O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
If they could find cap room to sign Smith from the 49ers I think the Jets would/should give up this years #1 and next years #2' I think the Jets as bad as they look could easily win another 4 games or more with Smith as the QB. He can be very accurate and his game is the short yardage passes and the jets don't really have big time receivers down field. I could see them going 10-6 or a 11-5 with Smith they were 8-8 in 2011 and it's hard to think that Smith wouldn't have been worth at least 3 wins in that season. 2012 with the Tebow addition they were in complete disarray, and the OF coach was a disaster. I hope they don't have a chance to do it but Smith is better than anyone they can draft and they'd have to give up high draft choices to get him but too me he'd be worth it. I'm hoping none of this comes to pass but I can't imagine the Jets aren't thinking about the chances of getting Smith.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
I did not follow A smith career very closely but lets not make him the return of Payton Manning who resurrected a whole franchise .
He is a solid QB , but that sad sorry of a team needs a whole lot more than a good QB to get over the hump.
Sanchez was a good QB until they screwed with his head like they do to most of their players who usually flourish once they move on to other teams ala K. Johnson , J. Vilma , D. Woodhead , J. Abraham ..... and the list goes on !
The best solution for the J.e.t.s. is to move to LA and hang around with that city's other 2nd class team , the Clippers . .

No one is going to have to give up any picks for Smith as he's guaranteed to be released by the Niners due to his big salary. The can't pay two QB's #1 $$$$$ and the picked Kaepernick.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
Smith is due a 6.5 roster bonus.....April 1st I believe. I don't even think the Jets are dumb enough to fork over valuable picks for that financial obligation. Unless Smith agrees to modify that to a 6.5 salary over the next 2 years, he should not even be considered. If that was the case, no higher than a 3rd rounder

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
sanchez has a ton of turnovers over the past two years because he is a terrible decision maker plain and simple, it has nothing to do with confidence, the jets gave him an $8.5 extension. the two good years he had he benefited from a pretty good defense and some good offensive weapons. he did enough things right, and didnt turn the ball over, much like trent dilfer. now, once he gets pressured in the pocket he gets skiddish, very siddish, something which is not correctable.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
If I were the Niners.....I would try and trade Smith plus one of their CBs and maybe a pick in exchange for Revis. That would elevate the Niners to the next level......don't know if the Jets would consider something like that. I think Smith would make a lot of sense competing for a job with Sanchez.
Jets are pretty screwed cap-wise this upcoming season. They are just going to have to grin and bear what they've sowed.

Jets got a lot of things they need to fix before people will again take 'em seriously, but, damn, take a chill pill. They're not in the NFC or got some winning streak going on over the G-men, believe it or not. You might hate 'em with a passion, but most NYers want to see 'em do well, at least the ones who were born and raised and are currently living there, like myself. 2. "Sanchez was good QB until they screwed with his head"? You don't know what you're talking about. You can't coach smarts and that's why he's in the position he's in. The guy's a moron that needs above-average to elite players to be average. Stop acting like they were on a mission to ruin him or something and succeeded.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
Jets shouldn't trade for Smith. He was Sanchez before Harbaugh. Want proof? Take a look at his pre-2011 resume. Failed under multiple OCs and showed little to zero improvement as the years went by. Unless he comes with Greg Roman, 49ers OC, in a trade, every team should stay away from him, especially the Jets.

Hate is a strong word my friend , I don't hate the Jets , I reserve that for the Cowclowns , I pity the Jets and their big mouth chest pumping fans when they string 2 wins in a row .
I live among them , surrounded by them and have to put up with their ignorance and you tell me how you don't consider adding Tebow to the roster was not screwing with Sanchez head , mind you that he was hailed as the next Namath in his first 2, 3 years .
Remember Favre as a Jet ? They will do anything to get attention !
As far as I am concerned , the Jets were , are and always will be 2nd class citizens to the GIANTS in New York . Capish ?

You got me there. Still, it'd be nice to see 'em a contender again. They and the Giants better get this **** together, because the next SB will be played @Met Life stadium and it'd suck if neither owner is in the building that day.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
the Jets seem to be hopeless. They could have gotten Peyton Manning and still have a losing season. It is the essence of the team to self-destruct.. think about it...since the '69 SB it has been naught but a stinging series of disappointments.

Re: O/T I wonder if Jets will give up draft choices for Smith
The Chiefs are a possible landing spot for Alex Smith. With that said, I think the Chiefs are trying to figure out if they want QB Geno Smith with the first pick. Obviously, if the Chiefs draft Geno Smith, Alex Smith goes somewhere else. The Cardinals? The Jags? The Bills? I doubt he ends up with the Jets.
