PREDICT THE SCORE - WEEK 1 VIKINGS/RAMS

Posted: 8/26/2014 1:37 AM

PREDICT THE SCORE - WEEK 1 VIKINGS/RAMS

I'll go with 24-17 Vikes....

Cassel will throw for 275 yards 2 tds and 1 int with Jennings & Rudolph getting the TDs

AP will get 85 and a TD and McKinnon gets 50 rushing in a balanced attack

Walsh hits a 45 yarder and kicks it out the endzone on each kickoff preventing any kick return damage.

Barr will get 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble and Captain picks one off late to seal it.  We win the turnover battle and win the game.

1-0!

Vikes knock Shaun Hill out of the game, Gilbert comes in and makes the game close. Vikes hang on 27-24

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

Vikings win 38 - 9

The defense steps up and Zimmer shows his ability to get guys in the right place. Domination of a team that will be one dimensional

Cassel throw for 325 yards 3 TDs,

AP Rushes for 150 yards and has 6 receptions for 50 yards - two TDs one of them receiving.

Rudolph has a big day as does Patterson.

The team looks very good, ready and capable. The look like a Machine on the road and we get our first real look at the personality of this team. It all works.

Joseph and Floyd inside with Stephen rotating in for relief shuts down the running game completely and puts the pressure on Hill and young WRs... Rhodes and Munnerlyn step up. Barr gets the the QB once and Griffen twice... to start the season on a high.

+1.  I'm very concerned about our pass blocking after watching the starters against the Chiefs.  Kalil is a liability and CJ is well CJ.  Loadholdt may be playing on a bad ankle.  The Rams front is ferocious and Quinn is going to be tough to stop even if Kalil gets help from a RB or TE.  Hopefully, AP can rip off some long runs and Cassel can protect the ball.  If not, I see the Vikes losing a low scoring game.

Rams will have their d on the field a lot. And although theit d-line is gonna be good they get worn out. Vikings win 31-10

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

This will be low scoring because the Rams have a terrific D and a pathetic offense.

17-10, whoever gets a lucky bounce has the 17. On the road, Im guessing the Rams....

This is the most accurate synopsis of all statements. Why? The rams will quickly realize, yet be able to do nothing about it,  that Tampa-2 no longer exists in Minnesota, and that the 9-man front no longer works against Adrian Peterson coming out of the back field over the middle or in the flat.

Leslie Frazier is no longer in town!

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

We lose a close one in a shocker.  Cassel struggles to maintain drives completing just over 50% of his throws, having numerous balls batted down at the line of scrimmage as well as a few drops. One of those tips is returned for a pick six early on. AD starts off very rusty averaging just 3.5 yards a carry on and 72 yards but has one 32 yard TD run. Defense misses numerous opportunities for INTs hanging on to only one.  Offensive Line gives up 4 sacks with most being the fault Cassel's tentativeness in the pocket.  Special Teams keeps it close with a return TD by Patterson.  Defense cant seem to stop the pass late in the game losing in the final drive.

Fans are angry following the game calling for the starting of TB.  Zimmer makes it clear immediately that Cassel is our starter and we will be staying with him.

Or we win in blowout fashion, 38 - 6.  Point is nothing would surprise me with the Vikings. Often seems the years we go in with the most optimism and perceived improvements is when we do our worst.  i am certainly excited about this year though and seeing how it plays out

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

Shaun Hill is 1-3 against the Vikings as a starter with low statistics.

I expect a low scoring game with the Viking's offense putting up slightly more points than the Rams and the Viking's defense stopping the Ram's offense within the last minute to prevent a loss.

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

Vikes 17, Rams 14.

I am very concerned about the OL - if they don't tighten their play, we are going to see Cassell and AP on their backs way too often. I see a close game with ST playing a large part

I do believe our D is ready to go from 32 to 15-22 and this alone will add several wins.

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

I agree this is a possibility and Norv Turner is going to have to call a good game to keep the Ram's defense off balance and guessing.  This might be enough to give Cassel additional time, or give Peterson a chance to get through a gap.

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

it's difficult to predict now especially since the recent play of our right tackle. I predict that Peterson will not have a great game rushing because their defensive line is really tough. I think he will have either a long completion or he takes to the house. I think Everson Griffen will do well and get a sack or two as well as Sharif and someone unexpected like Jasper Brinkley.

I think we will struggle to pass because it will not be easy to run against them with their front four doing a lot of gap shooting and overpowering. so I think Matt Cassel will get around 190 yards passing and 1 touchdown as well as one interception.

I think Chris Crocker will make the team and get an interception off of a tip

I predict that Charlie Johnson will do fair but Matt Kalil will continue to struggle. I think we wind up losing 20 to 17 on a late field goal

If we lose to the rams without bradford i would expect the team to get maybe two wins this year.

We won't lose. Vikes 27 - Rams 10

Re: PREDICT THE OUTCOME OF THE RAMS GAME

Minnesota 31, St. Louis 23 …
Cassell throws two TDs (Rudolph & Patterson), Xavier Rhodes pick six and AD scores on a short run.
Peterson runs for 100 yards exactly on 18 carries, Robison gets two sacks … and this board is smiling after week one.

ST and defense wins this game as the defense scores one TD and Patterson returns a long KR run for our offense to score on a short field.

I am not competent enough to run it so I hope somebody is.  That was always fun getting a shout out for being the closest one to predict it.

I have run the "Predict the Score Contest" the last three years. Nobody has come forward to take it over, unless that's what this poster is doing. I usually don't put my post out until the week prior to the game. I see a lot of people posting scores on this thread. If the original poster isn't going to keep track of it the whole year, I will post the Week 1 contest early next week and I will pull any scores from this post for the people who have already replied here.

Rams 20 Vikes 17. Road game and I see that Rams front causing some turnovers which will be the difference.

Of course I hope I'm wrong. I won't believe they've turned the corner until they do it.

Predict the Score Contest - Week 1

The Vikings travel to St. Louis to take on the Rams on Sunday September 7th at Noon CST. Reply with your prediction of the final score by kickoff. The weekly winner will be the person who comes closest to the final score. (Net points) For example, you predict the Vikings win 27-14. They actually win 21-17. You would be 6 points off on the Vikings score and 3 points off on the opponents score for a total of 9 points off of the final score. I will keep track of the entries all year and post who the weekly winners are as well as how people do for the season.

I see some have already posted guesses on the post started by turnedtothepurpleside4. I have taken your scores from that post and entered them into my spreadsheet. If you want to change your guess before kickoff, just reply to this post and I will change it for you.

I have run this for the past three years. We usually start out strong, 70-80 people, but then we drop off to 20-30 by the end of the season. This is just for fun and it only takes a minute to reply with your best guess of the final score so let's keep the numbers up for the entire season!

Thanks for playing,

jarheadvikesfan
