I'll side with Wallace and his "ignorance".

Also disappointed that the team had to throw in they're "two-cents" worth of politically correct Bu!!sh!t

The PC crowd is chomping at the bit to get a fruit in an NFL locker room.

Twitter has to be the worst invention in the world. Not only do I not care who is gay or not I also don't care who else cares about who is gay or not.

So I guess we have to not only endure articles about someones sexual orientation but also articles about peoples twitter responses to someones sexual orientation. Its the worst of both worlds.

There are lots of 'fruits' in the locker room already. If you don't think there are then you are fooling yourself.  Heck, you might be surprised that some of your co-workers or the boys you hang with at the local watering hole are gay.  The team didn't do it for political correctness.  Maybe the TEAM realizes that in the 21st century it shouldn't matter if you are gay or not, all that should matter is how well you play football.  It's a sad commentary on humanity when a person is still afraid to live openly regardless of their sexual orientation because of bigotry and hate.

I'm not gay but I also don't care if someone I know is gay.  Rather be friends with an intelligent gay person than an ignorant bigoted redneck...

Yes but as crazy as this sounds there are still people that believe in God and the bible.  So them telling me that it is OK to be gay, is essentially saying that my God is a liar or doesnt exist.  So that offends me...

I don't hate gay people, we all have our own sins and I sure do not have a right to cast any stones.

I guess the way I really feel about it is, what in the crap does sexuality have to do with sports anyways?  If I was an NBA player right now I would simply re-tweet him and say "ya, so?"

The reason Wallace is being called "ignorant" from his tweet isnt because of his feelings regarding gay being right or wrong, it is simply that he still at his age cant grasp the concept of someone being gay.  Its not like this is a brand new thing...

I'm pretty appalled that the overwhelming reaction on this board is to support Wallace. I think it's pretty embarassing honestly - thanks to Dante though, at least one person isn't coming across as close minded.

The Bible and God also say its ok to kill your neighbor if they work on Sunday.

RE: Dave Hyde's Acceptance Vs Mike Wallace's Ignorance

First of all, telling you it's ok to be gay isn't telling you God is a liar or doesn't exist. It's saying that the bible isn't meant to be interpreted exactly literally in the 21st century. Does saying it's ok to get tattoos equate to telling you God doesn't exist? The bible also preaches tolerance above all things, saying it's ok to be gay makes the bible's word stronger than ever.

I'm pretty appalled that the overwhelming reaction on this board is to support Wallace. I think it's pretty embarassing honestly - thanks to Dante though, at least one person isn't coming across as close minded.

This is a good one from the Bible
Leviticus 19:20
And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged;

Thats right, if you sleep with a slave girl you have to then kill her.

First of all if you think the Dolphins didnt do what what they did out of political correctness  then you are misguided about the team and how they are concern about public relationship .In no way or form does it make a person  ignorant bigoted redneck just because they dont understand something what someone else believe.

Re: Dave Hyde's Acceptance Vs Mike Wallace's Ignorance

The comment "All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH..." is ignorant. It's very obviously ignorant. According to Wallace's logic, women should only be interested in women too, as there are so many beautiful women in the world. He is ignorant to the fact that regardless of beauty, people are attracted to whoever they feel attracted to, and if this means men are attracted to men then so be it. He said he didn't understand it - what is implied is he doesn't understand it because it's not natural.

For many of us, homosexuality doesn't seem natural.
For homosexuals, heterosexuality doesn't seem natural. What Wallace's tweet does is it creates an environment of otherness... "I don't understand gays, they are so different, they can't appreciate beautiful women". This is a hindrance on the road to acceptance - I have friends who are gay who struggled to accept it themselves because they didn't think they'd be accepted by the world. Remarks like Wallace's fuel that type of thought, and lead to more unhappy people who are unable to accept themselves. Jason Collins became one of the bravest athletes of our generation, and Mike Wallace gave him an "SMH...". That is very simply not ok, and I'm glad the team took a stand against it.

Don't forget Exodus 21:7 where by it is written its acceptable to sell your daughter into slavery. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price?

I think Wallace just really embarrassed himself. 'I just don't understand it!' Really Mike? REALLY? Some guys are attracted to other guys. You can grasp an NFL playbook but you can't grasp that simple concept. Either he was trying to stir up a hornets nest or he's mind blowingly stupid.

So because he doesnt uderstand why someone wouldnt want to be with a beautiful makes him close minded? Please do me a favor and explain to me how in the hell is that being close minded.         So believing the norm is being close minded? What to know the funny thing is?According to all my gay friends that are women dont even understand why a man would want to be with a man.So I guess that all of them are close minded. They would tell you that you are the one being the close minded.Anyone can believe in what ever way they do and it doesnt make them close minded because who knows who is right or wrong and it doesnt matter.

RE: Dave Hyde's Acceptance Vs Mike Wallace's Ignorance

I honestly have no problem with Wallace's tweet up until the "SMH...". Saying you don't understand isn't close minded at all. Shaking your head at the idea that a man would want to be with another man is close minded. If your gay female friends are shaking their heads at the idea of two men together, which I highly doubt is the case, then I would argue they are being close minded.

The point is, Wallace is a role model to a lot of people, and his tweets weren't particularly accepting of a landmark moment in sports - and I have a problem with that.

I appologize for bringing religion into this, but quoting old testimen verses about slaves doesnt have anything to do with homosexuality and the fact that it has nothing to do with sports.  I am simply pointing out, that you may be offended by someone not understanding gay people, but I am offended that you are telling me that I am close minded because of it.  I was in the Navy for 10 years working in a field (photography/graphics) that had quite a few gays and some of them I called friend.  I don't view them any differently than I view an alcoholic or drug addict...  I simply pray for them and this crumbling world.

I won't quote the bible, about killing slave women after having sex with them, if others will stop quoting the bible for reasons why we should not accept homosexuality.

RE: Dave Hyde's Acceptance Vs Mike Wallace's Ignorance

On a football note

We just let our team captain starting pro bowl LT walk cause we couldn't afford Wallace and Long. Now Wallace hasn't even practiced 1 snap and the team is having to issue apologies for sh!t he says or does. This is why I resisted signing a mercenary FA WR. Please just play football. shut your mouth and play football. catch TD's and keep your big $$%^#@ mouth shut.
