Chance Warmack
Now I know some of you will have a heart attack if we draft an OL in the first but personally I think this guys worth it. He makes ANY RB look good by clearing bus sized lanes for them.
I wouldn't be disappointed if we picked him, on the condition we'd made a big splash in FA.
My wish list has Jennings, Finley, Levitre, and Cox on it. Phillips would be the icing on the cake. I'd like to see Long return but not for the money he's quoted as being after. Albert, Clady, A Smith and Vollmer are all cheaper tackle options we could pursue.

Re: Chance Warmack
He's a stud but I don't think should take another interior OL or even a OT. You need playmakers and impact players in the 1st round. Now I know an OL can be an impact player but they certainly aren't a playmaker. You can find very good OL in 2nd, 3rd and later rounds.

RE: Chance Warmack
Here is my take on Chance. He is an amazing guard and exactly what we need but I think our O-line did enough this year (even without Jake) to prove somewhat servicable. I would go absolute apeshit if we drafted Chance but at the same time he would be a guy we would all love if he is taken once we get past the guys we passed over for him. If we go out and get a top tierd WR, TE, and CB, I wouldnt hate the pick as much. If we take him and trade back into the first round for a guy like Patterson, I could even be ok with that but if we draft him and do not pick up the players listed above in FA, I will be pissed. I know I have heard that there is depth is this draft at WR and there always is, but I dont like too many of the guys in the later rounds if they are brought in to be our #1 WR as I see a bunch of #2 WR's and we already have those.
Thank you for a great season Shockers!

RE: Chance Warmack
With Hopkins now declaring for the draft, I may have to retract my previous statement about nothing but #2's behind the first 3 or 4 guys. We could actually see some first round talent starting to move into the early part of the 2nd round.
Thank you for a great season Shockers!

RE: Chance Warmack
I wouldn't be disappointed, as much as we seem to have invested in our offensive line it needs to be more than serviceable, you still need to run the football in this league and seeing how many times Bush had no hole to run thru was sad. Don't get me wrong we still need WR TE CB and even another OT and OG, a lot of these players are going to have to be picked up in FA, if he is the best player available and can come in and start and make an immediate impact then he should be the pick.
And no I don't like it one bit...but it is what it is

RE: Chance Warmack
I'm not sure how I feel about the pick. If we can manage to resign Smith & sign Jennings/Wallace AND Derek Cox, then I would be ok with the pick, assuming we use 2 of our next 4 on WR/TE - but that's incredibly unlikely.
I also think OG is more of a need than OT, as Martin can play the left side and Jerry & Garner can compete for the starting RT job. I recall Jerry playing OT very well at the end of 2011, & Garner was strong wk17 except agains the Pats (though I see him more as a reserve).
However, while Warmack is a great all-around guard, he doesn't particularly excel at pulling, and I would prefer to se us take Jonathan Cooper in the 2nd.

Re: Chance Warmack
After years of watching the pocket breakdown before the QB has hit his third step i admit it would be intriguing to see poncey/warmack side by side for the next 5 years
Ive been really looking @ Cyril Richardson as well Hes being projected as a bottom of 2nd guy plays with anger but athletic enough to play the system

Exactly, as long as resign who we need and make a decent mark in the FA signings (Jennings, Cox & Cook for example then I like the pick. If we don't sign any impact players at FA's then I don't want us drafting this guy.

RE: Chance Warmack
There is no way we sign all those guys. No way. Taking an OG with the #12 pick in the draft is ridiculous. Insane. Unless he can block the entire D - Line and LB corps of the opposition there is no reason to draft him that high. It's time this team drafts PLAYMAKERS ... GAME BREAKERS ... the O-line wasn't amazing but it wasn't completely horrible either. Want to make the O-line improved? Give the QB people to throw the ball to who can separate from a DB. Don't make the kid hold the ball for 4 or 5 seconds. Don't let a D sit 8 in the box constantly because no one on the team scares them. Want to improve the Offense, get some high octane talent. Not an OG. Jschwald wrote: I'm not sure how I feel about the pick. RE: Chance Warmack
Mel Kiper Jr. has Warmack rated as the 5th best player coming out, so it's not out of the real of possibilities we take him. He provides extra protection for Tannehill and the passing game and immediately improves our running game and removes the weakest link on our O-line which is John Jerry. Could be taken top 10..he is a special player.

RE: Chance Warmack
I hope we don't take an OG with the 12th pick. But Jeff Ireland is running this draft and he likes safe picks. It wouldn't suprise me if Ireland went with a safe pick and then went for his gambles later.
