Strong opinions on the Vikings

Strong opinions on the Vikings

Do you have any really strong opinions about this year's team?

Personally I've already decided that if Bridgewater doesn't start the first game of the season I'm boycotting this year. I just can't take another season of watching scrubs at QB with the Vikings constantly failing. It's too damn frustrating and it's depressing. Going 0-6 is a good possibility with Cassel or Ponder at the helm.

1.  I really believe Mike Zimmer is going to be an outstanding coach.

2.  I really don't want Matt Cassel to be our starting QB.

Re: Strong opinions on the Vikings

I think Zimmer and Turner will work wonders with our young players. As excited as I am to see Bridgewater take over at QB, I hope the Vikings are reasonably conservative in deciding when he is ready. I know many fans believe that we shouldn't be afraid to throw him right into the fire and let him learn on the job. That's fine with me if he is truly ready. I just don't want to see him thrown to the wolves because its the popular decision, fail miserably, and then began to acquire that "deer in the headlights" look in his eyes. Sometimes that look doesn't go away. I hate that. JMO

Vikes will miss Jared Allen a lot more than anyone is willing to admit.

Yep.. He has the right, but it won't do any good unless you have the vast majority. When Cassell starts those boycotting will do so with little effect. They will be in the minority,  fans have been unhappy before. Steckel, childress, twice, Frazier, McNabb,t jack, etc, but fans are fans and we stand by them heck and high water.

Having a majority is not so important. Better to have a small but vocal group of whiners and a compliant media machine to parrot your whining. Women make up half the population but you can still punch one in the face and get only a 2 game suspension. All the LGB&T's combined make up less than 3% of the population but they whine louder and more effectively. Therefore, making a joke about one gets you a 3 game suspension.

If you like your plan, you can keep your plan. It was a YouTube video. I found out about this from the same news reports you saw.

Re: Strong opinions on the Vikings

Regardless of which of the three qb's ends up as starter, this team should win 10-11 games as well as the division. If they don't beat themselves, and with actual competent coaches now in place so that inferior opponents won't be capable of coming back from 4th quarter deficits like last season, there's nothing standing in their way to win the division outright. The only difference in the 4 division teams overall last year was we had horrible coaching and bad schemes, the other 3 did not.Now all 4 are on an even playing field. The 3 division foes qb's had their easy times against crap cover2 defenses and got away with a lot, those days are over now!

Re: Strong opinions on the Vikings

But viking fans are viking fans and very few will follow threw on that boycott. Maybe Jedi will be that rare one. But it won't make that  big a difference. Money talks. The biggest difference maker would be season ticket buyers boycott. But very few of them would follow thru. If they didn't buybavseason ticket it would be more because they couldn't afford it than boycotting them.

Look at Green Bay. They can't get season tickets unless one dies.they are not going to boycott

Boycott?  Forget it, I tried that last year with little effect.  Well my wish came true but it was after I came back.   Missing that 1/2 a game was grueling.

Which has nothing to do with this thread.

Re: Strong opinions on the Vikings

1.  As long as Cassel starts, all hope is gone.  We know what his ceiling is, and it would give a dwarf a concussion.    I can't make myself go as far as a boycott, but I'd be watching primarily to see AD move up the all-time rankings and, um, well that's pretty much it.

2. Zimmer is in the process of making a mistake by not giving any 1st team LG reps (that I've heard of anyway) to Yankey.   Zimmer is apparently willing to settle for a player who has stunk at two positions for 3 years and sacrifice Yankey's chance to the god of continuity.

3. MLB is still a black hole.  Brinkley vs. Cole... the only position battle where people watching live-speed tape think it's in slo-mo.

Maybe the Vikings should hire Keith Morrison as their next coach... at least we know he can make an adjustment.

I think Ponder's days as anything close to a starter in Minnesota are long gone, barring a miracle or injuries.

My strong feeling is twofold.  Why the hell did we bring Jasper Brinkley back?  Now they're thinking about putting Greenway there.  And why was Charlie Johnson re-signed?  We needed a legitimate starter not a fifth round hopeful or one of the worst rated guards in the league (Ducasse).

MODS could institute a season long ban if MC is starts week one. The board owes it to Jedi---help him stay strong on his promise!

If Cassel starts game 1 I'll still post here but I won't watch the games. By week 6 yall will know why too and it will be too late to do anything about it. Season over before it started. Cassel is downright terrible. If the Vikings don't realize that Bridgewater as a rookie is in the same class as Luck and Wilson were at that stage all I can do is shake my head.

They better not wear purple on purple uniforms for a game this year. If they do, I will boycott that game.

that sounds like a half-assed boycott.

Re: Strong opinions on the Vikings

I'm a pragmatist to the core. As my wife says, to a fault. I have lived and died purple and gold since that Sunday in January 1977. Laying on my stomach, hands on my chin... Waiting to watch my Vikings beat the Raiders... That was the first day of the rest of my life. I believe this team is going to do something magical. That will make all of us angry old guys say "holy shite"

Won't go out on the SB limb, but deep into the playoffs.
