I Heart Radio

I Heart Radio

I downloaded this app for 940 WINZ to listen to the Dolphin games. But every Sunday the station is just dead air. Any other day it works fine. Is there some kind of restriction on the game broadcasts?

probably......confused
What sort of device are you using?  I have the mobile NFL app (but it only works with Verizon eek1disbelief) & listened to their live broadcast yesterday...
Sirius/XM have ALL the games but you have to pay extra for that "package".
I've seen some posters say they can listen online w/1 of the local (Miami) radio stations, but I'm not sure which frown

OR....
One of us can send you a link on game day
biggrin

Yep, unfortunately stations are not allowed to stream games over the internet. I believe it may have something to do with the XM/Sirius contract. If you can get the games of your team anywhere in the nation, country, on the planet biggrin, it would put them at a competitive disadvantage while paying for the rights to carry the games. Have NO idea if this is true, but it sounds good! tongue

RE: I Heart Radio

why is it that other afc east rivials are seen on regular tv but we have to pay to see the dolphns on any tv .

first it was cablethen espn ,then they want us tobut a special pacakage and yet they nevershow the dolphins games so why pay extra ? it seems like a fleecing of america at its finest. Just my opinion but we should not have to pay three times as much money then the patriots and jets fans who usually see their team for free or very little.

RE: I Heart Radio

In tampa its crazy. The Buccs home games are never on tv and the phins are on about 10 out of 16 weeks. There are some weeks here where you don't get the buccs or the phins. Last weeks game between 2 florida teams...nope. People are broke here. IMO with things the way they are here Tampa should move to LA. Tampa isn't big enough to support a football team and the surrounding areas aren't exactly wealthy and most of the people who have money moved here from somewhere else and don't like the buccs or the Rays for that matter. Its crazy coming from Jersey where most the proffesional teams are extremely successful whether they are good or bad (excluding the Nets) to come here where you will not even see a florida team play on tv for a quarter of the season.

Interesting, D....
I hope the Buccs don't move (the LA Buccaneers? hmmm.....) I thought if any team was gonna move, it'd have been Jax.  They've gotta put some team in that new "Farmers Stadium" monstrosity they're building in LA eek
I was surprised to have a few Phins games on TV here in VA this year; and Tanne's been forever linked in the "Rookie QBs" discussion(s) so I don't think the Phins are being overlooked by the media.  Being on Hard Knocks probably didn't hurt, either....

Anyway.....I can't believe there's NO way to hear/watch NFL games on that new Galaxy phone

Thanks for posting this, because I was starting to get ticked off at my cel provider thinking it was them.  I too have noticed 2nd half of the season the feed goes dead game time, as opposed to it working fine the 1st half of the season.  Hmmm I wonder if NFL sell-out rules have made its way into iHeart now as well.

You need to try to understand things before going off.

If a game is blacked out in Miami or is scheduled for later or primetime, then you usually get AFC East rivals. Before 1994, the Patriots never sold out and Miami was the team to display most of the time since they were NE's biggest rivals at the time.

There hasnt been a game blacked out in at least two years though... One good thing to say about Steve Ross is he eats a lot of tickets to put the game on tv every week.

Marx,

TV and Radio are 2 different animals. Like I stated earlier, I "think" this has something to do with NFL's contract with Sirius/XM. Before they had a contract with them a number of years ago, you could pick up the games via Internet stream. No longer, regardless of ticket sales. If you can listen to any game on the internet then why the need to purchase Sirius/XM product to get the games? I am almost positive it is the same with baseball, too.

Ah ha!  That makes sense (thanks, Grimmy! thumbup.gif).  Probably also avoids some antitrust laws noidea

It's nice to get all the games on Sirius (IF you're willing to pay & can get a signal rolleyes ), but I don't like the extra 15-20 second delay confused.  But it still beats switching to DirectTV wink

Interesting....thanks Grim.  Makes sense.
PITA it is more and more these days to follow your team/sport without yet another hand in your pocket/wallet.
