Re: Trindon Holliday,

Maybe there's a reason the Giants signed this guy....

Re: Trindon Holliday,

He has exceptional speed and an excellent sense of where to run/cut in the open field.  It is very difficult to get a solid hit on him.  However, when he is hit hard, he does have a tendency to fumble.  This shows up as a punt returner.  As a kick returner, he has only 1 fumble in 49 returns.  As a punt returner, he has 10 fumble in 80 returns.  He only has 2 receptions in his 4 year career.

The Giants signed him because he has a career average of 27.1 yards as a kick returner.  In 2012, he averaged 32.5 yards per kick return.  He averages 9.4 yards as a punt returner.  I am thinking the Giants would love to use him as a kick and punt returner if they can reduce his tendency to fumble as a punt returner.  I am also thinking that they would love to use him in certain situations as a receiver.  There are very few CBs and probably no safeties that can stay with him.

Re: Trindon Holliday,

All indications are that the Giants will use him as a receiver. I'd have to think that he'd make a very dangerous slot receiver and that he'd be great on end arounds or screen passes, but the Giants are so deep at slot receiver that I don't know how he's going to see the field. That's for the Giants to worry about though. If he fumbles kicks in the preseason then he probably won't make the team.

Re: Trindon Holliday,

ok..
1-why did denver let him go.
2-as returner terrific, until and if he fumbles then TC will never use him again back there. so we will see.
3-as a reciever, really at 5'5"...will eli find him...was he used in denver as a reciever at all ?

Re: Trindon Holliday,

Holliday has real issues with fumbling, especially on punts. That is why I don't see his value to this team unless they use him at wide receiver. So we'll see how he plays this summer, that will determine if he makes the team or not. The Giants can't afford to turn the ball over on punt or kick returns. They're not a juggernaut.

Re: Trindon Holliday,

Kick offs are not the issue in terms of fumbling.  Punt returns definitely is the issue.  He only has two receptions in his career.  How he would do as a receiver remains to be seen.  I am thinking that he would be used in a 4 or 5 receiver formation.

Re: Trindon Holliday,

I personally don't see Holliday as an offensive contributor at WR.    I have viewed him as more of a ST contributor.    I would not be surprised if he failed to make the final cut.

I can't remember the last time the Giants had so many KR/PR guys on one team.    We won't have to worry about that position this year.    We have plenty that can handle the role.

Look at it this way, whenever we tried to run a screen last year, Eli would throw at the receiver's feet.  With Holliday those passes will hit him in the numbers!
