How Fast will the Rams get a new QB?

How Fast will the Rams get a new QB?

No way Fisher will throw in the towel and let Shaun Hill run with this team for the whole year.  So, who will their GM target.  Mallet, Ponder, maybe even Mike Glennon could be the man on their short list.  Whomever it is, they have 2 weeks to prepare their new QB to take the reins on their 2014 season.  So much talent on that roster to let Hill ruin their season.  How much time will it take ESPN to bring out Favre's name again?

Trade Cassel to the Rams

Trade Cassel to the Rams for  3rd and let's get on with our future.  Ponder can stock around and backup.

I would go with Shaun Hill over Sanchez.

Now if I was STL Mallet and Glennon would be my choice to come in and compete for the starting quarterback spot. I would pick those two because of potential.

No.  Trade Ponder for a late draft pick along with their youngest developmental QB.

I'd trade Ponder to the Rams for Gilbert and a 7th in a heartbeat

Re: Trade Cassel to the Rams

I've thought for some time that the Vikings will trade Cassel at the END of the season. He will still have one year left under contract. If he does well this season, we should get a 2nd or 3rd for him (the same draft as if we trade him now, why rush ?). And, I wouldn't rule out extending Ponder as the designated backup, saving us the need to draft another QB.

Then trade up for 2, or 3, first rounders. Deep threat WR, versatile rusher, versatile RB.
- Amari Cooper WR with a 4.3 40 and lots of production from Alabama
- Todd Gurley RB Speed, size, power (closest thing to AD in the draft) from Georgia
- Randy Gregory DE 6'6" 240 pound bookend for Barr from Nebraska

Would you rather have one of those guys, or 33 year old Matt, in 2015 ?

No way do I want CP as the only other QB...maybe MC plays well this yr and starts all games. I would rather start TB at some pt this yr. But no way Ponder as the main BU!!!

Re: Trade Cassel to the Rams

this is the stupidest post this week.   why would you trade a starting QB for one?   then for a 3rd rd pick?

people need to calm down about bridgewater.   he's playing well but it's preseason against 2nd string defenses and  vanilla defense.

Cassell is a veteran and much more ready to handle starting qb role

I don't think the Rams would settle for Ponder as their starting QB. And I don't see us moving Cassel there either because our QB situation is very good now with Teddy developing behind him. Don't expect a trade with the Rams at all.

I believe they didn't pick up his fifth year option so this is his last year.

One thing is for sure Shaun Hill starts against the zVikes week one, unless he gets hurt in the final preseason game.

Re: Trade Cassel to the Rams

You may think of it as a stupid post, but it was widely thought that we the worst QB situation in the league last year.  The last time i checked we still have 2 of those qbs on this team.  Teddy has played as well as Cassel when he has gotten his opportunities.  All we are doing is delaying his development by sitting him on the bench for journeyman qb. He will have to go through this on field learning process sooner or later.  I for one would prefer that be now so that we don't waste two season on qb development.  Plus, we can't get anything for Ponder.  So trade Cassel while the value is as high as its going to get.

Glennon was on my radar pre-draft. Not super high on the radar, but still on it. He sounds like the best option of all that were mentioned. I am on board with giving up Ponder for a pick (frankly any pick) though.

Re: Trade Cassel to the Rams

I think he is saying extend Ponder at the end of the year.

I don't think Spileman is thinking that though, I think Ricky is hoping someone calls and offers anything for Ponder.

One thing that won't happen to Ponder on the Bench, he won't get hurt.

Re: Trade Cassel to the Rams

If he Rams offered something crazy like Ogletree or Laurinitis for Cassel, I'd certainly take that deal, but I don't see that happening.
