Re: Resign Reggie Bush

Will Reggie Bush return to Miami Dolphins in 2013?

Reggie Bush has delivered on his promise to become a leader and featured runner in the Miami Dolphins' backfield. Whether or not the team will reward him for that is another story.

The Miami Herald cited team sources Sunday in reporting the Dolphins will try to re-sign Bush during the offseason, but at their price -- not his.

Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland is willing to keep Bush, but the organization believes rookie Lamar Miller is just beginning to step into his potential. At 218 pounds, Miller runs a 4.4-second 40-yard dash and has seen an increased workload this month.

That doesn't mean the Dolphins are looking to part ways with Bush, who accounted for three touchdowns in Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills and has been the team's most consistent skill player two seasons running.

Bush is closing in on his second 1,000-yard season, but the feeling in Miami is that the Dolphins finally are working from a position of strength in the backfield. That perspective should make for an interesting offseason in South Beach.

I'm really torn on this.  He has really stepped up as a leader and I'm impressed at how he has proven all of his doubters wrong.  Having said that, Lamar Miller needs more touches and generally speaking they are the same type of back.  I would like to see what Bush could do against a defense that has to defend more than 20 yards against our offense.

I'm torn as well. I'd hate to change too many things around RTH too quickly. Hartline is probably going to be gone and Bush has been a nice safety blanket.

But Miller is younger and cheaper. Thigpen has looked solid in the passing game too.

I voted yes, but only as they said above "At our price". I would like to see Miller have more carries before we decide to just let a player like Bush walk away. Can anyone here say "without a doubt Miller will be just as productive as Bush"? Im not so sure yet.

I voted yes. I think we can keep him for a "reasonable" price.

I think he likes it in Miami, and that's a good bargaining chip for the Fins.

RE: Resign Reggie Bush

I vote yes but he needs to be more versatile and Miller deserves a chance to be our starter. Bush proved last season that he was a great back...for half a season and this season he proved he isn't as durable as he thinks he is. With that said he is our only playmaker on the roster and if Ireland is going to focus on playmakers he should meet Bush in the middle of cheap and fair and keep him here. Thomas is a nice situational back, not worth a 2nd or a trade up but he is not a bad player and probably our best pass blocking back but can also catch. He is a nice piece...I think he will make some nice keys plays in his future.

The reason why I voted yes is that Bush has those uncanny juke you out of your shoes moves and is always one key block away form the end zone. And there in lies the problem that one key block up front.

^ Yes.

We have personnel that just are not being used in their right element.  Bush needs it more opened up to work in space.  Bess needs to be slot.  Hartline needs to be slot or #2 at best.  Etc.  Next year's draft and free agency signing is going to be key to whether we enhance everyone else, or continue to waste their talent trying to do things they are not equipped to do in the proper roles.

I know Bush wants to be a every down guy, but I see him in a Joe Washington/ Dave Meggett role. Out in the flats, and upfield catching passes. He is a seriously dangerous receiver.
