What caused the oline to get better?

What caused the oline to get better?

And significantly better the last game? I saw most of the second half, and they looked good. I think Brenner was starting again, right? Who is this guy? He`s played pretty good. Obviously Big Mac has something to do with this, and Clabo has gotten better. Other possibilities: playcalling, better pocket awareness by RT, better running by RB`s.
What say you?

Right off the top, you'd have to say addition by subtraction. To have a good or great OL, you need to have 5 guys who work well together.  All 5 must be on the same page and work in unison, especially in a zone blocking system.

Martin was awful, how much of that is talent vs alleged bullying is the question.  Maybe Icognito is a bigger distraction than what he is worth.  According to PFF, he ranked in the top 15.

This also could be due to the circle the wagons effect.  Sometimes when a team faces adversity, they rise to the challenge together.

I laughed initially. They are so up and down. But that is one helluva d line. I think it has more to do with the 2nd answer. 5 guys just saying "let`s do this".

agreed

Also, little dissapointing that Dallas Thomas can't crack the starting lineup.

Very!  Where the hell is he???  He still can't crack Guard, let alone Tackle?  Extremely disappointing.

Just subtract Richie, Martin & Pouncey & add
an aging McKinnie & a rookie Brenner that's never played a game
plug Nate Garner in @ Center & ala....its fixed

Speaking of...has anyone seen any game stats on Brenner? I havent heard of him giving up sacks. That is truly what you want as an olineman- to be unheard of. He has started a couple of games and hasnt gotten anyone killed. Who is this guy? Does he have a chance of being a starter in the future (because he is kicking ass now against everyone`s #1's)? Get Big Mac back for next year and incentivise his ass to lose weight and not party, we may be okay.

I don't think Big Mac will be here next year - the team waived the final year of his contract so it's not like they see a long term investment. We'll probably look to add 2 tackles, and possibly a guard next year. I doubt McKinnie, Clabo, Jerry, Martin, or Incognito are with us in 2014.

Big Mac is Bryant McKinnie, our left tackle. I was referencing packphinsfan's post.
