why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
if you remember his rookie year he returned 3-4 for TD's, but only 1 stood up .. the others were called back for holding, etc ... why not play each player to his best position and Ginn's should return ALL KICKS

Re: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
On most punts, you want a guy that is fast and has great change of direction. Ginn is great at kickoffs because he has room to get ramped up.

RE: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
what you really want is a guy who will either make a guy miss on punt returns and go vertical or make 1 cut and get upfield on kick returns...
most teams play their coverage lanes better than the jets did today...
you need a returner with onions

RE: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
yeah Cobbs and Bess are better returners than Ginn LOL .. Ginn may be scared of contact, but if he gets a lane it is a TD b/c nobody ever catches him .

i just say let's use Ginn where he is best .. as a 2nd or 3rd WR and all kick returns ... he is my favorite buckeye of all time and I am also a dolphin fan, but i know he is not a #1 WR .. i just want him to help the TEAM :)

i wouldn't disagree...but he can't always bounce it wide...he needs to make a cut and get upfield

i'm not concerned about bess... i just think he's in a funk. i think he'll be fine.
but we're gonna need the national guard to slow down the pats pass o next week.
still today kept us in the hunt for a playoff spot.

Against a Tennessee team, in the snow. Mismatches are accentuated in the snow. And then against a Tampa team that's given up...

Re: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
I have a feeling that Hartline would be very good as a punt returner. Bess, whether his fumblitis is temporary or not, is too slow once he catches the ball. I also think he is scared when he catches the ball, because he is so small. Hartline for punt returner!

Re: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
Ginn showed on his second return for a TD that he can make several people miss. I think there is a good chance he is returning punts next week. As some of us said when he was drafted, he is another Dante Hall.
IMO, it is a mistake to waste time searching and practicing trying to "find" a formation where Pat White could make positive yards.

Something needs to be done other then taking ginn out of the passing game, He is a big play waiting to happen and we arent using him like we should be. Bess is not the answer like some were saying he was earlier this week, Brian Hartline i didnt even hear anything about so who knows.

Re: why doesn't Ted Ginn return all kicks
Many moons ago when Ginn was knighted as our #1 receiver, the coaching decision was to remove him from harm's way as a returner. That's what most coaches do. OJ Mcduffie & Mark Clayton started out as return guys but were relieved of those duties when they were entrenched as starting receivers. Ginn is an unusual player. He plays scared and avoids contact at all cost but he's just too freakin' fast not to return punts and kicks. Bess has been our default punt return guy because of his sure handedness. He has zero ability to break one. Now he's experiencing the case of the "drops". It's time to put Teddy back on punts and kicks and use him situationally as a receiver. Our offense has to be revamped going forward. Teams are stacking 8 in the box. Take away Ronnie and Ricky and who's gonna beat you? The way to beat an "all-out" blitz is to throw quick passes over the middle. Not have your lead-footed QB roll into a sack. This requires surehanded, fearless receivers that leaves out Bess, Ginn & Fasano. Changes are in order when you total 104 yards in offense.
