Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
If you are watching the Senior Bowl right now, Ziggy Ansah is dominating this game. He is bull rushing, knocking down passes, forcing early throws with pressure and ran down Denard Robinson on a reverse resulting in no gain. I have a feeling he will be taken before the Giants pick at 19, but if not Jerry Reese and the Giants will sprint the card to the podium with Ziggy Ansah written down as there first round pick. Ansah at LDE and JPP at RDE will be a nightmare for OL for years to come.

The OT from OU Lane Johnson is looking good to. Ansah has been a force.

DT Sheldon Richardson is junior entry that I also like, but I feel he may much earlier than 19. Ansah or Johnson would be excellent 1st round selections by Big Blue.

Yeah. Another DE is just what the team needs.

You know what we saw this year JPP without a strong DE opposite him is more or less useless. Not a slam people, Reggie White wouldn't have had the career he had if not for guys like Simmons and Brown playing with him, but it's just an indicator of how easy it'll be to waste a major talent if he doesn't get help.

Good point...Its the overall concept more than how an individual stacks up also how he can make a teammate better

I think the Giants will need to move in front of Dallas to get him.

They also could be looking at offensive line. Two positions the Giants are after. Sucks that a meaningless win against the Eagles cost the Giants 2 spots in the draft order.

Re: Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
What happened to the love for Ojomo and Trattou? Even Tracy seemed like a vialbe option at times. I also feel like there is some nice depth in the OL in this draft that would be worthwhile focusing on.
I continue to hope we focus more on spreading the $$$ resources a little bit away from the DL and sprinkle it about to the LB and DB level. Esp. if we are in this bending not breaking style of D. Seems like it would be advantagious to have better athletes and depth on those second levels.
I also think DT is almost a more pressing need than DE. I feel like we were pretty soft at DT last year. Linval was ok......Kuhn was ok, although I remain curious about him.....Canty is solid when healthy.....which is the minority of the time......and then there's our trying to use DEs at DT, which seems to have been less successful this year than in the past.

I agree with you Jeff. We have JPP, Tuck, Kiwi (maybe), Ojomo and Tracey at DE. You are spot on at DT. If we are thin anywhere it is at LB. Kiwi is a horrible SAM, he is way too tall, lanky and slow for the position. Chase on the other hand is a major liability against the run and in coverage. Some here think we need a CB but I don't agree. Prince and the reemergence of Webster are more than adequate. I wouldn't mind a DE after the 1st round, but DT, LB and possibly CB are bigger priorities IMO. I hope we sign Cruz, Beatty, Boother and Bennet, then grab a DT and a OG/OT type in the free agency period. I am also hoping that we already have our RT on the team in Brewer or maybe we can resign Locklear.

RE: Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
1) how can anyone be upset that the Giants thoroughly dominated the Eagles? I enjoyed every single second of it. Who cares if it costs them 2 draft spots. How accurate is the draft anyways? It's a crapshoot most of the time. I'll take that win ANY DAY. 2) I would much prefer that the Giants land a stud DT than a stud DE. I also would prefer a dominant O-lineman or a playmaking LB over a good DE. That said, if the Giants do draft DE and the guy is really good, I won't be too upset about it.
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

The win meant nothing other than a moral victory for the Giants and for their fans. I would have rather lost and got the 17th pick in the draft. Two spots could be the difference between a Darrelle Revis and an Aaron Ross! Just my preference. Like ya said draft is a crapshoot so the 2 spots might not matter. Only time will tell.

RE: Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
I'm always one who says that if my team stinks I'd rather have an atrocious record so that they can get a better draft choice, but when the team is 9-7, they're not going to get a top 5 pick anyways, so its not that big of a deal. No one knows how any of this will turn out.
But the Eagles have been the biggest thorn in the Giants' side for years and I LOVED watching that game, even though I knew they weren't going to be in the playoffs. It was still fun to watch and I enjoyed it.
Lets hope the Giants draft someone good. Anything other than WR, TE, RB, S and I can't be that upset with it.
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

RE: Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
The two DT's I like in the first round are Sheldon Richardson of Missouri and Kawann Short of Purdue. Short was originally pegged as a 2nd rounder, but his perfomance at the Senior Bowl moved him into the 1st round IMO. 19 could be too high for him, but I would not be against taking him at 19. Richardson seems like he will be gone before we pick, but you never know.
DE is a NEED. Ansah seems like the a prototypical strong side DE. JPP on the right side and Ansah on the left will be awesome for years to come. Both DEs are strong against the run, which was major weakness last year.

Eddie: I agree that there is a need for a pass rushing DE. But the team still has Kiwi, Tuck and JPP. On the other hand, the team is desperate for an ORT who can step right in and play right away. Right now, there isn't one on the entire Roster (assuming Diehl will be cut. That is why I am assuming that the Giants have that spot as their highest "position of need" ahead of DE.

Re: Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah at 19 PLEASE!
Todge,
There are plenty of RTs that can be had in rounds 2 and 3. This draft is actually pretty deep at G's who could also swing out at and play RT.
Our offensive line was very good when Locklear was in at RT. When Locklear went down, the line play went down and Eli was hurried much more. It's not all on Diehl, Snee and Baas were battling some nagging injuries.
The Giants are also going to give Brewer a chance to compete for the starting RT spot. They also have guys like Mosley who can play RT. The Giants like to develop OL and they have a great coach in Flaherty to do the job.
I like Lane Johnson at 19 as well, but if I had my choice I'd take Ziggy Ansah and have two young bookend DEs who are highly athletic guys who can play the run and rush the QB.
