The Strangest Division

The Strangest Division

There might be stronger divisions, but you can make a case for any of these teams finishing first OR last and I think that's unique.
. Redskins...biggest unknown and most likely last, but wonderful skill players on the O. Maybe the best two wr's, plus Morris. Superb olt in Williams. I think RGIII might be ordinary if they restrain his running, hurt if they don't. But suppose he is the guy they rated as good as Luck. I remember two years ago when this crew closed out winning their last 8. Still, they are the biggest question marks.
. I'm interested in how you guys see the division.

Re: The Strangest Division

I think the Eagles still have to be your favorites even with the loss of DJAX and their OLT suspended 4 games. I guess the question is can their QB have another year like that? Hard to believe someone will have two years in a row like that but we can't say he won't either. Then of course does the rest of the East have a better idea how to defend Kelly's offense.

If I was a redskin fan I would feel pretty good. RGIII is a year removed from surgery and Orakapo (sp?) is back to provide some pass rush. Great receiver combo like you mentioned and a dual threat QB and Morris to pound the ball, plus a new play book that no one has seen yet.

Our boys probably have the most questions, new OC, almost half the roster turned over and multiple new starters on both sides of the ball. Eli coming off his worse year and our OLT hasn't even seen the field yet. I would like to feel good about the D but we have a potential huge hole at MLB to start the season. I'm optimistic but for us it's wait and see.

No idea what the cowboys can be they're always hurt. They have a top QB and arguable the 2nd best WR in the league. Their defense has to be better this year since it can't get much worse.

In other words this race is wide open with no real front runner. Everyone has a shot.

Cowboys lose:Lee,Hatcher, and Ware, three of their best players and expect to get better, and I think that's possible. They were playing organ grinders along the defensive front at the end of last year and still competed. They are talking about the emergence the corner they invested so heavily in and he and Carr could be shut-down and something you build around.
. I think they have the lowest potential. I think the D will be better but not big time. I think Romo, like other scramblers, makes something out of nothing, but nothing out of something and doesn't have the arm strength to beat the better d's.
. But it's impossible to make sense of it and the point is you could build a solid case for anyone of the teams finishing first or last.

Thinking about it a bit more the cowboys may have the best o line in the east and if Murray can stay healthy and romo with play action they could be a very dangerous offense. Not sure if ware was below average two years ago but I watched several cowboy games last year and the DE spot didnt seem to fit him. Oddly if I remember right he looked like a monster against us there.

It truly is anyones division, i feel us and the cowboys have the most questions to answer unless youre in the camp that believes RGIII isn't going to bounce back.

Yeah.....I think the Eagles still have the deepest team.    It will be interesting to see if the offense takes a step back with nobody having to worry about D Jax.   However, Sproles on that team gives them a different look that will make their offense dangerous, still.    Their D isn't bad.   Their secondary is still in tough shape.....but their front 7 is pretty solid.

I feel like the Redskins could take a step forward under Gruden.   It's difficult to evaluate what Bob Griffin will be like this season.    One would have to figure that D Jax and Garcon will be a lot to handle.   And they'll def pass quite a bit.    We'll see how that works out.    Their D seems like a similar group.....although maybe they won't be as wreckless as they were.

I really feel like the Cowboys could be in for a long year.   It depends upon how Romo recovered from his back issue.   Still......their defense feels very underwhelming.

Then there is us........we basically have an entirely new offense with a lot of new players being integrated.   Eli remains in place and so do some of the WRs Eli is familiar with.   Everyone else is different.   But i'm optomistic.   I think Eli will have a chance to thrive.   As long as Beason can return.....I feel like our D can at least be as productive as it was last year.   It's not dangerous.....but it's not bad, either.

The NFC West will be a handful for the entire division.

Griffin's passing ability is certainly beyond ordinary, folks need to stop thinking that because a QB is a good athlete he can not pass, when he came into the league he was a great passer , problem was that the SKINS ONLY HAD ONE GOOD RECEIVER. I would take him in a New York minute if I was an owner.coolcoolcool

I think the Giants are the most balanced team in the division.  All offenses have the capability of being very good, in different ways of course.  But the Eagles, Redskins and Cowboys defenses aren't as good as ours is as it stands now.  That could change once the season starts.  But that's how I see it.

I don't know 5th. I never saw a quick release, I saw good made better by the legs. And its tough for athletic guys like that, so easy to abandon the pocket that nano second too soon. The less gifted guy hangs in because he has no alternative. I also think you could be right, but is he really that special without the running - those are real questions ,not rhetorical questions posing as answers. I have no idea what Wash. has.

Re: The Strangest Division

While I acknowledge the wonderful athleticism that Griffin and several other QBs in the league have, I will take an in pocket QB who has a really good sense of taking a few steps to avoid the rush over a QB that is bound to get hurt during the season when he takes off running one too many times.  I think the ideal QB is a guy that is a true scambler with a strong arm that allows him to be effective throwing across his body when he has to.

Boone was better for one game than Vick. I also believe this kid might prove to be the exception - or implode psychologically and physically. No idea, not a hint. Coach just as unproven. Morris, Williams, great wr's, Colefield and Bryan O. Ahh but the loss of top picks????
My prediction? Bad to good to very good or somewhere in between.
