randy starks, it makes sense to just tag him this year. he is the only one worth the price but not too sure he is worth a high price long term deal.

Randy Starks maybe depending on how the coaching staff feels about him.. They should know the best since they see him day in and day out.. Maybe they feel really strongly about Randall and Mcdaniels.

That seems high. I thought the Franchise Tag took an average of the Top 5 salaries at the position. I thought Mr. Long was the highest paid LT, so wouldn't we be paying him less?

I hope to god they don't use it on Sean Smith!! Most of you probably know I always bitch about this guy. He is useless and doesnt deserve starting, he's probably at best as a nickle back only!! To franchise him and pay him top 5 money at his position is a total joke and the organization would be a total joke if they decide to do that. I will then totally believe that this front office is the worst in the NFL! It won't matter how many draft picks we have or how much cap money we have because it will not matter. The decision making is terrible!! Sean Smith must go!!

Go Dolphins!
Roll Tide Roll!

RE: Tag Time?

Because Long's salary-cap number this season is higher than the franchise number for offensive linemen, the Dolphins would have to franchise him at 120 percent of this year's salary. Thus, his franchise tag would be $15,365,952, according to league sources.

Long playing hardball with the Dolphins - look like he's gone to me.....

I'm ok watching him leave.  Get an offensive linemen in here that can stay healthy all season.
