Prediction. 6-10

Prediction. 6-10

Dolphins retooled their offensive line in the offseason, leading many to expect bigger and better things from the team It's the team's defense and wide receivers that are a concern now.
Tannehill enters Year 3 with pressure to start winning ballgames, but the talent around him doesn't impress Mike Wallace may be the NFL's most overrated (and overpaid) player, while Brian Hartline is solid but won't scare anyone. Rookie Jarvis Landry may have the best hands on the team, but first-year wide receivers rarely produce leading numbers.
Tannehill may be held back (again) by the talent around him.

On defense, the front four will once again be very good, but at linebacker there are concerns now that Koa Misi is in at middle linebacker and Philip Wheeler is still starting on the weak side. It may not be long before Jordan Tripp is in the lineup for good.

The secondary play is good and has potential to be even better with Jamar Taylor and Walt Aikens in the mix, but the Dolphins aren't yet good enough to overcome New England in the AFC East.

I hear you 58. But I am actually going to say 11-5.

Re: Prediction. 6-10

I also think we will be better than last year. Definitely see no regression. The OL seems to be an improvement from last year and should only get better especially when Pouncey gets back. I think the LBers will be some better and Tanne has had another year. If they have 50-60% of the new offense down, I would think they will be better than most of last years offense. I am cautiously hoping for 10 wins but 9 wins wouldn't surprise me. Anything better than 10 will icing. Hope to at least split with NE and the JEST, and hope for 2 wins against Buffalo to make up for last season. I wanna believe we will be right there in it at the end.

Re: Prediction. 6-10

Philbin goes 6-10 this year he's in trouble and won't be coming back next year. I do see that most of the rating sites have us ranked lower than I thought they would, thought we would be middle of the pack and were not, were bottom feeders.

You may be right about 6-10, but receivers won't be the cause we now have one of the deepest receiving corp's in the league. Not many if any receivers have Wallace's speed he is the fastest guy on the football field anymore, your right to think that he's not the best receiver though. If used right he still is a valuable player and could put up staggering numbers, in the least he could be used to clear certain parts of the field for others, he takes a CB and safety wherever he does goes, 1 low and 1 high. Doubt there are many receivers that do that. Sure were overpaying Wallace but if we didn't he wouldn't be here. Hartline is solid, he 2 x 1000 plus yard's it's a bit more than solid he is one of the best if not the best #2 receiver in the league, Gibson was looking strong mid-season last year, Matthews looks even better this year, Landry is going to get a lot of playing time for a Dolphin rookie, Armon Binns, Damin Williams. Cut to 53 is going to be tough on the receivers and more than a few will be picked up by other teams.

Linebackers - I'll take a wait and see... Thought we should of picked up one in the 1st round but they were gone by the time we picked. Still could be a solid unit if Misi can handle the middle. Both Ellerbe and Wheeler going into there 2nd year here I hope that help's. Jelani Jenkins going into his 2nd year and Dion Jordan will help when he makes it back.

Secondary could be special this year, Cortland Finnegan looking like a steal. Davis and Taylor healthy and going into there 2nd year helps.

D-line got better and wasn't trying all that hard AJ Francis looks much improved and the undrafted FA pickup Anthony Johnson I've heard more than 1 sports writer say he will be a starter on this line at some point. Mitchell for Soliai gives them a more traditional DT front will see what happens and exactly who get rotated in. Very good debt here.
Ends - Jordan looking bigger, Vernon another year and praise from Albert, added Terrance Fede who I hear is decent...

RB - Miller is bigger and stronger than last year, did notice at the end of last season he was running harder into the line even if he wasn't going anywhere... Moreno don't really know what to expect from him.. 2 rookies Williams and Darkwa could give Gillisee a run for his money..

O-line is a bit scary and probably the reason for the drop in ranking, but there is reason to be optimistic for the 1st time in 3 years we have a true zone blocking line.... it will take time for them to jell but the foundation is set.

This year like last year and the year before depend on Tannehill and how far his development has come and his knowledge of Lazor new offense. Were only going as far as he can take us....

Need to score points - 10 points per game better than last year at minium

gut 10-6 hoping were better - I've got Dolphin blinders though...

Who the hell expects bigger and better things from the OL when Pouncey is out and we are starting 1 if not 2 rookies?  Who are these "many" you speak of?  Do they know what it takes to have a successful OL?

WR is the concern?  Hartline doesn't scare anyone?  He had over 1000 yards receiving in less than 80 catches.  That's over 10 YPC, which last time I checked was a 1st down.  THe threat of a 1st down on  every play isn't a threat?
Wallace was horrible last year.  Think the sorry OL may not have given Tannehill a chance to let a play develop?  Think maybe Sherm didn't use him correctly?
We drafted the WR with the best hands in the draft.  Mike Mayock was quoted as saying that when he put on the tape, he couldn't tell the difference in speed and quickness between Landry and Beckham.  He was named the LSU MVP by the team.  But he ran a slower 40 at the combine due to an injury and novices assume that he just isn't fast.

Our DL is loaded.  We aren't the Rams, but thus unit is very talented.  Reports have said that Davis and Taylor are finally flipping the switch on.

The ENTIRE season rests on the shoulders of the OL.  Cant open holes?  RBs don't have a chance.  OL cant pass block?  Tannehill is on his ass again and the ball cant get out to Wallace to do what he was brought here to do.

Clay is hurt.  After Clay, we have crapshoots.  LBs are just LBs.  We cant fix it with anyone on the roster.  We are stuck with what Ireland  signed us up for before he left.  The RBs are average.  We wont know if Miller's weight gain is helpful or not before the team has even played a game.  Thomas is Thomas.  He did nothing to change what he has been up to this point.  Moreno can come back 100% and he wont put up numbers like last year because that was a CAREER year with a HOF QB running the offense.

Stephen Ross...ur an assclown.

Re: Prediction. 6-10

Last time I looked, this was a Dolphin Fan Forum so what's the point of making a 6-10 prediction before the first exhibition game?  Unless you're a hater.

Yes, there's lots of reasons for concern but no reason to make a blanket negative prediction now.

Real Dolfans are excited about the start of the season.

I love these posts force the contributors to make their early calls on the season.

Seems to me we had one early last year, would be nice to "Pull It" and see who actually nailed or missed the season

This ^     And too early for me to make predictions, usually do that after the preseason and before the start of the season.  From evaluation, seeing them in action, and possible injuries with our players and around the league.
Remember Keller?  cool   Last year my curve said we needed to be 10-6, but after Keller went down in the pre-season I went with an expectation of 8-8.  Which turned out correct but I still call it lucky because if you told me what else was going to happen in the future with the Oline scandal and whatnot I would have said 4-12, lol.

laugh.gif  Speaking of predictions, reading through that thread I saw Warren Sapp's prediction that Tannehill would break Dan Marino's 1984 record.  LOL  I'm guessing Warren Sapp won't be participating in this thread.  We've got a pretty awesome WR corps now this year, tho, so who knows, maybe his prediction was only a year off.  winktongue

I will say 11-5.  Error margin of +/- 2.  Hoping 13-3.  End the playoff drought.

Re: Prediction. 6-10

Well, I predicted 10-6 last year, so I am improving by 1;) And in all honesty we were 8-6 heading into 2 winnable games. Then gogo reappeared...

So Philbin gets the team together and challenges them by saying," I think we're going 6-10 this year. Prove me wrong."

Before the season starts, Real Dolfans make optimistic predictions.

Why settle for 6- 10 ... why not 2 -14 or better yet 0 - 16?

To be a real fan you have to believe your team will succeed until proven otherwise.
Tonight's the beginning of hope and excitement and I'm fired up. I don't need a negative reality check right now.

Because a am a realist. I look at the big picture and I just don't wing it. Too many issues too many holes. And schedule that is too tough. The team is just not good enough. Six and 10 I stick with 8-8 at best

some pundits have the afc east like this.

#1 jets 10-6

#2 pats 9-7

#3 bills 8-8

#4 Miami 5-11 injuries and suspensions with more suspensions expected.

I had hoped for a 10 win season but for some reason I think a 8-8 or 7-9 season is in the cards

if the Pats don't win the division then Bills will win it but nobody thinks we will do better then 8-8 .

I blocked BWJ because I don't enjoy headaches. I found that guy to be entirely too aggravating to want to read his posts.

After seeing that first drive by the defense I am not impressed at all with how easily our LBs are pushed around and how fast they take themselves out of the play. Once again I think we will struggle to stop the run but I do think we are better on offense with a much better looking Oline and much more creative OC we should win more games.
