Even crazier is the Chiefs signed their punter to a 5 years 18.5 million with 9 million guaranteed.

Albert was never on my list. Bowe, however, definitely was...

Yeah, not happy about Bowe.
Calling KC insane for paying that much to a Punter would be like calling Ireland insane for overpaying for Carpenter ... I mean really ... c'mon ... Ireland isn't that dumb is h ... oh crap ...

Jeez im glad we are not the chiefs, I guess they had boatloads of money to blow. If this was happening in miami under irelands watch we would all be losing our minds

RE: You can cross bowe and Albert off our list
We gave Brandon Fields a 4 year 13.3 million contract that's 3.3 and change. There punter is at 3.7 it's not that crazy if he's as good or better than ours. If you can punt the ball 60+ yards and have it drop out of bounds inside the other teams 10 yard line your worth money.
I'm sure the agents of Wallace and Jennings had a big smile on there face when they seen Bowes contract... there asking price is going up..

I'm sure the agents of Wallace and Jennings had a big smile on there face when they seen Bowes contract... there asking price is going up.. 3.5 Million for a freaking punter. Sorry, but punters don't WIN games. I'd take an average punter at 1.25 million and spend the savings towards a playmaker thanks.

RE: You can cross bowe and Albert off our list
I don't know honestly Brandon Fields deserved every penny of the contract we gave him... Ive seen us go three and out from our 15 and the other team takes possesion on their own 20 yard line.. It's not only his distance but fields has spectacular Hangtime so gunners have a chance to limit the returns which is his real strength.. Usually when punters get that kind of distance there is usually a 20 yard barrier between Returner and Gunner.. Fields hangtime lets the gunners have a much closer distance thus mitigating big returns..
To make it more simple i would say its about a 20 yard difference.. If the opponent starts at their 40 as opposed to their 20.. That is a night and day difference.. At the 40 your looking at about 2 first downs to be in FG range as opposed to 4... To me that kind of field position advantage really matters because in the first scenario even if they get to our 50 yardline your looking at terrible starting field position on the next punt.. Not only that, as long as we hold them to a 3 and out we are bound to have much better position on the return punt so it really flips field position in our favor (ex the 40 yardline). Even if we had another 3 and out from our 40 yardline fields can put it inside their 10 with regularity.. Hold them again and with our return game we are likely starting out on their side of the field..
I really appreciate the field position dynamic of football and the advantages brought not only by a spectacular punter in Fields but in our returner Thigpen as well.. I would say almost every game last year we came out ahead on starting field positioning.. Fields win in the battle with Scrifes last year should prove that ,because I remember many people were pointing out that field position battle was a huge reason we won that game.
Thanks for listening to my Brandon Fields mancrush essay lmao.. But yeah dustin Colquitt is not in his caliber and in no way deserved that kind of money.. Same with Koenen who i saw fields out punt in the preseason game. Bucs fans next to me were marveling at Fields who was outpunting their 5 million a year punter.

I agree, Fields is one of the best, but if you use the extra money from Fields to get a guy or two who are a step above who we have here now we might be able to move the ball more et c etc etc. I guess it can be argued both ways to death.

Fields has bailed out our ass more than once and while Punters don't get the deserved credit for winning games, they sure as heck here crap when they shank one deep in their own territory in tight games. Thankfully, I can't remember the last time that's happened to us. I do agree that giving a "playmaker" an additional $1.5M is logical but given FA busts are at 50% (Polian study), I'm pretty pleased that our investment in Fields is rock solid.
