So now we have zero starting LB's. I don't count Kiwi as a LB, he is horrible.

Williams will be the Will. Rivers will be resigned as the Sam. Who knows who ends up in the Middle. There is Free Agency and the Draft.

Boley had to go, he was terrible last year. He isn't worth the millions he was scheduled to make in 2013.
Remember Joe Delaney

Re: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
I guess this is a good move, as I will trust the front office. I assume they asked him to take a pay cut and he said no.
This could be the start of a very active offseason. I am starting to think that a lot of guys might be gone.
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

Re: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
I like this move. The Giants need to bring in some new blood on defense, let alone shed salaries of has beens. This is a step in right direction. I am all for brining in younger hungrier players with talent on defennse and the OL so i am excited for what is next.
Additionally, cutting players like Boley, dhiel, etc. will help us get under cap to sign cheaper players who are younger

Bring in Paul Pozluzny....He is familiar with Fewell's defense.

I expected that, I think Jacquian Williams is READY! I predict a break out year for Williams next season, just need to stay healthy! Despite the INT's no question Boley lost a step or two

I like Williams and Rivers too, I just don't know how they are at avoiding the injury bugs.

RE: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
Not really surprising if you remember this article from December. Plus, the Giants will free up $3.1 million in cap space so this was the combination of cap savings and a player on the decline. Smart move by, Jerry Reese. Boley was a very good player for us. He was a real force in the Super Bowl playoff run last year. Great in coverage and awesome in blitzing. But he lost a step this year and the Giants are going in a different direction at LBer. If he stays healthy, it seems like Williams position to lose.

First of the NO BRAINER moves this off season.
And I quote...JR..."We don't get paid to go 9-7"
As I mentioned....HEADS WILL ROLL and this is just a start.
Message sent to all others NOT willing to take a cut in pay. You are ALL ON NOTICE..

Re: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
It's tough because you hate to see him go, but based on his play, how can you afford to pay him his salary. But the depth behind him is terrible. Same with Diehl and Webster...how do you justify keeping them - but then you're scared to death of the players behind them.
Giants need a serious upgrade to the LB core.

Need to happen for Boley. Can't wait for Williams to start. Exactly what defense needs at lb.

Re: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
Boley had three interceptions in the first three games this year, but then he utterly stopped making plays. I guess the Giants were not impressed. Maybe the asked him to renegotiate and Boley refused, but maybe they just cut him outright.

RE: Giants cut Michael Boley - per Garafolo
Are the amounts on the roster correct?
Snee is NOWHERE near worth $7.7 mil..no way..no how. I guess his talk or retirement is real because he may not take a cut but if he does...it's HALF that amount. What I don't like is the fact Snee is staying on..or possibly staying on because of "family ties" and for the GOOD of the franchise going forward..this must be taken care of. It's gonna get to the point that because of this..we're not thinking..or JR/TC isn't thinking of the team but of the connection. This pisses me off to no end. We know Diehl is toast..but Snee is heading for the toaster as well.
Diehl..isn't..wasn't and WON'T be worth what's showing. Back-up role!..maybe but for how much? Small cut..or FULL CUT.
Rolle isn't worth $9 mil and either is Webster HUGE SAVINGS on both...one a clear cut..another a PAY CUT.
