Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

I see that this game is scheduled on NFL Network on Monday the18th at 3:00 am and Wednesday the 20th at 10:00 am. Can't believe we have to wait that long for the broadcast.

Looking forward to seeing Tannehill play a few more snaps than last week and how the OL is progressing. Would like to see which TE is gonna step up and fill in for Clay. Hopefully Sims in my book, but would like to see the others. Wonder which one(s) are gonna go with the first string? Would also like to see Tanne to Wallace hookup, but wouldn't we all. Realize they are not gonna show too much.

I would really like to see them put Tripp in with the first string along with Misi and Ellerbe, just to see what it looks like and if it has a chance to work, but I imagine he will still work with the seconds. I am sure the coaches know best about that, but I would just like to see them move Misi back and put Tripp in at MLB just for kicks and giggles. Don't really look forward to seeing Wheeler play again, especially any boneheaded moves from him, but I am still pulling for him.

I really really want to see what D. Jordan can do. Show us something please! Anything?

Finally, I am actually looking forward to seeing Moore and even Quinn and better QB play than we got from Lobato. Would like to see how their chemistry is with our myriad of receivers and which ones shine.

Don't think Moreno is gonna play yet is he?

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Alright here is the official game thread. Thanks Tail for starting this thread!!!

What are you looking for Game 2?

Me?

- Wallace and Hartline are playing this one. I want to see RTH go deep and connect on at least one pass.
- See if the O can continue to move the ball against a Stout TB D. Especially hoping to see continued pass blocking success by O-Line.
- Running the ball. Can Lamar Miller flash this game? Can O-Line get push against the TB front?
- TACKLING. Can anyone on the front 7 step up and make a tackle? Any of the LB's make a play?
- Matt Moore v Brady Quinn. IT'S ON!!!
- Turnovers by the first or second D unit.
- Pass rush out of the base D first unit.
- McCain and Tripp at LB. 2nd string right now. Can they continue to flash and make plays? Omar Kelly says that Tripp is too raw and too small. Says he isn't good enough. I say Kelly is dead wrong and the kid has been flashing all camp and during the Falcons game last Friday night. I have my thoughts on why Kelly doesn't like Tripp and yes I think Omar Kelly is prejudiced against white players at certain positions.

What say you folks?

Love the:  Matt Moore v Brady Quinn. IT'S ON!!!  LMAO.

Quinn actually played decent for the Seahawks in the preseason last year.

Quinn was brought in to help evaluate the WRs.  Hes a camp arm.  That's why Tebow isn't in a camp.  He doesn't practice worth a piss.  He would be there to throw balls so that the WRs can get receptions.  Problem is, Tebow cant complete passes in practice.  Hes worthless.  And if Quinn cant complete passes in pre-season so that the WRs can make catches, he will be trying to get  a job next to Tebow on the SEC Network.

I'm all for 2nd chances, maybe Quinn thrives in Lazor's system and we keep him around.

Like to see the same output from the offense for a longer period of time...

1st team defense needs to wake up and not let there offense take them for a long ride. Tackle somebody

I hope Tannehill doesn't lay an egg tonight and I would love to see Miller break off a nice run or two. Gonna be hard to look as good as it did last week but maybe 2 scoring drives this time. Moore and Quinn should allow our 2nd and 3rd tier receivers to shine a little more. Things got ugly last week with Lobato out there so hopefully we'll see Landry, Binns, Williams, and the other backups shine a little. Oh yeah and hopfully our defense namely the starters do a little tackling.

McCoy owned Dallas Thomas, probably could of owned anyone on our o-line.

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

* If you haven't seen the game and want it all to be a surprise - don't read this.

Initial impressions:

Front line hasn't looked as good today, but maybe Tampa's defense is that much better than Atlanta's.
Gerald McCoy is living in our backfield. Tanne has taken a couple hits so far and has just been sacked-fumbled for a turnover at the beginning of the second quarter. Satele was hurt on one play but I think he may be OK. Called a hands to face on Thomas in the backfield that turned an 11 yard gain into a negative play. Tanne had to juke and dodge a bit more today, but did get to stand back there some. He seems to be getting the ball out quicker.

Our receivers look good. Gibson is taking up right where he left off and his chemistry with Tannehill is dead on. He catches everything thrown to him over the middle. Everyone has caught the ball from Tanne, except Wallace and Hartline. Wallace was slightly over-thrown on a deep pass but it seemed to me he could have done more to go after it, but I would need to see the replay to really tell. Tanne hit Wallace right in the chest on a pass to the right, right at the line and Wallace couldn't hold it. The only play to Hartline was well defended. Matthews made a circus catch on a ball that looked to be tipped. Landry looks to be the real deal on his one pass play also. He doesn't really "look" like a rookie.

We need a RB. We need a bruising better RB. Williams seems to have a bit of a burst going around the left end of the line but neither he or Miller can do much through the middle. Could be Tampa's defense again, but  I personally think we need a RB with a little more ass. Miller has looked good on a couple of slants, catching the ball. We cannot run between the Tackles. Miller through the middle - not gonna work unless our line gets that much better.

Vernon is a player. Wake is still a beast. Defense looks so-so. Tackling still seems to be a work in progress. Dolphins sent 6 players on a blitz at mid-field and it was a thing of beauty. Swarming to the ball. Hope to see much more of that in the regular season.

Well back to watching the game. Just thought I would throw out my initial impressions.

Jimmy Wilson fail at safety... guy's thinking there hitting players and there going down are asking for it.

Grimes just covered Wilson screw up and saved us a TD

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Grimes is the real deal dougb. Turned a TD into a turnover giving us possession. So so glad he is ours!

So far with 5 mins to go before halftime we have had 9 rushes for a total of -5 yards. That is negative 5 yards. I know the line had to be fixed, but wish we would have found a RB to help. Darkwa (spelling) seems to have the heft to run the ball, but I am not sure about the speed. That he is not getting carries with the first stringers out there may be telling all we need to know about him. Come on Dolphins!

Moore had a beautiful pass downfield to Williams.

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Gibson sent a message to Landry and Matthews his spot not up for grabs...

Damion Williams the receiver looking darn good

Matthews nice TD grab - were going to cut some really good receivers it's a shame

Matt Moore looking like his old self, wonder if Quinn signing light a fire

McCoy looks like he is twice as good as any DT we got, he slapped Thomas out of his way with ease...

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

I agree with the Williams assessment. Glad it is not my job to decide which receivers stay or go. We are training receivers for other teams this year. Who are we gonna cut? Matthews? Williams? Could we possible keep 6?

Moore seems to have complete command of this new offense. He is slinging it out there, although not going against all first string. Some pretty passes being thrown. It is a comfort to have him as a backup. Shoulder seems to be fine now. Thought he might have some competition this year, but I don't believe so. If he is content to stay No. 2, then even though he costs a bit, I hope we keep him. May be the best backup in the league in my humble opinion.

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Right now, Gibson has 2 catches for like 26 yards and Landry has 1 for 28.  I wouldn't say Gibby is making much of a statement at all so far

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Williams, Cone, our out I would think, Matthews is in and may be the last. Some of these rookies receivers can be kept on the practice squad.

Both clutch catches from Gibson, that's a bit telling when it's 3rd and something and Tannehill throwing your way and you have to fight for the 1st and come thru both times. All 3 guy's Gibson, Matthews and Landry have made good catches.

Re: Dolphins at Tampa Bay - Saturday 08/16/2014

Gibson went down in game 8 last year. His recovery is remarkable. He doesn't seem to have lost any speed and he and Tannehill click. He catches everything thrown near him and he catches in traffic. He is a beast in the middle. I would say he is the clear number 3, if Hartline is number 2. Would say Landry at 4 and Matthews a clear 5 right now.  I believe that is gonna be our 5. Wonder who we can still stash on the practice squad? Would hate to see Williams playing for someone else.

Even Binns we forgotten him somewhat..

Williams the running back - the 2nd back out ahead of both Thomas and Gillislee may have gotten a spot on the 53

I know, Binns, Cone and Williams - what are we gonna do with them? Binns hasn't show too much this pre-season though. Still glad it is not my decision. Good situation to be in. Wish we had that caliber of players at TE. We have a mess there somewhat also, but just not as good of players.

Anthony Johnson look's promising at DT

Jordan finally shows up cause's a fumble

Buc's 1st sting defense is bad to the bone but there 1st string offense sucks

Agreed on Johnson. He may move right in, in the next couple years hopefully. Fede is making some plays out there also and is a nice surprise. Jordan doesn't need to always get sacks, even though that was nice; He needs to not be irrelevant and get pressure almost every time he attacks.

Will Davis makes some spectacular plays. Seems like he gambles a bit also though. Would like to see it all click for this puppy, actually for both our young pups, him and Taylor.
