Freeney/ Collie

Freeney/ Collie

Both will be getting cut loose from Indy. Freeney had 5 sacks last year playing out of position (3-4 LB, instead of 4-3 DE), could be a nice part timer. Dont know much on Austin Collie.

Too small for a non-Tampa 2 defense, especially considering his age...

Re: Freeney/ Collie

I don't know how well freeny does against the run id be concerned looking at Indy's pourous run defense.. He certainly is an elite pass rusher though.Id rather sign Osi Umenyiora,William Hayes, or Shaugnessey as a cheaper situational pass rusher. If you want to spend the big bucks there are some nice young 4-3 ends  My favorites being Michael Johnson,Michael Bennet, or Anthony Spencer. All would look great opposite cameron wake.

This area still really concerns me. If we were to lose wake to injury we are pinning all our hopes for a pass rush on Vernon... Yeah i don't know if i quite trust him that much yet.  We have been really lucky the last few years because Wake has been our pass rush.

I agree on Johnson. It also looks like the Colts are going to stick it to Freeney. Instead of cutting him now (they can get compensatory picks because they will spend way more than they lose), they are going to wait until the start of Free Agency, and his contract runs out. He could at least make a little more money now, not having to compete against the flood of players.

Just saw Collie has concussion issues, along with other injury problems. He ultimately may not play anymore. Doubt we go after him.

Freeney would be a good 1 or 2 year stop gap fix at DE, rotating Freeney with Olivier, Wake and Shelby. Freeney would have to be willing to play for half the money he's getting now but if he still wanted to play. I think he got something left in the tank in a backup or part time role.

RE: Freeney/ Collie

Heard an interview with Freeney and he said he wants to go to a team who needs a piece to get them to the superbowl.  I don't think we fit the bill for him as we are prob 2 to 3 yrs from being a serious SB contender.
