Seems like a good cut. I am still not convinced that TC and staff are going to mail it in on the PK position and just hand it to Brown because he's a veteran. TC loves his field position and McManus has a leg.

I agree about McManus.  It would not surprise me if they decided to keep both of them.

The 3 I'm not sure about:

I can see Brewer making it in over Reynolds. Brewer looked really good in the HOF game at LT. He offers more versatility because he can play both guard spots and both tackle spots.

I can see Kellen Davis making it in over Adrien Robinson.

I can see Marcus Harris making it in over Manningham/

Awful early to predict a 53 man roster, theres a lot of football to be played.

EliMc, your position numbers look just about right. Barring a surprise it should shake out something like that. Glad you added that 9th OL.

If Harris keeps pulling in catches like he has in practice and continues to be targeted during the pre season games, it'll be hard to not see him make the roster. I for one am pulling for the kid!

I think " Soup" Harris makes it instead of Manningham.

It is reasonable that the Giants might go with 7 WR and keep 2 TE.

Re: Final 53 roster much easier to project now

Will the Giants keep Painter over Nassib after the second preseason game?  Painter led the team to a game winning TD, whereas Nassib looks lost as usual.

They could keep 3 QBs, but you know they want to keep two.  If Nassib doesn't show something soon, he could be cut.

Cutting Nassib would be a bitter pill to swallow for a front office that acted like they were so smart to move up in the draft and select him.  The Giants front office had a special meeting on draft day to discuss trading up for Nassib--how dumb does that look now?  The draft record of this front office is becoming a concern....

Another thing to note: do the Giants truly have a starting TE on their roster?  So far the TEs look awful.  They need to trade for a starter.  They really needed to draft a TE--a missed opportunity that may cost them a 2015 draft pick (assuming they make a trade).

I was having a similar thought last night Sage about Nassib.    He's really not looking all that good.   He's not looking as lost as he was last year......but he's certainly not exactly lighting it up.    I'm with you in thinking that is beginning to look like a significant error on the GMs part at this time.    I thought it was slightly foolish since I thought we had holes on the OL to fill and frankly other front's of our overall roster.   At some point the Giants do need to have Eli replacement thoughts.......but usually late round QBs aren't the guys that step up.       There's always a Romo or Brady that can be the exception......but they tend to be the exception.

Painter was playing against the second and third stringers......but he was looking pretty solid in the pocket.    I could see the Giants keeping Nassib around for another season on the practice squad.....but I frankly don't see Nassib as much more than a backup at this time.    I have a hard time seeing any particular skill he has that makes me feel like he's our next starting QB.......unfortunately.

I have this personal dream that we will only keep 2 of the TEs and keep both Hynoski and John Connor on the roster.   Maybe turn Hynoski into a wannabe TE.    Have him almost behave like Pasoce.....who I think you underrated.    I frankly believe we have to very high level FBs on this roster.

To be fair..........there are very few teams with top notch TEs.   I have never looked for the Giants to get the next Jimmy Graham.   They don't grow on trees.    But not locating a typical TE is kind of confusing.   I still kind of like Donnell out of all our TEs.

We shall see how this shakes out Sage.    Conversely, you have to like what you see regarding the overall WR depth.   And the RB depth seems ok.   Hillis needs to get healthy.    Gaskins looked ok last night.    Cox kind of looked meh.

Haven't felt this good about the secondary in years.

Re: Final 53 roster much easier to project now

I see Harris in at WR over Manningham. veteran or not, Manningham himself confirmed he had issues with the knee. Never thought he'd make the 53 man roster when he re-signed with the Giants.

I want Kelsey Quarles to make the DT rotation over Kuhn, but he went down with the ankle injury, so maybe he gets IR'ed for the season as a way to keep him?

I say the Giants have to go with McManus at the kicker spot. If they let him go over Brown then the Giants might not have a chance to sign him in the future. The kid knows what its like to kick in the Northeast as he did so during college and has a very powerful leg. If you have a gem of a player, you keep him around and I think McManus is a gem of a kicker.

Well......per a Newark star Ledger report this AM......it looks like Nassib is on the hot seat for the time being to make the 53 man roster.    Honestly.......I have not seen much that makes me want to seriously invest in the guy.    He looks much better compared to last season.......but he is still fairly raw.    Frankly, Mr. Painter looked much more composed.      I'm sure we'll see plenty more of Nassib as the preseason wears on.......but I would not be shocked if Nassib found himself off of the 53 man roster.

I would be.  Nothing more than my opinion, but I would be completely shocked if he gets cut.

I think the most likely (and unfortunate) outcome is the Giants keep 3 QB's again.

I think it will be Harris over Manningham and Gaskins over Cox...like the fact that you chose Berhe to stay...he may be a future starter...Kellen Davis may bump Robinson. It also might be Painter as backup and Nassib to the PS for this year.

I don't know if Nassib is even eligible for the PS, but it is unlikely that he would survive there.  Last night's comeback will certainly be in his favor.

Sounds like Cooper Taylor may be headed to IR. Disappointing. And it probably means they only keep four safeties with one on the practice squad.
