does it seem that the 72 dolphins get

I dont know if anyone else follows  the nfl network and other networks  durring the week?    For the longest time i had just watched the games but  there was no dolphin fan outlet to learn what was happening  but in 1995  I began  to follow the team more closely  and since that time

I have noticed   that the 72 -73 Dolphins    have been mentioned less  and less  when the networks discuss or show the greatest teams of the 70's  the miami dolphins are not mentioned anymore  so  does this mean that no one reallly respects those teams  ?

I think I see now why Mercury Morris   and the guys  would say what they said  when asked about those days.    it is a real crappy   thing when  Dan Marino is always getting  pissed on when the pregame show talks about the teams   and  if the fins win Marino has to say something  because  Cowher  , Shannon Sharp  and Boomer   always  do their best to avoid  mentioning the fins  .

this  is getting worse  and worse  no matter which network is involved.

as a dolphin fan i think  its bull ****  that every afc east team gets so much airtime  except Miami   that I want to know how Miami Dolphin fans  are suposed to learn about their team when the media plays favorites  .

did Don Shula and the guys bring this on themselves or is the media trying to eliminate  acknowledging  the dolphins altogether ?

Yup, I follow the NFL Network (& ESPN, & Sirius, & FF/Yahoo & the online papers & magazines & THIS site excited; I loved watching Hard Knocks this year, too).....there's info out there even if you have to hunt for it.
I'm not specifically seeing what you're seeing Rosco but maybe I'm just looking at it differently:
(because) other than our Draft Picks, Coaching changes or FA acquisitions (or cuts eek), taking the pragmatic approach/just based on recent "successes" (other than winning the Division in 2008), what else has there been to feature?
.....and other than some 40th Anniversary mentions & (Phins-sponsored) ceremonies, I'm not so sure that perfect season means as much to everyone else as it does to us (save for 07 NE - who came sooooo close & epically missed the mark biggrin).
You also have to remember that a LOT of our fanbase wasn't even born til after the perfect season....many of them came of age in the Marino years.
I'm a homer too, but.....don't forget to look @ the big picture.  Be thankful for that history & what we do have.  It's all those networks' jobs to report what's going on NOW; plus even they mention "the Dolphins Perfect Season" eeeeeeeeevery year when some team starts out undefeated confused.
The sky ain't fallin'.
I'd rather have things the way they are vs. being the Jets & in the news every night for all the wrong reasons.....noidea

Again, you are delusional.  You get this seed in your head and it grows like weeds. There has been no difference over the years. None!

Perfection is frowned upon with disdain by those who will never acheive it.

RE: does it seem that the 72 dolphins get

I feel that until We(the fans)have something to rave about, like when we finally approve and not bitch about the draft, when we stop calling the team a rebuilding process, when we start a season with more than 4 straight wins, when we end up with an above .500 season record, in the playoffs, not as a wild card but division champ, when we go deep into the playoffs, then and only then will we get the respect from the networks or anyone else. But there are those who will never give the Dolphins the props even if we are a winner. Be realistic like most of us are, about who we are. When we suck we suck, when we have a flash of greatness we are good, until we dominate we are only average. To many missing ingredients and any cake won't get baked. When it's fixed we will all enjoy what has been built and not expect others to respect us just cause we had that great success back then. Question? Other than the 72-73 successful seasons what accomplishment of the team do you think is the best one?

Re: does it seem that the 72 dolphins get

Certain teams are 'media darlings' and others aren't

I don't think you'd count the Jets in that category these days, but isn't it interesting the amount facetime we are getting with the whole Tebow nonsense these days, when realistically we were out of contention weeks ago.

The Giants on the other hand are in full meltdown mode with a much better team and it's second page stuff.

No too long ago you guys were the 'clown franchise' of the NFL with the whole Harbough coaching thing, the Bryant 'hooker' thing with Ireland, etc etc.
Once the media locks on to something, they'll just roll with it until the story dies.

Right now the Jets are the 'clown franchise' of the NFL.  Fine... so be it.  Everyone gets their turn.

This is true for about 80% of teams out there.... they build them up and tear them down.  Wash rinse repeat.

With a few exceptions....
The NFL promotes about 4-5 teams as 'do no wrong'

New England
Pittsburgh
Green Bay
San Francisco
(Maybe Dallas)

You can even see it in the analysis of AFC East players during games.  Tom Brady throws a terrible pick and they are looking for excuses for him (ie the WR ran the wrong route, didn't make a effort to come back to the ball etc)  If Tannehill/Sanchez/Fitzpatrick throws the exact same pass, it will be described as a 'poor throw'

I think  i have to disagree  becuase  there was a lot more  talk  about Mercury Morris in a more positive light   if you check into it look at the fox pregame shows and the cbs  pregame  shows  they didnt  snub the team  but when the patriots   won their last super bowl   the dolphins have been getting snubbed more  .

good point   and its hard to hang my hat on what the dolphins  have accomplished  and tht suxs  .  I think  the 11-5  season  that one year was as about  successful  as anything else   or that  is the only thing  tohang my hat on.

RE: does it seem that the 72 dolphins get

I think people are just sick of the 72 phins. The supposed Champagne popping every year when the last undefeated team goes down has gotten a bit annoying. Not that they do it (whether they do or not I don't know) but that it has to be said and there are a lot of people who hate that. I personally wish a classy franchise like the Packers would go undefeated and win the Super Bowl so the football world can move on. I still have to argue with some Patriots fans who actually think their season was better because they won more games even though they didn't win the superbowl which they seem to forget makes their season anything but perfect. Then their are the other bone heads who have to point out it was a strike shortened season and who knows what would have happened otherwise. Its going to happen eventually. Somebody else is going to do it and then they will be the best team ever because they will have gone 18-0 and then they can compare the teams and start a whole new argument and special to run in the offseason..."The Perfect Game"...a Madden simulation to decide once and for all who is the best team of all time. Only then can we truely be forgotten...Wow that one took a lot out of me.

Ditto.
I don't allow NEP fans the luxury of being delusional around me.  Perfection means just that: PERFECT (i.e. that includes the SB!).  No ifs, ands, or Victoria's Secret butts.  Anything else is FAILURE.
I just say, "Yup ~ 18 wins.....1 GIANT LOSS" devil
Tell 'em you'll buy them the TShirt that says the above if they don't STFU wink

I hate agreeing w/BWJ but he's right ~ "pefection" may happen once in a lifetime (if you're lucky), BUT every year some poor team also sinks to a new level of sucktitude.  It's cyclical - "media darlings" 1 decade then bottom of the barrel the next. We've ALL been there frown
The game itself has evolved also & just from doing the Pick Ems, you NEVER know what to expect.  Just roll w/the punches (literally) cool.  Hope for the best/expect the worst.  Somebody should write a survival guide for today's NFL fans excited
