Jermichael Finley out in Green bay

Interesting and I'm sure Philbin is going to know if he is worth what he will undoubtedly ask for.. That right there would be an upgrade over what we currently have at TE.. I don't know though, he has dropped some passes this year but the potential is definitely there still for him.

Report: Packers to part ways with Finley

Finley AP

A year ago, the Packers and Jermichael Finley were posturing for a tussle regarding whether the looming decision to use the franchise tag would result in compensation paid to a tight end or a receiver.  Now, the team is making plans for a divorce.

Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Packers have decided to part ways with Finley after the season.

He could be cut, he could be traded.  A $3 million roster bonus comes due on the 15th day of the new league year, which begins in March.  Since trades can’t happen until the first day of the new league year, the Packers will have a two-week window for finding a trade partner.

Though it could be hard to get someone to trade for the one-year, $7 million remaining on the contract that the parties signed in February, the Packers possibly will be able to ship Finley to a team that would then sign him to a long-term deal.

Either way, Finley soon won’t have to worry about his lack of chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Definitely interesting, but I'm not sure Philbin will want someone who couldn't mesh with the type of organization he is trying to build in Miami. At any rate this is very good news for us because it will drive down the price for other TE's on the market, namely Jared Cook and Dustin Keller, and we'll be bidding against one less team in need of a TE.

Just for fun, who or what would we trade, 2nd or 3rd round pick?

I doubt it, what's the point in trading such a high pick when they've already said they'll be parting ways regardless. I could see a team give up a 6th or 7th, but any higher than that you might as well just wait for the Pack to release him.

I don't know, if we could work out a sign and trade I would do it to avoid having to compete in the open market.

Not worth trading for, Finely has been very mediocre the last 2-3 years

Ya I'm not so sure about him.  I heard he was a locker room cancer & ran his mouth too much about Aaron not throwing to him enough noidea
Too bad cuz he's Javorskie's half brother confused

Edit (more background info):

He is also cousins with Rex Hadnot, a former Houston guard and sixth-round draft pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2006 now playing for the San Diego Chargers.

Finley has six children. He has two daughters and a son who all live in Texas with their mothers, as well as a son in Green Bay. [11] He is raising his sons, Kaydon and London, with his wife Courtney.

No thanks! He's a headcase, we didn't want Marshall because he was a headcase. I hope we wouldnt want Finley.

Again, Philbin knows this guy as well as anyone. Whatever he decides, I'm good with...

I don't want to build a Church choir here, I want to build a SB winner.  Did you know that the NY Giants have had more arrests of players in the past 5 years than the NY Jets? I don't care if a player is a bit of a headcase so long as he contributes on the field and makes plays.  So long as he isn't selling drugs or hurting kids, raping anyone, hurting animals, or a murderer
I could care less what he does in his personal time. GB won a SB with this guy at TE so he can't be THAT big a locker room cancer.  We aren't talking TO here.
