OT: Anyone else following this Little Falls case?

a couple teenagers broke into this guy's house a few weeks ago and he gunned them down. people in the community are torn on it. some think the guy had a right to defend himself and his home, particularly since his home had been broken into before. others think he went too far in killing them.

I have relatives there. Personally I think that if you break into someones home, and you get F'd up, thats on you. They picked the wrong house and the wrong guy to F with. What he did was excessive but I don't feel sorry for the kids whatsoever.

i don't have sympathy for the kids either, but i have mixed feelings. did he have to kill them? or would wounding them have been enough? then again, while they're down maybe one of them pulls a gun on him and kills him instead.

I wouldn't call it sympathy, simple that lots of teenagers do really dumb stuff, including breaking and entering and end up maturing at some point.

Executing killing isn't OK, period.

I have no problem with someone defending themselves if they feel threatened but he went way beyond that and deserves whatever they throw at him.

Two parties were ultimately at fault in the end, this guy will likely spend the rest of his life in prison.

......wow..... I can't glean any actual factual material about what happened from the article you linked......but the first questions that came to MY mind were.... if the kids had broken into a house the night before ...HOW did we know THAT.. and WHY weren't they in jail?......

Need the details of how the killing went down to make judgement BUT if someone comes into your home, they have every right to defend themselves. Now if they come in and you take them, wound them, then execute them, that's a little much and def a case that needs to be heard

This is what we call, evolution. The dumb die earlier than the intelligent in cases like this, don't do a B & E, period

When someone breaks into your house you are past the time for evaluation. You broke in, I don't know why...................GOODBYE.

That is brutal. Calculated. Cold blooded. Whether its legal or not, is a mere technicality: this guy murdered 2 people in his home.

Gotta agree.

This is old news.

People who know the guy are torn about it too. His home had been broken into before, and this time he was ready for it. He went too far this time, but he has all kinds of video/audio stuff to back up his story also.

I'll wait until the entire story comes out before I judge the man.

He admitted to it, tough to see a way out for the guy after he admits to incapacitating them (legal) and then executing them (1st degree murder).

It might be interesting to see how many people break into his house from here on out. My guess is you won't need a calculator to keep track.

Re: OT: Anyone else following this Little Falls case?

I take issue with "calculated", as they broke into HIS home.  If someone breaks into my home, the odds of them living through the next minute aren't real good.  Everyone knows how to shoot, and the horrible truth is that it is legally advisable to kill intruders rather than wounding them...because stupid laws continue to protect criminals.

Granted, you're not supposed to kill unarmed invaders...but it's hard to see in the dark, etc etc etc.  Protecting yourself and your family, you can certainly make the case that you can't afford to take chances.

At the end of the day, breaking into a house in a country with legal firearms is extremely risky and stupid...drugs may have helped add to their dumbassity.

They tried to commit a crime, and only the man who defended his home knows what the actual confrontation was like.  Tough to judge from the bleacher seats.

It feels more like a manslaughter case to me than murder. He didn't go looking for them, he went over the line but if they didn't break in they'd still be alive today.

I'd give him 5 to 7 years at the most.
