Jerry Reese`s luck has finally run out

Jerry Reese`s luck has finally run out

I`ve never been a big fan of Jerry Reese and it finally happened, all those blown draft picks, faling to fix key positions on the Giants roster, wasting money on past their prime free agents  and not being more active in the free agent finally caught up to him and today it just blew in his face.

So he was a genius last week when the team scores 50+, but one shutout later he's a moron. I think you're overreacting again...

You mentioned this in another thread, who are you referring to?

Giants were tight against the cap this year.  We knew there wasn't going to be big free agent acquisitions.

Wake up!!! This team was 9-7 last year NOT 16-0. I really can't understand why so many fans thought just because this team had a great run through last season's playoffs it meant they were going to be a dominate 14-2 type of team. They're 35-27 over the last four seasons. Does that record make anyone think they're a dominant team? They are a win by the seat of their pants and hope they get a shot to make a run in the playoffs team, just accept it already and fans won't have these weekly meltdowns I see in the game threads. They aren't going to start dominating the league because some fans want them to really, really bad.

2010 - they were 7 min from being the #2 seed overall in the NFC.  Miracle in the Meadowlands II ended that

2011 - they lost more games to starters than any team in the history of the NFL besides the 1998 Detroit Lions since a 16 game schedule was introduced.  SB Champs

2012 - chinks are showing in the armor of some againg veterans yet anybody who follows the draft knows JR's crew has been very solid.  The team hasn't looked too hot but this is a ridiculous schedule and the defending champ gets the best out of every opponent.

This team will either make a run or some changes will occur starting with some vets.  The roster is still in very good shape.

Can't force the coaching staff to use the players he draft and sign...it took injuries to finally play Wilson at RB, Randle looked good at receiver when the coaching staff actually decides to use him

as for free agent signings, Bennett been a solid pick up at TE when we actually USE HIM, Locklear turned out to be a very good pick before he got injured, Stevie Brown was a EXCELLENT Pick Up

So Reese is not the problem at all, only negative I have with him is his inability to upgrade the LB Position...we need a stud (or two) at LB

The "stud LB" has been an issue since LT left. The 2 best LB's since he left combined is not as good as LT.

Oh, come on! Jerry Reese has won us 2 Super Bowls with his picks...we can't win it every friggin' year...he's going to retool this team for next year and we will make another run, you watch...he is a very talented and heady GM and has done wonders picking out late rounders and solid fill ins(Stevie Brown..duh!!!). Anyway - 2 more games and we'll see what da 'Boys and 'Skins do, maybe we make a token appearance in the Poffs!

Agree 100%, I saw this a long time ago and many fans were just to blind to see it or didnt want to accept the fact that this team is very inconsistent. Some of you were willing to bet the house that the Giants were gonig to make another SB run just on the fact that it happened twice already and it`s something many Giants fans have come to expect but this year was different, the inconsistent play along with an atrocious play calling began from day one. How can a team that looked so good against the 49ers,Packers and scored 52 points last week looked so bad against the Falcons? They also struggled against crappy teams like the Bucs, Browns and Eagles I`ve never been a big fan of Jerry Reese but I guess this time the coaching staff deserves more of the blame than Jerry does.

I agree with the post that we're not a dominate team, we can have some dominate games but we are far from a dominate team , on the plus side we have had two recent winning SB runs.  While some really dominant teams fell by the wayside.

If we didn't have another great run last year TC would have in likelihood be gone, we have had one melt down after another it's been going on for years but twice we caught lighting in a bottle and until we're done this year we still can catch that lighting.
I don't think we will catch that lighting but the odds were stacked against us before and we did. we're like those vampire movies we're not dead until they officially drive the stake through our heart.

Re: Jerry Reese`s luck has finally run out

I'm not seeing his luck run out anywhere.

Prince has had a fantastic year and looks totally worthy of the #1 pick we spent on him. A healthy Jacquian Williams still looks like an impact player. Wilson, Randle, Hosley and Kuhn have all contributed this year.

The problem on this team isn't with the newcomers.

Re: Jerry Reese`s luck has finally run out

For the life of me I cannot see the logic in this thread.    Now it is not enough the Giants have won 2 SBs in 4 years?  Now they need to be DOMINANT in doing so to satisfy a portion of their fan base?    By the way - what exactly is flawed about a team that can go on a post season run that requires them to win ALL their playoff games on the road - TWICE IN FOUR YEARS?!

Teams get older (Tuck, CWEB, Osi), great assistant coaches get poached (Spags), TV schedules for SB Champions are difficult due to national games, economics require hard roster decisions (Jacobs, Manningham) and yes players lose some fire (seemingly all of them yesterday.   This is why it is incredibly difficult to win back to back SB championships...and the last ones to do THAT (Pats) haven't lifted a Lombardi trophy since.    We may well need to face the fact that this group of Giants Champions may well be on the downhill side of their run but I for one am glad we have Jerry Reese's "luck" to rebuild...and I will take Tom Coughlin standing on that sideline as long as he has the fire to do so.
