What an opportunity!!!
Niners and Bears both lose! With a win Monday we could be in much better position to pick off a higher seed. Wouldn't (potentially) more than one home playoff game be great?

It would be nice to have more than one home game, but we'll see if it happens. Tomorrow night will tell us a lot.
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

Re: What an opportunity!!!
It's right there for the taking. Mathematically, we could get to the 1 seed if we win out and things break right.
If we win tomorrow night, we are the 3 seed and the Packers are the 4 seed (Giants hold tie breaker over Packers).
If we beat the Falcons, we hold the tie breaker over them. We beat the 49ers already so we hold the tie breaker over them as well.
First things first, we have to beat the Redskins tomorrow and then take it one game at a time.
But the Giants are sitting pretty with 5 to play and can move up in terms of playoff seeding.

The Falcons would have to lose 3 of there final 4 games. That is not likely, but mathematically still possible. And if we win out and they lose 3 out of 4 than we would be the 1 seed because we would both be 12-4 and hold the tie breaker. We have a more realistic shot at the 2 seed than the 1 seed.

Re: What an opportunity!!!
Besides Atlanta, these playoff teams appear to be more and more flawed each week.

Niners are stupid. Alex Smith, in my opinion is better than Karpernick.

Re: What an opportunity!!!
Atlanta having the one seed is NOT a major advantage.
They've been beat at home as well as on the road in the playoffs.
They've been getting pretty banged up as of late, especially in the secondary.

Re: What an opportunity!!!
Lets not get ahead of ourselves. The Giants need to take care of their own business first. I am not worried about the other teams so much as us winning the NFC East. The loss by the eagles(onlytime I rooted for them) opens the door for dallas if we stumble in washington. As TC says; one game at a time

Re: What an opportunity!!!
My thread on this very topic was a bit ahead of this probability. Who the heck would have seen the Niners going to the brink with the Rams again? What a bizarre year this is in the NFL. It's unbelievable.
Hey.......I'm with those that wants to just win this division and get ourselves in the playoffs, first and foremost. I think a Bye week would be nice in the playoffs. I don't think it's an overrated thing.....today's NFL schedules sometimes slant in certain directions such that certain teams find their way into 14-2 schedules that make them appear better than they are. The best teams win at the end of the day, and that will certainly be true this year.
At any rate.....taking out the Redskins would go a long way towards making us all rest a lot easier. I don't feel like going into the following 4 games with a 7-5 record......I stick with my goal of having us at 9-6 going into week 17, not having to worry about anything.

Where in that paragraph did you read even an inference that the Giants should play a home playoff game or have an advantage by playing at home? I was speaking strictly about the misperception that Atlanta having home field is any kind of an advantage to them.

RE: What an opportunity!!!
The Giants looked pretty good at home last January against Atlanta. I'd like to see them play all their games there against teams like San Fran, Chicago, Green Bay, etc. Its been 12 years since we saw a Championship Game in NY with the fans celebrating another trip to the Super Bowl. I'd love to see that again.
Is anyone here nervous though about playing road games this post season? Atlanta has won so many games in the final seconds, I'm not really impressed. San Fran? We've won there twice in a row. Green Bay? Two straight playoff wins there.
Oh well, I want a win tonight for numerous reasons including keeping momentum going from the Green Bay win, not having to worry about a one game lead down the stretch, putting the rest of the NFC East way behind us, sending a message to the rest of the NFC.
Good teams rely on their stars, Great teams rely on each other.

RE: What an opportunity!!!
I hope the Giants are serious about taking these games seriously. I mean what else would you expect them to say. But with very little pressure right now as far as our playoff lives I just hope the Giants play this game like it should be played. There is an opportunity to not only put the division in a stranglehold but also move closer to the #3 seed. I really hope they play with a sense of urgency tonight and not sleepwalk.

RE: What an opportunity!!!
IF the Giants make the playoffs, no guarentee on that yet, I would like for them to avoid Seattle and New Orleans in the 1st round. Those two teams are dangerous.

RE: What an opportunity!!!
I said it elsewhere yesterday: with this team. just worry about them getting in (why some people want home games is a mighty big puzzle).
Even if they had won tonite, still wasn't a lock for them, and certainly isn't after this loss.
Drew Brees has been the old Purdue Drew Brees the last couple of weeks - Gs gotta hope that continues. No sign that Perry and Co will outscheme them....
