Te'o Supporters

Te'o Supporters

I have stated on here I want no part of Manti Te'o as I dont like drafting average talents in the first round.

Those that are high on Te'o.... does yesterdays news change your opinions on him and what the Giants should do in round 1?

Anyone who makes a decision on a player one day after a story breaks on him where the story itself is clear that they have very little facts and want answers to questions, is making a big mistake.  Let things play out before you make any decisions.  The story is always bigger and there is always another view to it than the first one offered.

Re: Te'o Supporters

Agreed.  It is like drafting players solely on combine results with no attention paid to on-field production.  As for Te'o being an average talent, his production has not been average at all.  You may believe that other factors account for this production, but you can't look at those numbers and conclude "average player".

RE: Te'o Supporters

From what I've read, he is a HUUUUGE liar. My personal opinion is that he's either gay or a pathological liar.

UPDATE: I want to be clear that I wasn't trying to make fun of Manti Te'o when I said he might be gay. I meant it literally. It is definitely one good reason why a star football player would lie about having an online, long-distance relationship when I'm sure most of his teammates are dating girls and/or "hooking up" with girls on a regular basis. Those that know me know that I'm on the liberal side of the isle most of the time, and I definitely am with gays. I would never say someone is gay, in an offensive way.

Good teams rely on their stars,
Great teams rely on each other.

Re: Te'o Supporters

If your going to quote me... at least quote something I said...  I said he was an average TALENT.   I never said he was an average football player.  Average football players dont rack up the stats he did (no matter how weak the schedule) or potential 1st round picks.

Bottom line...  I think he is an average talent and dont think he will be anything special in the NFL.

I will let the story play out.... but a lot of facts are coming out...  Maybe you guys should actually read the facts that have come out.  It is not looking good and Te'o needs to get ready to do a lot of explaining to get himself out of this hole.

He physical ability and mental state were expsoed within weeks... ouch!

Agreed on we need to know the facts.

How about this question.

If T'eo somehow falls to the 4th round, would you draft him then?

YES! He is not average in any way when it comes to football. He should be a productive NFL player for a long time. He is a steal in round 4, whether he had anything to do with this or not.

Calm down kittens! If Teo is available at the Giants spot they better draft him. Teo is not falling to round 4 and ain't likely falling due to this HOAX even if he was in on it. He can play football, that is what matters!

Bradshaw when drafted by us was known to have stolen and x-box or something like that and we still drafted him.

Lets create a list of some other college players drafted, that were actual criminals.

My memory is not serving me well at the moment.

Sect128Mike and Mol10e:

Your missing the point.. whether he was involved in the hoax or not is essentially irrelevant.

1 - He was involved - He is shady and doesnt have the intangables that everyone was saying to lead a deffense
2 - His story is true - And he fell for some girl he never met.... This dude is strange and I dont want any part of him. He clearly has issues.
3 - He is going to bring Tebow like media attention that just brings a major distraction to the team.

On top of that... He doesnt wow me as a football player to begin with and the Notre Dame hype train made him into a 1st round pick.. In my opinion.

No thanks.

PS - Leagued - You could be correct about him being gay.

Your wrong about the hype train, because he was considered a first round pick last year. Then he decided to stay in school for his senior year.

RE: Te'o Supporters

NFL Scouts are currently calling him a late first early 2nd Rd selection! This is after he had his best season yet... The ND Hype train was rolling and somehow mentioning Te'o as a top 10 pick started becoming the norm during the season.... which was never the case. Inside LB's dont get picked that high... If you dont think that the G/F story and ND media hyped this guy up.. your as nuty as he is!

When we look back at this draft 5 years from now.... Te'o wont be 1 of the 5 best LB's in this draft class... take it to the bank. He should be drafted in the 2nd round.

RE: Te'o Supporters

Prior to the BCS National Championship Game, Te'o was being talked about as a top 10 pick and there were discussions here about how the Giants can not get him.

He was terrible in the BCS title game and he was immediately being mocked mid first round, even some mocks had him coming to the Giants.

Now with this bizarre story, his stock may fall even further.

I'd be surprised if the Giants touch this guy and the circus like atmosphere he will bring as this story probably won't go away after he's drafted.

IMO, I think he may be better suited for a 3-4 defense.

Re: Te'o Supporters

Only thing that concerns me about Teo is the media circus but I think that will pass. Only way giants should pass on him is if an OLine or Dline prospect that is elite falls to them.

I think you are mincing words--average player, average talent.  want to explain the difference?  I get it--you don't like him and don't want the Giants to draft him.  There are differing opinions.

RE: Te'o Supporters

The last 4 or so posts...I mentioned pretty
much the same comments on Te'O.

This guy is NOT gonna fix our immediate issues.

We STUNK on conversion in the Red Zone..hence why
we had FG after FG...after. That doesn't mean just
3rd down. Our 4th and short was a JOKE.

Our other issue was LACK of pass rush which exposed
our secondary on the deep passes.

We consistently got pushed around on Offensive running
plays. Pass protection wasn't the issue..the RUN blocking
was.

We cannot without a doubt afford to take "developmental"
players this time around. We need IMPACT players that
can step in DAY ONE..and make a difference.

Of course we cannot solidify our choices until JR makes
off season moves to let players go or resign..but
we can at least form a short list of our NEEDS.

Top 3 or 4 picks per position.

DT:
1.
2.
3.
4.

DE:
1-4

LB
OL
the same
and so forth

Oh and by my calculations..Te'o is NOT on that list.

We had a media circus with Plax and look what the effect
was on our team. The media never let it go.
This issue will NOT go away in the NY media and will persist.
TC & Co...will not want that to bring attention that is not
needed.

JR said and I pretty much quote him....We're not getting paid to go 9-7.
This tells me...crap is gonna hit the fan this time around.

Re: Te'o Supporters

Im not mincing my words... There are a lot of players that play above their talent level... Chase Blackburn is one example.   Manti isnt an extraordinary talent... and that is what you have to be, in order to be drafted in the top 10...  All the top 10 talk was B.S. (media hype)  If he even bothers going to the combines.. his pedestrian numbers will prove this much.

I am just saying he isnt a 1st rd talent and he should be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd rd.

RE: Te'o Supporters

ND has not been significant in the Football
area of NCAA for a decade....so how do you
fix that.

The ND hype machine.

This is how you gain in the recruiting area.

Next question.
When was the last time a ND player had this
much hype..and was a top 10 pick...AND! AND!
was a bust.
