Kiper Mock draft 1.0
http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl...irst-mock-draft This is what makes it so hard to be able to talk intelligently about who the Giants may draft. All season I was following the OT from Central Michigan Eric Fisher. I was anticipating Giants drafting in the mid 20 range. This player was listed in that range in most mocks I looked. I thought he played well and had upside. But now that the 2 OT's from Texas A&M and Michigan have elected to stay in school, this guy has jumped up to #11 in the first 4 mocks I looked at today.

RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
Top Ten:
1) Kansas City Chiefs- Luke Joeckel, offensive tackle, Texas A&M
2) Jacksonville Jaguars - Damontre Moore, defensive end, Texas A&M
3) Oakland Raiders - Star Lotulelei, defensive tackle, Utah
4) Philadelphia Eagles - Dee Milliner, cornerback, Alabama
5) Detroit Lions - Jarvis Jones, outside linebacker, Georgia
6) Cleveland Browns - Bjoern Werner, defensive end, Florida State
7) Arizona Cardinals - Chance Warmack, guard, Alabama
8) Buffalo Bills - Manti Te'o, inside linebacker, Notre Dame
9) New York Jets - Barkevious Mingo, defensive end, LSU
10) Tennessee Titans - Dion Jordan, defensive end, Oregon
11) Chargers take Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
12) Dolphins take Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
13) Bucs take LB Alec Ogletree - Georgia
14) Panthers take Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
15) Saints Pick: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
16) Rams Pick: Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
17) Pit takes DE Ezekiel Ansah...but is considered more LB
18) Cowboys Pick: Jonathan Cooper, G, North Carolina
19) Giants Pick: Sam Montgomery, DE, LSU and if gone! Read the profile..not 2 great and has already had a knee problem...next. Alex Okafor, DE, Texas HATE BOTH...JR should trade pick...I hope that Olgetree falls..we take.
20) Bears Pick: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
21) Bengals - RB Montee Ball - Wisconson
22) Rams Pick: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama..........OH MAN. I'd rather have this guy for Giants
23) Vikings Pick: Terrance Williams, WR, Baylor
24) Colts Pick: Menelik Watson, OT, FSU or Pick: Barrett Jones, C/OT, Alabama
25) Seahawks Pick: John Jenkins, DT, Georgia...Actually I see this more Giants. NEED but got benched because of "academic" reasons. His back up Geathers is even better than Jenkins.
26) Packers Pick: Zach Ertz, TE, Stanford
27) Texans Pick: Keenan Allen, WR, Cal
28) Broncos Pick: Xavier Rhodes, CB, FSU
29) Ravens Pick: Kevin Minter, LB, LSU
30) 49ers Pick: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
31) Patriots Pick: DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
32) Falcons Pick: Margus Hunt, DE, SMU
There are alternatives I've seen on many of the picks....

RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
A lot of mocks have JR picking DE with the first pick. If so, it certainly shows that JR still does not understand defense. A bit ago I found five mock drafts. Four had JR going DE. I found that dispiriting. What I found even more dispiriting was the comment that a certain DE was the last good DE in the draft. Still, there is hope. Last year giants.com followed 14 mock drafts. Eight picked TE. Maybe, just maybe, JR will realize that DE is not DL.

--------------------------------------------- Not for nothing but giving him full credit for the 2007 SB is a load of cr@p, and I am not saying that JR doesnt deserve credit for bringing in some decent talent, but dont hang 2 superbowl hats on him and say he is a drafting genius, he has had some misses as well

RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
Of course he has had misses, that doesnt change the talent he has brought in. He and his team do a great job with the draft. Every GM has misses - even the best - evaluate JR on the talent he has brought in. CgkenBMC wrote:

RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
These are mock drafts based on an analysts assumptions about the potential thought process the GM may follow at the time of the draft. They have not spoken to any GM at this point in the process.
So I would not put too much stock in it and saying he "still does not understand defense". Why don't we wait until we get closer to the draft and see what Reese actually does before we start insulting him?

Re: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
Ol' Mel may need to rejigger this after that silly T'eo story about the fabricated g/f. How bizarre is that?
I'm not a draftnik......so I don't really know how all of these guys will end up shaking out. I hope the earlier rounds feature a mauler OL and a CB. From there....however it shakes out, it shakes out.

RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
Enuff with the 2 superbowl bs. He was part of building it but not the GM.
His challenge is NOW. What he has gotten the team into over the last 5 years with some big holes and alot of $ to older players and being one of the top teams at or above the payroll.
JR is going to earn every $$$ he gets this year as what he does in FA and with the current roster is Job #1. It will lay the foundation for the next 2-4 years and either put us in serious rebuild mode or get us into a challenger that can maybe get a hit or 2 in the draft.
DT and OL should be our focus .....

Re: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
I expect the same crap from JR, he will blow another draft pick by drafting according to the best player availabble instead of what the team needs, he will sit on his a$$ and instead of signing a high impact free agent who could make an imediate impact on the team, he will go to the free agent dump and throw away money by signing past their prime free agents with the excuse that is for depth.

Re: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
Funny how things on here are perceived...by the way the Giants draft, some give credit to JR for the drafting that EA did and to Ross for the drafting that JR has done ! I feel that JR definitely had a part of the 2007 SB season with him picking up K.Mitchell & Hedgecock and the drafting of rookies Bradshaw,Boss,Johnson & Ross who all played valuable parts in that season's end run! There's leftovers from EA's era,but guys like Nicks,Manningham,Cruz & JPP were heavy contributors in the 2011(SB) so have to say that's pretty much JR's credit(or Ross if preferred). Drafting ...we know there's no magic formula, despite of StonedInvestor...lol.....there's hits & misses, hopefully more hits than misses! The pats have been said to have a great drafting system thru the years, yet I glanced at their 2007-2009 drafts(29 players) and how many starting, better yet,how many are left on their team? In other words,we can't expect all hits......that's reality!
It was only at a glance, but it seems the GMs... GY & EA took several years of drafting each before they got it going...could be wrong.
It's fun TRYING to figure which FAs they will lose & which they'll sign(own & other teams),re-evaluating prospects after the Combine and of course the Draft,BUT come on preseason !!....lmao

The Eagles, Skins and Cowboys used these exact strategies and how has that turned out for them... RE: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
I've seen mock drafts that have the Giants taking a DE or a TE in the first round, while real good OT and C prospects are drafted just after their selection.
If that happened in real life, I might jam my thumbs into my eye balls. DRAFT OL OR DT!!
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

Re: Kiper Mock draft 1.0
It's nice to see a view of the draft however between now and then a lot will happen Manti Te-O for instance , plus there's always trading up and down. If the Giants can't get a player they want I'm sure they'll trade down it's just about guaranteed the Patriots will have 6-3 RD picks giving up 1st and 2nd round picks, as they stock pile lower round picks the Giants have had the same policy a few times
A skinny English kid once told me,
No, you can't always get what you want, No, you can't always get what you want, But if you try sometime, you just might find You get what you need.
Did anybody think Brady in the 6th round was what NE wanted? However he was exactky what they needed. I love 3rd and 4th round picks I bet overall there's been far better value there than in most of they higher picks.
