class of QB's isnt that great (if we are even in a position to draft one)
Barkley, Smith (who has come down a bit), the kid from K state.  Outside of them, I cant think of a QB worth picking.....

I don't think Reid would want the trade. Vick's performance will get Reid fired at the end of the season. Sanchez's performance would get Reid fired after his first game.

Actually, a better trade might be trading Rex for Andy Reid just because he's fat. The Jets have always done well with fat head coaches. When Mangini was fat in 2006 we had a pretty good team. After he lost the weight, he got dumber and dumber until he got canned. Looks like the same thing with Rex. Fat Rex got us to 2 AFC championship games. Now that he's lot the weight he is clueless. Coincidence? I think not. Bring on the next overweight HC.

Re: Would you trade Michael Vick for Sanchez, straight up?

Eagles lost their long time DC and their D used to be their trade mark is now a liability.

In addition to what else I believe is hosing Vick is his O-line. When he came back to NFL, their O-line was ok and Maclin and Jackson terrorized the secondaries with big plays. Even then they didn't move the ball effectively but always got the big plays.

Now they simply don't have time to go deep and move the ball in small chunks. Vick has stopped being Vick, as he is trying way too hard to be a pocket passer, and also to not get hit. Way too much going on in his HEAD......

....and that is the reason I would not trade for him.

You can come back from injuries.....but once the gray matter located insider your head turns to goo......you are not going to recover.

LOL, Have you seen Vick play, I mean actually watched him, you want to talk about a player that looks like the game left him 40 years ago.

You think Mark Sanchez gives the easy pick, watch Vick, he makes Mark look like Montana!

Anyone that would want vick is saying so on name only, Stick a fork in him!

I think we should play Sanchez full throttle the rest of the way..we need to fully have evidence one way or another if he is definitely not the answer..we have a fairly manageable schedule (especially from the offense vs opposing defense standpoint)  from here on out....let him do it all..give him enough rope to either hang himself or prove his worth....then we can see if he is something to work with  or go back to the drawing board.....

+1 on playing Mark Sanchez the rest of the year.

-1 that we have an easy schedule.  We face 3 top defenses (Seattle, Arizona, and Rams - Rams just dropped out of top 10 after what the Pats did to them in London, but their still #13) as well as the Patriots (easy defense, agreed there) and a pissed off Bills team.  Wouldn't be shocked if we lose all 5 of these games and beat the Titans and Jags (2 easy games).  Not saying we can't beat some of the first 5 teams, just wouldn't be shocked if we lost to them.

Vick is what he is............but I don't think Sanchez has reached the pinnacle of his growth yet. That's not to say he will be good/great at all....but considering he barely played at USC....and has had no credible development around him, I'd say he is still a work in progress. The bugger question is can the Jets speed it up and/or wait for it. Look how long Alex Smith took before he became useful. Might be another situation like that.

I agree with you Seav...and for the record, I do not make the trade.  Vick is clearly on the downside, while Sanchez may (or may not) have upside.  It's just if the Jets can wait for him to develop, or if circumstances force them to pull the plug.

Next 8 games for Sanchez will probably make or break his NFL career.  Let's see how he responds...

I wouldn't do it, but it would work out well for Vick. The Eagles OL is unbelievalbly horrible. He would have time to run and throw behind the Jets line.

While I agree the Eagles o-line is horrible, and it is, a lot of his sacks are his own fault for trying to make things happen when it's not there.

While I give Sanchez a harder time THAN ANYONE, he has never worked with a QB guru...ever.  IMO, the two best QB coaches in the NFL are Andy Ried and Mike Shanahan (John Gruden if he was in the NFL is also fantastic with QBs).

if Vick can't be successful with Andy Ried...he isn't going to be successful.  If Sanchez worked with Ried for 3 years and looked this bad he'd be out of the NFL by now because Ried and the rest of the league would know he hasn't got it.  Sanchez will get more time in the NFL as other teams try to do what Cavanough couldn't.

Sanchez can read defenses and works hard.  He also has great footwork and fantastic hands for play action and bootlegs.  His problem is accuracy and confidence.  After he leaves the Jets a QB guru like Payton, Ried, Shannahan, Kubiak, etc will try to work out the kinks with Sanchez.  I don't know who will take a risk on Vick outside of having him push a rookie (say KC or Jax) or serve as a back up (say Detroit or Rams as an example).

I'd take Vick over Tebow in 2 seconds.
